    Seems a good honest review Greg👍
    Hopefully Hayter picks up on your review and points.
    Definitely not taken me away from my Honda's.
    Totally agree regarding the mesh bag total pain in arse in the wet! I have multiple bags and switch around between pressure washing.

      Cheers mate. Think mesh is very old fashioned and companies need to embrace new materials.
      Funny about Honda. I have access to a hrd roller and in the wet it’s definitely NOT better than this Hayter. So maybe you should switch 🤔👍🏻

    Verry good review this one.. And the point about the fabric bags no matter what brand I like this verry true. Makes me wonder if plastic box would be better. Reminds me of an old mountfield with plastic catcher.

    Hi, thanks for the video Greg.
    Would you say the harrier 56 (not the pro model) is a viable option for professional use? Do you ever review non Pro models. Thanks again.

    • @GregsMowing

      Hi David, which harrier 56 are you thinking? there are 3 domestic models. the instant one may not be good as that wiring loom can be problematic i've heard. the BBC one will be fine. got the same BBC system as the pro and the Hayter engine one will have a bit less power but can be tuned fairly easily.Hayter engine and instart versions doesn't have BBC! all the domestic ones now have plastic rollers where the pro has metal. Other than that gearboxes are the same. the pro has a stronger drive in the rollers. probably because the unit is heavier with metal rollers and bigger (slightly) engine and designed to cope with lot of use, few hours a day opposed to one a week which is domestic work.
      the wheels are a bit different on the green models too. not sure if it makes much difference but if you need a bumper the pro has that but you can fit one yourself. will need new front plastic with the fins attached which allows the bumper to fit. I would like to use the domestic models to compare. just getting my hands on one isn't easy. all have the same blade, the green 56 has a 70Litre bag like the 48 range inc pro. but the 56 pro and the prostripe have 80Litre bags. Hope that helps.

      @@GregsMowing Thanks for the detailed response, that is helpful. I was looking at the 574a which has no bbc, as im use to having no bbc so not too fussed about it. Im sole trader and careful with my machinery so not worried about bumper bar on the front either. I only do around 4 hours mowing a week so that's why I was thinking about domestic model. I think I will end up paying the extra for pro, don't like the idea of plastic roller. Just a shame I didn't get one earlier, they where £1150 at one point but I can't find anywhere online for less than £1300 now. Thanks again.

      Yeah they have gone up. Not by that much though ask your local dealer. If they know you use it commercially you get 2 year warranty. Need to service it after a year to keep the second year warranty. Best bet is local dealers to be honest.

    Hello Greg, I hope you’re doing well. That is an excellent and very thorough review indeed!
    So, first of all, would you buy another Hayter 56 Pro Greg? It’s interesting what you say about the collection box, the grass collection boxes so quickly become clogged in a very short time. A plastic box would be much better. I remember the early Mountfield mowers and the original Hayter Harrier boxes were both made of plastic or something similar. In fact, I think the Hayter box had a metal gauze on the side as well as ventilation gaps formed in the moulding. Sometimes manufacturers seem to go backwards!
    For a mower that’s been around for 45 years or so I think Hayter could do a lot better. I know the original Hayter Harriers were 19 inches rather than 22 inches, however, the principle is the same.

    • @GregsMowing
      @GregsMowing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching. Would I buy another?.?.?.? If the prostripe wasn’t sold yes I would. Agree early hayters had plastic boxed and they should go back. It’s not just Hayter. Honda and weibang are mesh only so they could all learn from the people using the machines 🤔😁

    Good review 👍 , my problems with this mower are the bar at the roller , worm castings collect and stop the mower dead resulting in a almost 10 min clear out of the gearbox,deck and roller voids , easy wash doesn't get here !! the mower also can't perform fast turn without a blowout of the bagged cuttings Especially when dry , Suction/pickup not as good as my old honda 21"553 or my lawnflite pro 553hrs once I removed the plastic fan on the blade assembly
    I feel I had a better mower in the lawnflite overall for pickup and brute force

    • @GregsMowing
      @GregsMowing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers.
      I haven’t had it blow out of dry cuttings when turning. Have you got the new upgraded blade on? The one with the spikes and holes has gone and new one has three rounded tips on it now. Some say the old style blade from few years back is best. I notice a lot more suction on my ProStripe (56 deck) with the new shape blade with the 3 rounded edges. Hope that helps.

    • @iamheretojudgeyou
      @iamheretojudgeyou 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GregsMowing hey Greg , it's a 2020 model with the rounded blade ends , the blow out happens at the bottom of the bag where it meets the deck , much more noticeable when Beech hedges are dropping leaves

    Been catching up on your videos....hayter should get you in when they redesign the hayter 56. It would be the prefect machine! I do feel like they dont listen to the customer feedback as much as they really should do.

    • @GregsMowing
      @GregsMowing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I appreciate the comment.
      They said to me at saltex they do listen to feedback and talk about it weekly. Maybe not right now with the current virus going round. The fact they changed the blade and bought out a slower drive kit after 1 year suggests they are listening and esp the blade probably wasn’t tested very well. ESP as it clogged up rollers which I first heard about after a month of them being out. So how can a machine be tested so well that pros find flaws after a month?!?!🤨🤨🤨🤨.

    In Hayters description they mention a variable pitch deck that adjusts itself?
    Have you heard of this or is it just on the newest production?

    • @GregsMowing
      @GregsMowing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Wayne yes it does. Vari pitch I think it’s called. Came out with the 41 series when that was released few years back. It’s not as big as say having a 4 wheeler with back wheels on its highest setting though

    Good review - Having one of these myself for a year now - the grass collecting between BOTH roller bars is a big problem, to the point where it actually stops the roller in some cases and it takes ages to clear the blockage. This is a very bad design fault and it never happened with my previous 56 I had just over a year ago. Can Hayter sort this out? Probably not, so it's a real pain in the arse to be honest.

    • @GregsMowing
      @GregsMowing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Paul. Thanks for watching. At the end of 2019 Hayter announced a new upgraded blade that was free to those with the new ones that had problems of grass jamming rollers etc. The blade has three rounded edges on the fin now. Not the spikes and holes. The new blade is a vast improvement on the harrier 56. However some say the blade from the previous models. With a rather simple looking fin. Is the best blade for all weather. So that would be worth looking into.
      If you got the machine from a dealer and mentioned it and had it serviced after the first year they should have replaced it with the new one for free.
      There are also most upgrades coming - more in terms of strength than actual styling and practically. Example being stronger front axle and metal strip in chain cover.

      @@GregsMowing thanks for that update. Ironically I just bought a new blade, but the same as the stock one when new ... I couldn’t see the new redesigned one anywhere. Saying that, I don’t commercially cut grass like yourself, however I have lawns over half an acre that I’m pretty fussy about getting right so I’ll have to ensure I mow when completely dry in future. I agree with some comments that Hayter should employ the opinions of a user like yourself ... rather than ‘testing bods’ who’ll never fully appreciate every possible issue that may arise through constant use in varied conditions and weathers. It’d quite possibly make the brand much more powerful over time. Just a suggestion. Thanks again.

    • @GregsMowing
      @GregsMowing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@paulmac007 fair enough. To be honest the new ones aren’t available online for some reason. Most Hayter dealers will stock them and they are quite cheap too. Alternatively the old style ones you can get ones for £10 off eBay. If you can cut dry grass it’s so much more enjoyable than wet grass 🤣🤣.
