This style of stove was the first that I learned to make .Over the years I have tried many other designs. This one has the advantages of being very simple to make, does not require a pot stand, and IMO works better than most other designs. Thanks for making the video.
This was cool and practical. Nothing kills the outdoor experience more than a complicated process to do stuff. Appreciate the whole calm and easygoing approach to this DIY project. Thanks!
Aww. the Kozel beercan stove guys. This was the only stove I was ever able to make after watching dozens of other styles. I've made quite a few of these and taught my nieces how to make them also. The guy demonstrating should do ASMR vids, he was mesmerizing.
I'm impressed about the way you made the stove with no holes for jets and how you were able to freehand it without the use of a block razor blade setup. I'm thinking that this is an easy in the field design that works. Good show sir.
Not only did I learn how to make the simplest and easiest alcohol stove I've ever seen, but I learned how to make healthier and tastier ramen! You my friend have earned yourself a subscriber. I have yet to view your other content but I have little doubt that it is of lesser quality and I expect that your future videos will equal if not surpass the quality of this video.
Excellent video. Many thanks. Just to add to your healthier food advice, please note that adding ginger lowers your blood pressure over time. You might want to just chew fresh ginger each day or have ginger tea with fresh ginger or dry powder ginger. It lowered mine significantly over 8 months and I am off meds now for last year and a bit.
Great video. I like the penny stove and made a few of them over the years. But it can be a bit difficult to get it right and too sensitive the the kind of alcohol used. This design look closer to the trangia. I have to try it. Also, you are absolutely right about the noodles. Keep up.
@pete my first penny stove was a fail. followed the instructions , but couldn’t get the vapers to light around the sides..at that point my damaged 🧠🤕give up. for yous it may Obvious what went wrong, but unless i go back and attempt it again, i’ll never know. i’ve made 4 different stoves in my channel & i finally putting them together for a test. surprising results. That's a sweet design man. I've been working on my own pop can stove for about a week now and really like my design but you need to help it get primed by tilting it. I used two bottoms and put a gromet in the middle of the top with 8 slits coming off the edge of the gromet and holes around the outside lip. It's also stuffed with fiberglass insulation, which i think helps prolong the flame...last night i clocked it at about 16 min/1.5 oz. with 90% isopropyl. I like how it stays at a low flame like a bunson burner until i help it, check it out. I haven't timed the low flame yet but i suspect it stays lit for hours. It could be a way to get a simmer going if needed. P.s. i love how you showed yours cooking, im going to make one like this tonight!
Hello. I’ve made a few stoves, but the penny stove was a fail. I like the indent (I was drilling them) this less agro lol. Thanks for sharing. Respect to the Soldiers and ex Servicemen Brian D.🇬🇧👍
Thank you for showing! I was introduced to this type of stove some years ago by two austrian hikers. I like it as backup in case, my gas canister stove do not work or I run out of gas. A pop can and some denaturated alkohol I can buy in every supermarket.
If you're having blood pressure issues, start eating a lot of celery. It took me one week to stabilize my blood pressure with celery. If your salary is pretty high it might take a couple of weeks. I used to have low blood pressure and I didn't like celery when I was younger. Unset my blood pressure started climbing I found that celery tasted good so the celery is something that is a natural way to help you control your blood pressure. Also, if you are near an Asian grocery, you can often find a mushroom based sauce or bras that will have a lot less sodium in it. Good luck and enjoy.
Wow! I used this method to create a self-contained glue-pot, or 'glue diner', for my shop. I simply attached this stove permanently to my existing beer can glue pot...simply fill the stove, light, and deploy the glue as needed. To get the smooth edge on the top, I used a cutting wheel on my Dremel...can also use a file or rasp.
That WAS simple. I can see that little stove made from the Red Bull can as a replacement for the much for expensive Toaks Siphon Alcohol burner. Thanks for the demo
I like the simple field expedient design of your stove. I think I would have put the noodles in first then added the seasoning later after the noodles cooked a while. I do like me some strong curry! Mmmm. A tip about noodles that I learned from my son, add some peanut butter and voila, you have pad Thai! Keep the videos coming! Great job!
If you put the seasoning in first, the water gets flavored as it heats. Then when you add the noodles, they get infused with the flavor from the water.
Any metal container can be an alcohol stove, this style doesn't need a pot stand. You can use two bricks for a pot stand or rocks, enjoyed your video. thanks
No need to cut the top out of the can except for appearance sake. With the lid still on I cover the top hole with a coin & get a better burn. sort of like the penny can stove idea. 🤠
To get an even mark around the top and bottom of the can to cut on, get something (a [stack of] book[s], board, stack of CD cases, a stick/branch....anything) that's the same thickness as the height of the burner you want. Put this thing on the ground and lay your knife blade on it with the tip protruding over the edge. Set the can in the ground next to the "thing" withthe knife tip touching the side of the can. Spin the can thereby scoring a line around it. Flip the can over and repeat. You now have 2 lines scored around your can, one on top and one on bottom, nearly the same height from each relative end.
More info on the knife please. I would love to have one. I'll be making this stove too. Your stoves are by far the quickest, easiest on the go stove build I've seen so far. These can easily be made on the go in case of emergency as long as you keep some fuel in your bag.
great build.Ive only made the penny can alcohol stove. In your opinion what do you think the advantage is of your new design compared to the common penny can stove is. Again awesome build
The advantage is that the penny can stove takes time to bloom, whereas this stove blooms almost instantly. Also, recovering unused fuel after snuffing it out. It’s much easier to pour it out of this stove back into your fuel bottle than it is from a penny can stove
You could make a much simpler alcohol stove. Just take that empty soda pop can, pour alcohol in through the opening in the top, and then light it. That is not the best alcohol stove, but it is the simplest, and it will burn, and produce heat.
This really is the simplest alcohol stove I've seen yet. Replacing the ring of holes with simple crimps cut out an entire step that everyone and their uncle had a trick for getting perfect.
Very Nicely Done ✔✔✔. You have taught us I clear and simple to follow instructors on how to make a very reliable and efficient stove. And even one with my limited building skills can tackle. Now on a related note, on the video there are two canteen cup stoves and I have been searching for info on the larger one, in the rear, the one not used in the video. Have you made any videos with that stand? Or how do you use it? Please, any info would be much appreciated! I need a canteen cup stove stand, but want a military aluminium to cut weight compared to canteen shop making a stainless steel frame that is very heavy and slow too warm up for cooking
Thanks for watching and commenting! The larger canteen stove you saw is a US Issue aluminum stove. As far as I know, these were being issued up until the military moved away from canteens and started using camelbacks. It is fully enclosed on the bottom and is meant for burning trioxane fuel tablets and setting the cup on top of the tablets. Placing the cup backwards on the stove allows it to sit just above the flame. I've found the tablets to be pretty useless for anything more than lukewarm water, but both of the stoves make perfect holders for homemade alcohol stoves to heat my canteen cup as long as they are not too tall. I'm fortunate to live near a couple of great surplus stores. I think I paid about $5 for the stove. Hope that helps. I will return to youtube one day, so keep watching!
Why do you need to take the top off the can? If is a pot pressured stove surely just the drinking hole is big enough to add fuel.I am yet to make any sort of stove. So am quite ignorant.
You can still use the Ramen noodles, but AVOID the seasoning pack. The salt is in the seasoning pack, not in the noodles. Tossing the seasoning pack out tosses out the salt.
To make a clean, even cut, place your knife on its side with the blade at the level you want to cut. Push the can gently against the blade, and rotate it against the cutting edge. Several times around with gentle pressure will score the can deep enough that you can then tear the can apart at the score line. Voila! A nice, straight, level cut.
Regards blood pressure, those generic valaruim /passion flower/hops blend sleep/anti anxiety tablets dropped my BP immediately (, im not a fan of big pharma products) Only side affect is feeling moderately more chilled out.
Sodium is not a problem for blood pressure if you keep your potassium levels up. A bigger problem would be the noodles themselves. Any food which contributes to chronic inflammation, such as sugars and starches, which also cause raised insulin, will affect blood pressure.
This is me thanking you later! "I jumped on the egg in my ramen" bandwagon a few years ago, but havent done it in the backcountry yet. Sooooooo delicious!

Easiest design I have seen so far!
You can still use the Ramen noodles, but AVOID the seasoning pack. The salt is in the seasoning pack, not in the noodles. Tossing the seasoning pack out tosses out the salt.
Good catch! 😁
If they contain seed oil this is very inflammatory. Stick to animal fat and olive oil and a lot of inflammation will go from your body.
Super helpful!
A P-38 GI can opener does a fine job of removing that top section.
JP Stone., Not it doesn’t work, only works with straight cans, the soda cans have a tapered end.
Can you make a simmer ring for that stove?

nice watch bro thanks.
That is awesome
nettle tea lowers blood pressure, its best to pick the young heads and dry them and then boil for ten mins like normal tea ;o)
I guess the hole is only needed if you are going to rest the pot directly on it?
Pretty cool. If you put hoes all around the can you can cook on the can without a stand as the holes act as burner holes.
No one has yet explained why it is necessary to remove the inside of the top ?
easier to fill
I watched the light up 3 times to be certain, and yes, it appears to spontaneously ignite. ( :

what kind of fuel?

@@Believe30 Then you should have asked "what kind of alcohol".
You gave yourself the answer anyways. They are all alcohol, so you can use all of them.

Video didn't show him lighting it.😕
Why didn’t you show how to light it?
You can light it with any match, lighter, or sparker.
The can is supposed to be the pot stand. This is why you make the small hole. By using another potstand you defeat the purpose of the design
why have scissors in a first aid kit?
To trim dressing pads if needed, trim bandage length if needed, to trim away hair if needed. Most first aid scissors have a round nose though, but any scissors will do those jobs.
