the series was never officially ended but simply discontinued. David Hasselhoff once said in an interview "We didn't know what was going on" The series was still number 1 after 4 years and still had potential. the station didn't want it anymore. for whatever reason. we were all very sad.
It was a sad repeat of Glen Larson's previous show Battlestar Galactica. By the fourth season Knight Rider was going way over budget and NBC finally pulled the plug. Glen Larson's next show, the short lived The Highwayman, recycled a lot of props and special effects from Knight Rider.
Definitely, especially how the final scene ends. After Michael has a moment on the beach following Stevie's death, he decides to return to the Foundation. He and KITT then drive off away from camera and epic scoring kicks in as it cuts to the usual closing desert shot of KITT speeding toward camera leading to the credits.
I have an theory back in the eighties they made an mistake Scent of the Rose was Aired first by accident before the episodes that came out that were suppose to come out before it
I thought that the episode that was originally supposed to end knighrider was better I think it was called scent of a rose whic David wrote and wanted as the finale
@@turret72 Yikes! Sounds like Season 5 would've been a more darker tone then. Plus if "Scent of Roses" had been Season 4's finale with Stevie's death, guess this would've made sense.
@@turret72 yes. Season 5 was gonna be the return of KARR taking revenge on the foundation and Michael. Bonnie's death was on the cards too. Pity we never got the final battle between them.
Scent of roses to me and probably a lot of people was the perfect ending. It was a great way not only to end the series but a perfect transition the the knight rider 2000 movie in the early 90’s with the red dodge stealth/Pontiac banshe concept.
'Wait, this isn't goodbye, is it?' Thinking the same thing about this channel as there's still more scenes to upload. Like "Goliath Returns" for instance.
I'm still staying subscribed, though. Good thing Netflix and Amazon Prime still have the series available, or I would feel kind of betrayed by the fact that NBC has moved it from their free app over to Peacock...
This probably wasn't the intended series finale. The show suffered from poor ratings, stale plots and writing in season 4. The show was canceled after the season.
Yeah it sucks that Knight Rider did not get to end the series with a true Series Finale, I am pretty sure Voodoo Knight was hardly the episode they thought they would end the series on. I really loved that show for all four seasons of the series, there will never be anything else quite like it.
Henry Gibson as Donald crane only final episode of knight rider knight voodoo. Donald Crane try to get of the kitt black t top when Michael say lock him kitt. Then Kitt lock the door with auto door button left and right button. After Michael and Rc finish the fighting the two earing men. Michael say way to go rc and the rc3 gives him thumb up the right hand.
The series if it wasn't to be canceled would be continued after Voodoo knight which was the last episode in the forth season! For me the most suitable episode for a series finale was sent of the roses, which see michael's wife being murdered in their seremony and shows that michael in the end abandoning the foundation! At least this how it shows after they killed the love of his life if i remember correctly! Tell me your thoughts if sent of the roses would be more appropriate for a series finale ppl! 🤔
NBC got a lot right in the 80's & 90's (Facts of Life, Gimme A Break, The Cosby Show, Knight Rider, Miami Vice, A Different World, Cheers, Family Ties, Friends, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, NBA on NBC, etc...) But the ending to Knight Rider? Not one of those things.
Knight Rider should have been perpetual..much like Doctor Who. Keep the same vehicle (not a TARDIS, but KITT), but a different driver/hero with their own personality ever few years or so.
It's too bad Michael or KITT didn't get the last line in, because we would have expected one of them to, but instead it was Devon (not that I have anything against Devon). Its just a shame that the show went out quietly like this, instead of a big bang, or having Bonnie around. If The Scent of Roses was the actual series finale, it would have been a fairly depressing way to end the series, but given what we got instead, it would have been a way better ending. I would like to ask David Hasselhoff about if he knew what would have happened if the show had been picked up for a 5th season. I know some people on here have said that KITT would have gotten destroyed (again), and Bonnie would have been killed off, too. I wonder if they would have brought April back, and if RC3 would still be with the foundation. So many questions, but I'll probably never get them answered.
Yeah. I do like the show. I don't mind if other people do. I do agree with people that the transformations were a bad choice. If KITT was a Camaro, the show wouldn't been far better. It's like saying if one brother (Firebird Trans Am) isn't available, the other brother (Camaro) can be used, not the enemy (Mustang).
I actually didn't mind season four too much, but yeah, I can see what you mean. This episode is a clear indicator that season four was a rough time. A small part of me thinks that once the new supervising producers Burton Armus and Bruce Lansbury came along, that was when the show started to take a dive. I know that Burton Armus came along in the third season and he wrote and produced quite a few episodes, but I felt that his contributions were a preview of what was to come for the fourth season. I'm more than likely wrong, but it seemed like a lot of the episodes started to feel more grounded and based around themes found in cop dramas. Probably because Burton Armus was a cop in New York during the 70s, so his experiences and cases he probably heard about were written in. Thats my opinion, but its probably wrong. I also know that Super Pursuit Mode was brought in to keep viewers for the fourth season.

"Scent of the Rose" is the true series finale in my view
I think it's the true series finale in many fans views.
I agree...
The series should have ended with Stevie living and Michael and Kitt retired. Then come back as a tv movie every other year.
I agree. That ending scene with Michael on the beach returning to KITT and driving off to go back "home" to the Foundation was a fantastic ending
💯 In fact, this episode and at least a few more from Season 4 DO NOT EXIST (at least to me 😬).
I think we can all agree that Scent of the Rose will always be the one and true series finale in hearts and minds of die hard Knight Rider fans.

Still wish "The Scent of Roses" had aired as the finale instead of "Voo Doo Knight". This final scene ends as though there would be another season.

I think one was planned and the season premiere would have had KARR return, KITT destroyed again, and Bonnie killed.

Throughout this episode Bonnie was nowhere to be seen, it seemed that she left this show early.

I hope she stays there
won't be long till a knight rider reboot
