lebron is never going to retire. that fukker is doping
The Golden Era of basketball to me was that early to mid 2010s Run, When teams just played to their Identities.
You had Ball/people movement teams like Spurs, Iso slow grind teams like Celts/Lakers/Grit n grind Grizzlies, Defense Running and incredible play making like The Heat and OKC, Tempo teams like Clips/Early Warriors. Teams weren't slow af Iso ball like the 90s/2000s and teams weren't just jacking up 3s all game like now.
Like man the Celtics are so good Jrue White Brown Tatum Kristaps Horford but OMG its just a 3pt analytics contest every game for them.
Amen to that. I’d say 2008-2016 was peak NBA.
People in the future aren't gonna understand how good Jimmy Butler actually is. His stats don't fully show his hustle
Not to be rude. This is what so called old heads tell younger guys about older players when they bring up stats.
@@dewanewelch1744 They're right tho. If you look at Tracy McGrady's stats only he doesn't seem that special, but he was amazing. The eye test is important.
@@DLtheGreat I know they right. They kept trying to tell them you actully have to have seen them first. Alotnof players now will be forgotten and underrated just like older players were.
Same thing with Ben Wallace. His career stats seem like those of a role player, but you actually have to watch highlights to know how much of an impact he had on the game that goes beyond the box score numbers. He kinda made defense fun to watch seeing an undersized center getting physical down low and holding his own against taller big men. Inspirational in some ways.

That thumbnail for guys still in their 30s in insane
Especially early 30s. With the way players prime years lasting past mid 30s now due to advancements & less physicality they got plenty good years left if major injury avoidable. Ant Edwards could possibly do stuff like this for 10+ years.
@@hbk2221What advances? Keep lying to yourself so you don’t feel old. 33 and up is old for the NBA.

@@John-ct9zs Yeah, learn to read. I said 30 - 33 isn't old, not 33 & older. Early 30s in the NBA is not the Early 30s of 10, 20, 30 years ago. On the Kawhi point. I had a conversation with my dad about a year ago when he went down again in the playoffs. I made the point that he’s one of those players who is gonna play a certain amount of years but in reality he didn’t because of injuries. Like for example, if he plays 14 years it’ll really be like 11 or 12 because if the injury tax
The last time Kawhi was healthy he blew a 3- lead and scored 0pts in 4th quarter of game 7.
That might very well be the last memory of Kawhi Leonard

Dude you're not even a real fan anyway. You're probably just one of those guys that think professional athletes are just slaves to entertain you. 🙄
I've witnessed a few eras come a go from about 1990 to now and its always a pretty seamless transition...in a few more years we'll be saying goodbye to players drafted in the early to mid 2010s while we witness the primes of luka, shai, edwards & tatum
My era early mid 2000s until now it happens father time undefeated 😅
The Stars of the 10s have a legacy that will live on in Basketball history. Player control, high skill level, insane athleticism, the dramatic story lines and contexts. 2010s basketball was unique and truly entertaining.

The 80s babies caught all the best eras! just saying
This generation of young fans are spoiled in a sense to be able to see their favorite players from childhood play so late into their careers at a high level.
My hot take? If they wanted to create one last super team I'd actually like it. It would be more like the Celtics when they were past their prime. Bit more respectable then. Make the new generation really earn it, and have fun before retiring.

Mainstream media will never acknowledge Giannis, Joker and Luka as the next face of the league.
They're more hyped on Ja, Ant, SGA or even Embi (who recently became American). These players checks 1 of the 2 qualifications to be the next face of the league.
American ✅
Black ✅
This has nothing to do with race but rather with watchability and market size. You’re right about the American aspect tho. An ordinary NBA-fan who only watches highlights and important games will always prefer insanely athletic or flashy players over fundamentally sound ones who score in the post or on the FT line. Also it is easier to market American guys to a American audience.
@@a.e.a. The dummies underestimated the potential market of international players
@@pauljoseph3081 As someone not from the US you’re 100% right. Luka, Giannis and Joker have absolutely increased NBA following here.

I added this to my watch later and still been hesitant to click on it because thoughts of my favorites retiring is damn depressing.
I am very glad the new era players are taking the spotlight. The older superstars have lasted much longer than previous generations of superstars before them that it was getting boring.
The 90s and the 10s were my favorite NBA watching days
Great video
Was never a GSW bandwagon fan, but I appreciated how that team re-energized the league and brought something we hadn't seen before. That last regular season game between OKC and GSW in the 2015-2016 regular season is a good memory of just how exciting NBA basketball can be. 10 years from now Curry might be considered the face of that era.
It’s crazy cause I feel like this has happened in 2 waves. One was an around a decade ago. Now we’re getting close to round 2
Its because the old stars refuse to retire already. Its annoying tbh
Cleveland reunion for Bron again with Spida would be cool, but he'll probably just resign in LA.

His mindset and mentality is what makes him better then he should be for example I think mikal bridges has the perfect game and right size to be a top 5 player or better but hes not aggressive enough to be that guy but drop mitchell brain and attack mindset and bridges would probably win a scoring title and be a better leader for the nets, better yet drop cam Thomas brain in mikal bridges and he'd definitely win a scoring title but maybe wouldn't be a great leader just a bucket
Bron should absolutely go East. Philly or Cleveland.
this was my era, I started watching in the 2016 finals, became a knicks fan, my favorite player became Carmelo Anthony. My brother’s favorite player became Jimmy Butler. I watched Lebron’s heroics, Hoodie Melo, Curry and Klay’s sniping abilities, KD’s snake move, Westbrook’s MVp szn, Harden and CP3 almost ending golden state, Kawhi’s toronto ring, Dame ending OKC with a deep 3, D Rose dropping 50, Jimmy dragging the Heat to 2 finals. This generation is slowly coming to an end.

I’m 22 so this is my first time seeing the passing of the torch between eras it is truly a heartbreaking yet amazing things to see I’m all here for it honestly
Also 22 and started watching nba in 2011 so I got to see the tail end of the 2000s era players pass the torch a new era. Kobe, Timmy, Kg, Pierce, Dirk. Seeing the stars they passed the torch to starting to reach the tail ends of their careers definitely feels heartbreaking
@@danny9732 yea but I think their passing of the torch was kinda passive yk Father Time made those guys pass the torch but the guys that are passing it today are still competent basketball players you know I honestly didn’t expect Lebron and Durant to both get beat down like they did curry not even making the playoffs it’s wild honestly

Crazy we are shifting and witnessing the end bro💀💀💀😭😭
I was so stoked in 2017 to watch Russ go off every night and carry a team of scrubs to the playoffs averaging a triple double
Joel is only 30. I think he needs to embrace the 2013-14 Duncan role if he wants to play long. Don’t go for 35 every night during the season, save it for the Playoffs. Let Maxey slowly take the reigns.
"Lebron's maintaining a level of play...."
Dude, your only job here is watching ball. Anyone who watches it knows Lebron been loafing around. He isn't outrunning cats to get breakaway dunks. He's already there cause dude doesn't play D.
A consistent theme I see is who accepts their fate first? All of these guys seem nowhere near a title, so which guy just shrugs their shoulders and stays put
Unlikely but imagine if we get a year like 2016 where 2000s NBAs shed tears when Kobe, Tim Duncan, KG and Ray Allen all retired within the span of a few months.
As a sixers fan as much as it hurts to see a potential Embiid departure go down, he probably has 2-3 years Max with this level of dominance before his body gives up on him, we have to trade him in my opinion
oh the dom curse gonna show up and either kill basketball or make these legends have another 10 year career.
The warriors, the suns , and the lakers are still contenders. They just need the pieces . They all were over 10+ games over .500 this year and just needed a better more consistent supporting cast.
