@@sladesoshady4049 That's _actually_ more or less an accurate statement. The Aburame Clan raise insects that absolutely _wreck_ Doujutsu wielders by sheer happenstance. Theoretically, nothing apart from the needs of plot is keeping Shino from sending a swarm to _eat an opponent's Susanoo_ because it's _just Chakra_ in the end, which is what his insects feed on. This does _not_ make him more powerful than a typical Uchiha, though factually speaking he actually is; the compatibility is just awful between Uchiha and Aburame. Susanoo is useless, Fire Style consumes a _lot_ of Chakra and generally can't wipe out enough of the insects to keep them from repopulating in mere seconds, and Genjutsu doesn't do anything to bugs because their brains are too primitive to fool in such a sophisticated way. In a clash between an Uchiha and an Aburame of identical tenure and Chakra capacity, _always_ bet on the Aburame.

Itachis chakra pool would still be significantly higher than Sasukes. Itachi was dying and holding back while matching everything Sasuke dished at him and still outlasted his reserves
@@shakurwright2522 The Uchiha clan was known to have more POTENT Chakra, rather than Larger reserves. Since Sasuke is an Indra reincarnate it's safe to assume that he has more Chakra than the average Uchiha. So I'd say that Sasuke definitely had atleast a little bit more Chakra than Itachi, even if he was suppressing Orochimaru.
Itachi had incredible potential without a doubt its not about beating madara its just he had so much talent in him he was not an ordinary prodigy he had insane potential
I always felt like Itachi's MS abilities and his Susanoo were absolutely non-combative. Tsukuyomi is, in essence, a surefire way to avoid combat, so is the yata mirror. If combat is unavoidable, he's got ways to instantly end it in amaterasu and the totsuka blade. Itachi felt like a pacifist (I think it's mentioned in the manga in fact), and his abilities are essentially two ways to achieve peace: being violent or non-violent.
You do realize tsukuyomi can kill people right? He used it to kill his girlfriend and even Kakashi stated he could’ve killed him anytime he wanted. Everything he has was definitely combative
MS Abilities actually seem to be cruel and ironic takes on the trauma that caused them to awaken in the first place. In fact, Mangekyo Sharingan Abilities _seem_ to relate both to the _circumstances_ behind their awakening, and the _reaction_ of the wielder to those circumstances. In Itachi's case, his MS Abilities are literal takes on the metaphor that was his life at the time he got his Mangekyo Sharingan: His whole world effectively went up in flames (Amaterasu) along with any hope he had of saving his Clan, but he promised that he'd make Danzo's life a _living nightmare_ if he _ever_ reneged on his promise to leave Sasuke alone (Tsukuyomi). To his credit, Danzo took this threat seriously enough that he actually _complied_ with Itachi's demands up until after the latter's death. Similarly, Obito's MS awakened when he watched Rin commit suicide-by-Kakashi. He ultimately decided that the world he was living in _had_ to be a lie, and he committed in that instant to Madara's plot to create an entirely new world where neither he nor anyone else needed to fear harm ever again (Kamui). Sasuke's MS Abilities are akin to Itachi's. His world and everything he knew about it went up in flames (Amaterasu) after Itachi's story was revealed to him, but he ultimately decided that the fault lied with _everyone else_ and so he vowed to make the world _burn_ (Kagutsuchi). We don't have the full context behind Shisui's circumstances to know what his story is for certain. I can speculate, however, that after he allowed someone who he considered a friend to die out of jealousy, he felt _tremendous_ remorse, guilt, and self-loathing for having done so. In this moment, he wished that he could have been a different, better person and vowed to do what it took to keep others from making the same mistakes he had (Kotoamatsukami).

Something you didn't talk about that I think would have had a big impact: if Itachi had never had the chakra sickness and had EMS from the start, how much stronger would he have been able to train to become? You mentioned how much they damaged his body over time, but without his body failing around him, he probably would have been continually improving on his power beyond what it just would have been without it there. If we assume his sickness was similar to Kimimaro's and any time he used his chakra, his sickness was killing him, we'd probably also have to assume that he would have known that and basically given up on training to improve his power at all, and he spent several years like that before it got him.
Madara will always be the strongest Uchiha clan member which is why the mere mention of his name strikes fear in everybody the creator himself said the hardest character to kill was Madara do to how powerful he made him

If anything Madara would have done better with his EMS considering he was more familiar with it, the only way i see Itachi winning is if he hits Madara with Tsukuyomi and stabbing him with the Totsuka Blade. Honestly the whole DMS Kakashi thing never sat right with me. It was undeniably cool and cathartic at the moment to see Kakashi rise to the moniker "Kakashi of the Sharingan" by mastering everything a Sharingan has to offer. But, the appeal of Kakashi, at least for me, was that he never had the Godliness to him that many villains and Kages of lore did. He always struck me as the boots on the ground Dog of War type. From the appreciation and mastery of the basics, the gear he always has on, the approach to missions and training his students he had. And that was and remains his appeal.
@@yanyanzhang5813I know I’m a year late but Kakashi isn’t that strong on his own without the Sharingan even as a hokage. Here’s my take on strongest to weakest hokage. 1. Naruto obviously. 2. Hashirama. 3. Minato 4.Hiruzen 5.Tobirama 6.Tsunade 7.Kakashi Hiruzen and Minato and Tsunade and Kakashi was hard to place but Minato with the rasengan, Sage mode, Flying Thunder God jutsu and him being a seal master on par with the Uzumaki should honestly be able to squeeze out an extreme diff against Hiruzen. Okay Tsunade and Kakashi are both strong. Hokage kakashi does have a much larger chakra pool and way more stamina than he had with the sharingan. And sure he does have many jutsu but Tsunade and her forehead seal (forgot the name of it) is really hard to kill. And with her knowledge of the human body and immense strength one wrong move from Kakashi and he’s down. I see many people say Tsunade is the weakest because of her battle with Kabuto and Orochimaru in og Naruto but at that point she hadn’t seen real combat for easily 10+ years. Kakashi would honestly do better with the sharingan because of Kamui and he could use Chidori/Raikiri. Yes he does have purple lightning which he created himself. It is however still a weaker version of the chidori/raikiri. Now if you count in all other Kage then yeah he is one of the strongest but still isn’t top 2 or 3. He is top 10 though. Those stronger than him are the hokage mentioned above, Fourth raikage A and the third raikage.

There's absolutely no way Itachi has the same Chakra reserves as Madara/Hashirama/Naruto. Even if he wasn't sick, his abilities weren't limitless. Madara literally summoned 25 susano-os on a whim.
@@martian14 In all fairness, this was only _after_ Madara souped himself up with the Hashirama Cells he hickied off of his boyfriend. Edo Madara isn't really a fair comparison to _anyone_ in the series. Madara during his battle that formed the Valley of the End, however, is a _much_ more reasonable benchmark, since that's basically the limit of power he was able to attain on his own.

The only thing i do not understand is how did itachi get the totsuka balde and yata mirror? From what orochimaru and zetsu said, it sounds like these weapons were things anyone could have found in the world. But itachi somehow grafted it into his susano, which is something that, (as far as im aware) no one else has been able to replicate.

I find people's head canon version of Itachi to be so charming. It's sort of like watching an athlete with a promising career having it end on an injury and then all the speculation of what could have been. When in reality we will never know.
You can't compare these two. Madara 1. Used hashirama cells and #2 he obtained the rinnegan(also only got that ability from hashirama cells) and #3 more times than one needed a tailed beast to fight with him. Itachi on the other hand focused and perfected his sharingan. Itachi had such a high level of power just from mastering his sharingan. A level of power Madara quite frankly couldn't achieve with his sharingan, that's why he need hashirama cells and the rinnegan. When comparing these two sharingan users there is no contest whatsoever. Itachi is an example of how strong an Uchiha can become using Uchiha abilities while Madara on the other hand only got his power from hacks outside of himself
In my opinion Itachi is one of the most Unique, Authentic and Influential characters from the series. The thing that people underestimate about Itachi fights/encounters, isn't just his power, (it's mainly writters or Kishimoto's fault for making Itachi seem or to look very powerful throughout the series) but how smart and intelligent he is during various situations, he never, ever underestimates his opponents because of his composure and his way of being, the level of thinking he's on honestly dwars most people in the series, with only people like Minato and Shikaku comparable with him. More precisly, Itachi isn't just an ordinary Shinobi also, he pretty much knows and he's also aware that all strong opponents have weaknesses (including himself), and he specializes in finding those "weaknesses" and exploiting them ("*Even the strongest of opponents always has a weakness*" - Uchiha Itachi) because he's that type of character who can exceed almost any expectations. Itachi is very unique and authentic, especially in the factor of facing various encounters approach, his unpredictability in his way of fighting style approach it's his key factor in all of his encounters. Being blind or nearly blind has never slowed him down (especially when he's pretty much serious, but that's the point, he has never go all out against anyone during the series.) Itachi it's that type of character who can exceed almost any expectations. (at least that's what we were shown in the anime by the creator Masashi Kishimoto). Moral of the story, never underestimate Itachi. He did more sick then most healthy ninjas do in their entire life. In my opinion No One should underestimate such an unpredictable Shinobi like Itachi, even Madara (I won't say that Itachi can beat him, but at least he will be pretty much able to put a decent fight that Madara will also be impressed in my opinion). Also how can some of you guys even consider that Totsuka Blade it's slow when no such speed feat has been shown through the Shippuden that state it that it is slow? All of you are assuming it to be slow it may not be the case... Its not that the sword is unavoidable but it clearly has a very long range and is a very long blade. If you look at the manga, Naruto, Bee and Itachi are all relatively small from Nagato's point of view, and you can see the Totsuka Blade extending all the way from Itachi, piercing through Nagato, and still managing to nearly pop out toward the reader out of the page. I would say its fast because Kabuto coudldn't even react to it, and its not like Nagato was completely immobile to the point that he couldn't sidestep the blade. Also, Kabuto controlling people from far away is never stated to inhibit the Edos' reaction speed in any way. Being controlled by someone thousands of miles away didn't stop the Third Raikage from dodging KCM Naruto's Rasenshuriken. And as for Orochimaru, the sword struck him in between syllables of a word during his speech. I think that that is pretty fast. Pair the Totuska Blade with a good feint and its lethal because its ethereal, meaning it can pierce through any object. If the sword didn't live up to its reputation then Orochimaru wouldn't seek it out. People need to stop downplaying Itachi and denying the very clear speed feats of Totsuka. There is no room for interpretations here. The advantage of being an Uchiha, especially for Itachi and Madara, is that during an encounter against them, they always have a counter because of their unpredictable way of fighting factor, they don't run out of options or techniques, they almost always have a counter in their arsenal, even forbidden jutsus seems irrellevant against them, only a few Uchihas know a certain way to approach the situation with a certain and effective technique, that's why is hard/difficult to fight against them in my opinion. ☯️ 🤷♂️ Here are the things that make Itachi so formidable. Tsukuyomi - A genjutsu so powerful that you literally can't escape it unless you have the same blood as Itachi, as stated by Itachi himself and proven later by Sasuke, or you're a jinchuriki. Jinchuriki are supposed to be immune to genjutsu but it hasn't been proven, but when Bee was fighting Edo Nagato and Itachi with Naruto, he said to watch out for Tsukuyomi explicitly. Literally 99% of all opponents fighting Itachi have no way of stopping Tsukuyomi. You could have the power to split the planet in half and it wouldn't matter. (Want to know why? - Kakashi pretty much state it in the actual anime and manga that Tsukuyomi it's such a dangerous Genjutsu Technique because it happen in a instant, even if you realize that you are trapped in the Tsukuyomi, it will be too late, because Itachi could approach you during that time in the real world (or he can use an Explosive Clone to approach you without you even realizing it in time and he can pretty much finish you before you can even realize, - 72 hours in Tsukuyomi realm means 1 second or a couple of seconds in the real world. Tsukuyomi can't be broken, when used to it's fullest.) The Sword of Totsuka and Yata Mirror - The Susanoo itself is a near invincible defense but these two weapons take it to the next step. The Sword of Totsuka can seal "anything" if it even touches it. It's completely OP. It's hard to fight a guy that can seal you away if his sword even touches you. The Yata Mirror is even a bigger deal in my opinion. It doesn't block attacks, it's "negates" them. You could throw an Amaterasu covered Bijuu bomb at Itachi and the Yata mirror will negate it, making it so the Susanoo doesn't even need to take a blow. You could punch the Yata mirror and the force will completely be negated. His biggest strength of all: tactical intelligence - Itachi always outsmarts and plans for everything because the plot demands it. You're physically strong? Itachi is already 2 steps ahead of you knowing exactly what to do. You're extremely fast? Again, 2 steps. You're going to try and outlast Itachi in a fight? Good luck. To add to this, some of the 3 most powerful techniques in the verse are due to his intelligence and planning ability; Izanami, Izanagi, and Kotoamatsukami. Izanami - A forbbiden genjutsu technique that allows you to alter someone's destiny. Impossible to break out of even if you know you're in a genjutsu without complying with the users set destiny for you. Even someone like Bee, a perfect Jinchuriki, can't escape Izanami unless he does what Itachi wants him to. Izanagi - You somehow gained an advantage over Itachi? He makes it so that advantage never happened. Kotoamatsukami - Though Shisui's technique, Itachi has his eye which effectively makes it his weapon. A genjutsu so powerful that the person it's cast on doesn't even know they're under a genjutsu. Like the Tsukuyomi, completely OP. To add to all of this, Itachi is pretty good at hand to hand combat, is great with shuriken, is extremely fast, is great with regular fire techniques, is slippery and unpredictable, and has the extremely dangerous and fast Genjutsu style of fighting approach that can caught you off guard almost at any time. With all of these things considered you've got one dangerous ninja. Lastly but not least Kishimoto made sure that Itachi was seen as someone special and he did an incredible job in establishing that in the story. When Itachi Uchiha awakened his Susano'o, he was seen wielding legendary weapons of the Totsuka Blade and the Yata Mirror. The former allowed Itachi to seal anyone he pierced in a world of genjutsu forever, while the latter gave him the ability to deflect any and all attacks thrown towards him, regardless of whether they were physical or spiritual in nature. According to Zetsu (who was around since the period of Kaguya time era until the present of Naruto) he state it in the anime and also in the manga that these weapons, when combined with his Susano'o, made Itachi Invincible. This is why Kishimoto basically had to give him a handicap: Naruto AIDS. 🤷♂️ ☯️
To be fair, not a lot of people would even scale to an alive Madara without the boosts. Madara is just that dude. So the fact that a live/prime Itachi with EMS and no sickness would rival Madara would be insane. Only the likes of DMS Kakashi, Guy, Hashirama, and maybe a prime Hiruzen could beat an alive Madara without the 10 tails amps

Nah Madara that one panel where Madara was fighting the shinobi army and all the tailed beasts and he just kinda sighed and thought it was child’s play really puts him on a different scale.
People also forget that Madara never even had his MS ability revealed and wank shit like "Itachi killed the Uchiha clan". Not as impressive as it sounds. It may be true that all the Uchihas were mobilized eventually but they were still caught off guard, most of them were fodder comparable to the shinobi alliance anyway + he didn't even solo them, Obito was helping.
Now Also think of this. Will to live training and nothing holding him back. If he wasn’t held back by ms and his sickness his ability would skyrocket tremendously because he wouldn’t had nothing to hold him back. Remember he wanted to die but he wanted sasuke to be the one to do it. So he only kept himself alive but on the brink of death. Plus him having ms since the Uchiha Massacre would mean that he would be stronger from there with better training time. In reality he solos the Naruto verse

A NCHammer video about my favourite character, Itachi, you know I'm clicking the play button as fast as possible. This tragic hero is a fan favourite for a reason. Top 3 or 4 along with Naruto, Sasuka, and Kakashi. It would have been very interesting to see a healthy version of Itachi in the manga. But since we can't, this video does it for us. These two versus videos of Itachi versus Madara, and Minato have been fun to watch. Great work.
late to the party but a note i haven't seen in the comments concerning Itachi is: The thing Itachi took pride in the most was being able to break down any jutsu he saw. It would certainly have to be a quick fight but even then, I don't see Madara allowing a quick fight to take place. As we've seen countless times, his pride will force a fight to be drawn out just to test how strong the opponent is. This could also play into Itachi finding a way to dispatch Madara but I agree, I feel like it's a coin toss, but I favor Madara in this situation. i also believe his SS shield would protect him from Limbo which too is a spiritual jutsu and the quickest way to end Madara would be to use the sealing blade.

Kishimoto tell himself in one of the interview that itachi will take on madara. He said its not just about power different but how smart and crafty you are and itachi will definitely overpower madara in that term.

Tbh, even if Itachi wasn't sick and had an EMS, the only Madara he could possibly beat is Final Valley Madara. Madara was too OP, literally took writing aliens in to stop the madman.
Bit late, but I think it's important to note that we know Ninjas continue to grow in their 20s, and the only EMS Sasuke we saw was in the 16-18 range. I understand the comparison in chakra pools, but Itachi is straight-up older, which means if you say his chakra pool is = to Sasuke, then it should in fact be larger. Another note you didn't touch on because you were so focused on EMS was training. If Itachi doesn't have anime aids, then he of course can train MORE and be more EFFICIENT in it, as his body isn't constantly trying to kill himself. While I agree with your assessment of the coin flip with Madara, I do so with these reasons in mind. Alongside that, we also know that EMS grants something EXTRA ability-wise from Sasuke. Now, if that something extra is because it's an eye upgrade, or if that something extra is because you gain at least some of the abilities of the person whose eyes you took (thus Sasuke gaining Blaze Release from Itachis Amateratsu), is unknown to my knowledge. So it's hard to say if Itachi himself would gain some of Fugaku's abilities or if his own would be upgraded.
Itachi doesn’t manifest a full susanoo because he doesn’t need it to fly or walk. All he needs is it’s arms. For a shield and sword. Also even when he was reanimated he only used an arm at times when fighting kabuto. And it make sense because Itachi had precise chakara control, he wouldn’t wasted on wings and legs if wasn’t gonna fly or run
I mean, the Uchiha Masscre isn't as impressive as it sounds on paper. You have to remember that it was actually Obito who took on the majority of the military for e of the Uchiha, Itachi mostly took down their civilian population minus a few outliers. Killing that many Uchiha is still impressive regardless but most of them were like high Chunin level at best lol

I totally agree! But maybe he could go even further... I don't know if it's only me... but even knowing his cold mentality and behavior, I felt like he never even tried to fight anyone seriusly at 100% full potential (besides that egg... LOL). bro di** riding Itachi way too much. -Itachi didn't want to kill kabuto and kabuto was also trying to get Itachi back to his control which could be accomplished if he could place that seal on his head. -Itachi was the one attacking Naruto while conversing. so saying he is in equal in terms of KCM1 speed then that's just wrong. -he was literally fighting Nagato who was being controlled by Kabuto. -knowledge/data about yata mirror is outdated. Itachi might be intelligent but except that everything else (strength, hax, ability, chakra pool, technique ) goes to madara
That's pushing it too far because it would also mean that Itachi could fight the same version of Hashirama for several days like Madara did while also using his MS and controlling Kurama at the same time.

I totally agree with the final conclusion that Nick came to. Abilities and strength so close to alive Madara's that a coin toss would be needed to determine a winner feels about right. But that being said... even with the sickness and MS overuse Itachi is still one of the most badass characters in the entirety of the Naruto universe.
Hypothetical EMS Itachi with TIME, and I mean a lot of time… could catch up to Prime Madara(Excluding the TenTails). But, just give him the amp and the time that EMS Sasuke had to adjust… he isn’t quite on Madara’s level. I could see Itachi with a giant totsuka blade being an issue tho, since he doesnt need to be stronger than his opponent to seal them with it.

To me it's a little ridiculous that these people who are so very powerful in physical capabilities and techniques aren't all that durable. I've always felt higher up Shinboi should have hardened skin naturally because of how powerful their chakra is. Like a kunai shattering when someone tries to stab them or breaking bones in your hand if you punch them. Only other Shinboi of their caliber could hurt them.
I take physical skills in the show as appropriate chakra control on those movements. Like how tsunada can hit so hard. Phaps they are saving their chakra instead of a physical skin enchnacemt, to stenghen attacks and add speed

Itachi's potential is insane. Using tsukuyomi he could train years while in the actually world would passed 1 second. He could became perfect sage in 1 second. In his world could create jutsu after jutsu, try em, upgrade em in 1 second. Tsukuyomi is the best training place in naruto, no limits and the time is frozen.

Itachi's sickness stemmed from becoming too powerful. The Uchiha's power grows with loss, and because Itachi had killed his whole clan, he experienced the most loss, leading to his illness.
I've heard multiple times that Itachi could keep up with KCM lvl 1 Naruto, but I don't fully agree. Itachi was the aggressor in that fight, and Naruto wasn't really fighting back, only defending himself. That's not to say that he wasn't a good fighter, only that his interaction with Naruto isn't a good comparison when Naruto wasn't trying

Theoretically, nothing apart from the needs of plot is keeping Shino from sending a swarm to _eat an opponent's Susanoo_ because it's _just Chakra_ in the end, which is what his insects feed on.
This does _not_ make him more powerful than a typical Uchiha, though factually speaking he actually is; the compatibility is just awful between Uchiha and Aburame. Susanoo is useless, Fire Style consumes a _lot_ of Chakra and generally can't wipe out enough of the insects to keep them from repopulating in mere seconds, and Genjutsu doesn't do anything to bugs because their brains are too primitive to fool in such a sophisticated way.
In a clash between an Uchiha and an Aburame of identical tenure and Chakra capacity, _always_ bet on the Aburame.

Since Sasuke is an Indra reincarnate it's safe to assume that he has more Chakra than the average Uchiha. I always felt like Itachi's MS abilities and his Susanoo were absolutely non-combative. Tsukuyomi is, in essence, a surefire way to avoid combat, so is the yata mirror. If combat is unavoidable, he's got ways to instantly end it in amaterasu and the totsuka blade. Itachi felt like a pacifist (I think it's mentioned in the manga in fact), and his abilities are essentially two ways to achieve peace: being violent or non-violent.
You do realize tsukuyomi can kill people right? He used it to kill his girlfriend and even Kakashi stated he could’ve killed him anytime he wanted. Everything he has was definitely combative
MS Abilities actually seem to be cruel and ironic takes on the trauma that caused them to awaken in the first place. In fact, Mangekyo Sharingan Abilities _seem_ to relate both to the _circumstances_ behind their awakening, and the _reaction_ of the wielder to those circumstances.
In Itachi's case, his MS Abilities are literal takes on the metaphor that was his life at the time he got his Mangekyo Sharingan: His whole world effectively went up in flames (Amaterasu) along with any hope he had of saving his Clan, but he promised that he'd make Danzo's life a _living nightmare_ if he _ever_ reneged on his promise to leave Sasuke alone (Tsukuyomi). To his credit, Danzo took this threat seriously enough that he actually _complied_ with Itachi's demands up until after the latter's death.
Similarly, Obito's MS awakened when he watched Rin commit suicide-by-Kakashi. He ultimately decided that the world he was living in _had_ to be a lie, and he committed in that instant to Madara's plot to create an entirely new world where neither he nor anyone else needed to fear harm ever again (Kamui).
Sasuke's MS Abilities are akin to Itachi's. His world and everything he knew about it went up in flames (Amaterasu) after Itachi's story was revealed to him, but he ultimately decided that the fault lied with _everyone else_ and so he vowed to make the world _burn_ (Kagutsuchi).
We don't have the full context behind Shisui's circumstances to know what his story is for certain. I can speculate, however, that after he allowed someone who he considered a friend to die out of jealousy, he felt _tremendous_ remorse, guilt, and self-loathing for having done so. In this moment, he wished that he could have been a different, better person and vowed to do what it took to keep others from making the same mistakes he had (Kotoamatsukami).

Something you didn't talk about that I think would have had a big impact: if Itachi had never had the chakra sickness and had EMS from the start, how much stronger would he have been able to train to become? You mentioned how much they damaged his body over time, but without his body failing around him, he probably would have been continually improving on his power beyond what it just would have been without it there. If we assume his sickness was similar to Kimimaro's and any time he used his chakra, his sickness was killing him, we'd probably also have to assume that he would have known that and basically given up on training to improve his power at all, and he spent several years like that before it got him.

Honestly the whole DMS Kakashi thing never sat right with me. It was undeniably cool and cathartic at the moment to see Kakashi rise to the moniker "Kakashi of the Sharingan" by mastering everything a Sharingan has to offer. But, the appeal of Kakashi, at least for me, was that he never had the Godliness to him that many villains and Kages of lore did. He always struck me as the boots on the ground Dog of War type. From the appreciation and mastery of the basics, the gear he always has on, the approach to missions and training his students he had. And that was and remains his appeal.
Basically kakashi is and will always be Kakashi. 💯

Hiruzen and Minato and Tsunade and Kakashi was hard to place but Minato with the rasengan, Sage mode, Flying Thunder God jutsu and him being a seal master on par with the Uzumaki should honestly be able to squeeze out an extreme diff against Hiruzen.
Okay Tsunade and Kakashi are both strong. Hokage kakashi does have a much larger chakra pool and way more stamina than he had with the sharingan. And sure he does have many jutsu but Tsunade and her forehead seal (forgot the name of it) is really hard to kill. And with her knowledge of the human body and immense strength one wrong move from Kakashi and he’s down. I see many people say Tsunade is the weakest because of her battle with Kabuto and Orochimaru in og Naruto but at that point she hadn’t seen real combat for easily 10+ years. Kakashi would honestly do better with the sharingan because of Kamui and he could use Chidori/Raikiri. Yes he does have purple lightning which he created himself. It is however still a weaker version of the chidori/raikiri.
Now if you count in all other Kage then yeah he is one of the strongest but still isn’t top 2 or 3. He is top 10 though. Those stronger than him are the hokage mentioned above, Fourth raikage A and the third raikage.
I always thought that the debilitating pain and draining effect that Sasuke spoke about when using the susanoo only applied to its imperfect versions.
I believe it's only if you don't have ems, but I have nothing to back that up.

Edo Madara isn't really a fair comparison to _anyone_ in the series. Madara during his battle that formed the Valley of the End, however, is a _much_ more reasonable benchmark, since that's basically the limit of power he was able to attain on his own.

Itachi is the most capable shinobi of the narutoverse.
I find people's head canon version of Itachi to be so charming. It's sort of like watching an athlete with a promising career having it end on an injury and then all the speculation of what could have been. When in reality we will never know.
You can't compare these two. Madara 1. Used hashirama cells and #2 he obtained the rinnegan(also only got that ability from hashirama cells) and #3 more times than one needed a tailed beast to fight with him. Itachi on the other hand focused and perfected his sharingan. Itachi had such a high level of power just from mastering his sharingan. A level of power Madara quite frankly couldn't achieve with his sharingan, that's why he need hashirama cells and the rinnegan. When comparing these two sharingan users there is no contest whatsoever. Itachi is an example of how strong an Uchiha can become using Uchiha abilities while Madara on the other hand only got his power from hacks outside of himself

In my opinion Itachi is one of the most Unique, Authentic and Influential characters from the series. The thing that people underestimate about Itachi fights/encounters, isn't just his power, (it's mainly writters or Kishimoto's fault for making Itachi seem or to look very powerful throughout the series) but how smart and intelligent he is during various situations, he never, ever underestimates his opponents because of his composure and his way of being, the level of thinking he's on honestly dwars most people in the series, with only people like Minato and Shikaku comparable with him. More precisly, Itachi isn't just an ordinary Shinobi also, he pretty much knows and he's also aware that all strong opponents have weaknesses (including himself), and he specializes in finding those "weaknesses" and exploiting them ("*Even the strongest of opponents always has a weakness*" - Uchiha Itachi) because he's that type of character who can exceed almost any expectations. Itachi is very unique and authentic, especially in the factor of facing various encounters approach, his unpredictability in his way of fighting style approach it's his key factor in all of his encounters. Being blind or nearly blind has never slowed him down (especially when he's pretty much serious, but that's the point, he has never go all out against anyone during the series.) Itachi it's that type of character who can exceed almost any expectations. (at least that's what we were shown in the anime by the creator Masashi Kishimoto). Moral of the story, never underestimate Itachi. He did more sick then most healthy ninjas do in their entire life. In my opinion No One should underestimate such an unpredictable Shinobi like Itachi, even Madara (I won't say that Itachi can beat him, but at least he will be pretty much able to put a decent fight that Madara will also be impressed in my opinion). Also how can some of you guys even consider that Totsuka Blade it's slow when no such speed feat has been shown through the Shippuden that state it that it is slow? All of you are assuming it to be slow it may not be the case... Its not that the sword is unavoidable but it clearly has a very long range and is a very long blade. If you look at the manga, Naruto, Bee and Itachi are all relatively small from Nagato's point of view, and you can see the Totsuka Blade extending all the way from Itachi, piercing through Nagato, and still managing to nearly pop out toward the reader out of the page. I would say its fast because Kabuto coudldn't even react to it, and its not like Nagato was completely immobile to the point that he couldn't sidestep the blade. Also, Kabuto controlling people from far away is never stated to inhibit the Edos' reaction speed in any way. Being controlled by someone thousands of miles away didn't stop the Third Raikage from dodging KCM Naruto's Rasenshuriken. And as for Orochimaru, the sword struck him in between syllables of a word during his speech. I think that that is pretty fast. Pair the Totuska Blade with a good feint and its lethal because its ethereal, meaning it can pierce through any object. If the sword didn't live up to its reputation then Orochimaru wouldn't seek it out. People need to stop downplaying Itachi and denying the very clear speed feats of Totsuka. There is no room for interpretations here. The advantage of being an Uchiha, especially for Itachi and Madara, is that during an encounter against them, they always have a counter because of their unpredictable way of fighting factor, they don't run out of options or techniques, they almost always have a counter in their arsenal, even forbidden jutsus seems irrellevant against them, only a few Uchihas know a certain way to approach the situation with a certain and effective technique, that's why is hard/difficult to fight against them in my opinion. ☯️ 🤷♂️ Here are the things that make Itachi so formidable. Tsukuyomi - A genjutsu so powerful that you literally can't escape it unless you have the same blood as Itachi, as stated by Itachi himself and proven later by Sasuke, or you're a jinchuriki. Jinchuriki are supposed to be immune to genjutsu but it hasn't been proven, but when Bee was fighting Edo Nagato and Itachi with Naruto, he said to watch out for Tsukuyomi explicitly. Literally 99% of all opponents fighting Itachi have no way of stopping Tsukuyomi. You could have the power to split the planet in half and it wouldn't matter. (Want to know why? - Kakashi pretty much state it in the actual anime and manga that Tsukuyomi it's such a dangerous Genjutsu Technique because it happen in a instant, even if you realize that you are trapped in the Tsukuyomi, it will be too late, because Itachi could approach you during that time in the real world (or he can use an Explosive Clone to approach you without you even realizing it in time and he can pretty much finish you before you can even realize, - 72 hours in Tsukuyomi realm means 1 second or a couple of seconds in the real world. Tsukuyomi can't be broken, when used to it's fullest.) The Sword of Totsuka and Yata Mirror - The Susanoo itself is a near invincible defense but these two weapons take it to the next step. The Sword of Totsuka can seal "anything" if it even touches it. It's completely OP. It's hard to fight a guy that can seal you away if his sword even touches you. The Yata Mirror is even a bigger deal in my opinion. It doesn't block attacks, it's "negates" them. You could throw an Amaterasu covered Bijuu bomb at Itachi and the Yata mirror will negate it, making it so the Susanoo doesn't even need to take a blow. You could punch the Yata mirror and the force will completely be negated. His biggest strength of all: tactical intelligence - Itachi always outsmarts and plans for everything because the plot demands it. You're physically strong? Itachi is already 2 steps ahead of you knowing exactly what to do. You're extremely fast? Again, 2 steps. You're going to try and outlast Itachi in a fight? Good luck. To add to this, some of the 3 most powerful techniques in the verse are due to his intelligence and planning ability; Izanami, Izanagi, and Kotoamatsukami. Izanami - A forbbiden genjutsu technique that allows you to alter someone's destiny. Impossible to break out of even if you know you're in a genjutsu without complying with the users set destiny for you. Even someone like Bee, a perfect Jinchuriki, can't escape Izanami unless he does what Itachi wants him to. Izanagi - You somehow gained an advantage over Itachi? He makes it so that advantage never happened. Kotoamatsukami - Though Shisui's technique, Itachi has his eye which effectively makes it his weapon. A genjutsu so powerful that the person it's cast on doesn't even know they're under a genjutsu. Like the Tsukuyomi, completely OP. To add to all of this, Itachi is pretty good at hand to hand combat, is great with shuriken, is extremely fast, is great with regular fire techniques, is slippery and unpredictable, and has the extremely dangerous and fast Genjutsu style of fighting approach that can caught you off guard almost at any time. With all of these things considered you've got one dangerous ninja. Lastly but not least Kishimoto made sure that Itachi was seen as someone special and he did an incredible job in establishing that in the story. When Itachi Uchiha awakened his Susano'o, he was seen wielding legendary weapons of the Totsuka Blade and the Yata Mirror. The former allowed Itachi to seal anyone he pierced in a world of genjutsu forever, while the latter gave him the ability to deflect any and all attacks thrown towards him, regardless of whether they were physical or spiritual in nature. According to Zetsu (who was around since the period of Kaguya time era until the present of Naruto) he state it in the anime and also in the manga that these weapons, when combined with his Susano'o, made Itachi Invincible. This is why Kishimoto basically had to give him a handicap: Naruto AIDS. 🤷♂️ ☯️

People also forget that Madara never even had his MS ability revealed and wank shit like "Itachi killed the Uchiha clan". Not as impressive as it sounds. It may be true that all the Uchihas were mobilized eventually but they were still caught off guard, most of them were fodder comparable to the shinobi alliance anyway + he didn't even solo them, Obito was helping.
Now Also think of this. Will to live training and nothing holding him back. If he wasn’t held back by ms and his sickness his ability would skyrocket tremendously because he wouldn’t had nothing to hold him back. A NCHammer video about my favourite character, Itachi, you know I'm clicking the play button as fast as possible. This tragic hero is a fan favourite for a reason. Top 3 or 4 along with Naruto, Sasuka, and Kakashi. It would have been very interesting to see a healthy version of Itachi in the manga. But since we can't, this video does it for us. These two versus videos of Itachi versus Madara, and Minato have been fun to watch. Great work.

late to the party but a note i haven't seen in the comments concerning Itachi is: The thing Itachi took pride in the most was being able to break down any jutsu he saw. It would certainly have to be a quick fight but even then, I don't see Madara allowing a quick fight to take place. As we've seen countless times, his pride will force a fight to be drawn out just to test how strong the opponent is.
This could also play into Itachi finding a way to dispatch Madara but I agree, I feel like it's a coin toss, but I favor Madara in this situation. i also believe his SS shield would protect him from Limbo which too is a spiritual jutsu and the quickest way to end Madara would be to use the sealing blade.

Bit late, but I think it's important to note that we know Ninjas continue to grow in their 20s, and the only EMS Sasuke we saw was in the 16-18 range. I understand the comparison in chakra pools, but Itachi is straight-up older, which means if you say his chakra pool is = to Sasuke, then it should in fact be larger.
Another note you didn't touch on because you were so focused on EMS was training. If Itachi doesn't have anime aids, then he of course can train MORE and be more EFFICIENT in it, as his body isn't constantly trying to kill himself. While I agree with your assessment of the coin flip with Madara, I do so with these reasons in mind. Alongside that, we also know that EMS grants something EXTRA ability-wise from Sasuke. Now, if that something extra is because it's an eye upgrade, or if that something extra is because you gain at least some of the abilities of the person whose eyes you took (thus Sasuke gaining Blaze Release from Itachis Amateratsu), is unknown to my knowledge. So it's hard to say if Itachi himself would gain some of Fugaku's abilities or if his own would be upgraded.

I don't know if it's only me... but even knowing his cold mentality and behavior, I felt like he never even tried to fight anyone seriusly at 100% full potential (besides that egg... LOL). I totally agree with the final conclusion that Nick came to. Abilities and strength so close to alive Madara's that a coin toss would be needed to determine a winner feels about right. But that being said... even with the sickness and MS overuse Itachi is still one of the most badass characters in the entirety of the Naruto universe.

To me it's a little ridiculous that these people who are so very powerful in physical capabilities and techniques aren't all that durable. I've always felt higher up Shinboi should have hardened skin naturally because of how powerful their chakra is. Like a kunai shattering when someone tries to stab them or breaking bones in your hand if you punch them. Only other Shinboi of their caliber could hurt them.

Itachi's potential is insane. Using tsukuyomi he could train years while in the actually world would passed 1 second. He could became perfect sage in 1 second. In his world could create jutsu after jutsu, try em, upgrade em in 1 second. Tsukuyomi is the best training place in naruto, no limits and the time is frozen.

You have got several massive flaws for starters young itachi didn’t solo his clan he got the credit for sure but we saw itachi asking for obitos help and we saw obito doing part of the slaughtering as well so while itachi did kill some we have no clue how many were killed by itachi aside from the few ones we saw plus what madara is capable of as good as itachi was madara would stomp itachi it wouldn’t even be a fair or close match
Plus not to mention we have seen what that hypothetical would look like with edo itachi but regular alive madara with just ems is capable of fighting hashirama for a full day even without the restrictions madara wouldn’t have much of a struggle against itachi

Edo itachi was around kcm naruto. Tobirama said they were close to original strength revived. Let's say 80 85%. I think itachi not sick would be around kcm naruto vs obito with guy kakashi and bee.

we thought no one could do anything against Edo tensei and shinra tensei until Itachi completely nullified both in extremely short periods of time..
So the same can be applied to Madara’s clones with susasnoo because every jutsu has a weakness
Itachi had significant help in stopping both those tho, and was also edo which is basically a boost for itachi

Madara would most likely know what the Totsuka blade is and what it can do given that it is a tool used by Susanoo. Madara only allowed himself to take hits when he had regenerative abilities. Alive Madara would never allow himself to get hit by the totsuka blade. And Juubidara, we don’t know if the totsuka blade works on six paths characters, but I get the feeling it doesn’t since it’s not senjutsu.

What does Madara have that beats the Totsuka Blade? Even talking about war arc Madar, who was also using Hashirama cells, the only things he'd have is possibly sage mode. Again, that's only that 1 variant of Madara, pre-juubi. Also, as a counter-feat for Hashirama; Madara was probably far stronger than him as well. The fact that Madara knew what Tsunadae was using when she used the thousand healing jutsu and stated that Hashirama used something better means that he probably killed Hashirama several times but didn't stick because Hashirama could heal immediately. Without the heals he would've probably lost many of those fights.
Back to Itachi, though; what could Madara seriously do about the black flames without Hashirama cells? If he used the 9 tails, which requires we use a version of him before he got Hashirama cells, why wouldn't Kurama also be sealable by the Totsuka blade considering he was sealable by the reaper death seal? Madara is REALLY powerful, but a healthy Itachi with Dual EMS? Just as powerful but with more hacks.
Yeah madaras battle experience and taijutsu is way better but I think itachi is more naturally talented.

Itachi's sickness stemmed from becoming too powerful. The Uchiha's power grows with loss, and because Itachi had killed his whole clan, he experienced the most loss, leading to his illness.
I've heard multiple times that Itachi could keep up with KCM lvl 1 Naruto, but I don't fully agree. Itachi was the aggressor in that fight, and Naruto wasn't really fighting back, only defending himself. That's not to say that he wasn't a good fighter, only that his interaction with Naruto isn't a good comparison when Naruto wasn't trying

He wasn't reincarnated he was edo tensai, and that was a weaker version of him. The only advantage he had was the ms spam and constantly refilling chakra which was also smaller than his chakra alive with the illness.

I mean, this is like saying “what if Hinata could achieve 64 palms or even 128 palms back in part 1. She could’ve been as strong as Neji”, which isn’t entirely true. Neji was said to be a prodigy in the family. Hinata wasn’t a prodigy. Also, potential is great and all but if you never reach that potential, then it’s not part of your arsenal. End of story.
Neji was a prodigy and could do 128 palms in part 1. Hinata was timid and couldn’t even do 64 palms. Therefore, Hinata was never going to be stronger than Neji.
So Itachi being on par with Madara is basically never possible. He never had Perfect Susano. Plus he clearly wasn’t at Madara’s level. Itachi had enough trouble dealing with Killer Bee and KCM Naruto. If Itachi fought the 5 kage, he would’ve been rolled.
