    Description
    Featuring a 2.4 GHz wireless X system with a range of up to 328', the AD600Pro Witstro All-In-One Outdoor Flash from Godox is a versatile tool compatible with several TTL systems, including Canon E-TTL II, Nikon i-TTL, Sony, and Panasonic. It offers up to 600W/s with nine steps of output power, ranging from 1/1 to 1/256, and comes with a powerful 28.8V/2600mAh lithium-ion battery pack that provides up to 360 full-power flashes in outdoor situations and location shooting. Alternatively, you can run the monolight on AC power with an included cord for when portability is not a concern.
    The AD600Pro Witstro features a high-speed sync mode that works with shutter speeds up to 1/8000 seconds, offering flash durations from 1/220 to 1/10,100 seconds. Another unique setting is its Stable color temperature mode, which tightly controls color to keep temperature changes within ±75K across the entire power range. Despite these impressive characteristics, it manages to keep recycling times low at 0.01-0.9 seconds for fast and reliable use, and is capable of 12 continuous pops at 1/16 power output. Finally, a 38W modeling lamp is available to help aid composition.
    2.4 GHz wireless system with a range of 328' (100m), featuring five controllable slave groups and 32 channels
    Guide number of 285' (87m) at ISO 100
    Can work as an optical slave with S1 and S2 modes
    Color temperature of 5600K (±200K)
    3.5mm sync cord slot for direct connection, wireless control port, and USB Type-C port for firmware upgrades
    First curtain and second curtain sync modes
    Dot-matrix LCD display for on-board control
    Bowens-type mount for use with compatible accessories

    Great review! I don't have the AD600 but i have used it before a few times and the one thing that bugged me was the weak modeling lamp. With this new improved lamp this will definitely be on my wish list.

    I will not be upgrading, but think this is still a very good value. Faster recycle is always wwlcome and love the new handle. The color accuracy is fine on my current unit for what I do, but that is a very important improvement for many users. Godox continues to raise the bar and improve value.

    I have the Xplor x2 with both the 600W and 1200W Extension heads, good stuff. The recycle is desireable and the color improvement is good too. Maybe that frosted head is taking just a little bit of the power away but it could still have less power than the Xplor and outdo the B1 because I think the B1 is only 500Watts.

      Can also be light concentration as Robert says in another video. I love using my Godox but with the AD600 the light spread is not nearly as good as my Broncolor. With the Pro, it will likely be much more even when using a standard or 65º reflector, all I wanted.

    One question that I did not see addressed (may have missed it) is:
    Does the unit fire a pre-flash to get the exposure before firing the flash for the shot?
    (Or does the TTL allow the flash to cut off at the exposure set, since it is monitoring exposure through the lens - without needing a pre-flash?)
    A pre-flash does cause a brief delay before the exposure, and the flash makes many people blink, so eyes can often be closed in the actual shot.
    Thanks!

    Are you having any issues with TTL on your Sony A7iii? I’m having SEVERE changes in TTL on my A7iii with the AD600 pro. Ready to send it all back. Try taking photos at iso 100, F5.6 in manual mode and move back and forth to your subject (a grey card) that is stationary and my flash is up and down up to 3 stops! It also changes due to F stop in TTL. I’m a pro since 2003 so I know how ttl works, just bummed with this combo and I’m using the Adorama R2 Pro mark 1 and mark 2, both the same. Could you test and let me know?

    During the comparison I kept thinking what's the 86 hundred? Good review though. Disappointing that they're not powered by mains too. Question though, with the new bulb with defused glass, I guess that changes the ability to create harsh, sharp, crisp, shadows & creates a diffused light?

    Would love to see a video on how the stable color mode affects photos (samples shown side by side), and how easy is it to correct or match in post.

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When it’s 1 light, it’s easy to correct the color temperature because it’s a global adjustment. When it’s 1 light + ambient or multiple strobes, it’s problematic to have color shifts because they can’t be corrected globally, they are shifting relative to one another.

    The new 38 watt modeling LED light looks super bright, but in the video it appears to be a much warmer color (like 3000k or so - very gold). Is it very warm, or is it just the appearance in the video? Would you say it is Tungsten color or Daylight color if viewing just the modeling light?

    I bought the flashpoint xplor 600 2 weeks ago from adorama, received used item instead of brand new, so just returned them. I think I will just buy the 600pro. Its more expensive, but hopefully being a new item, I won't receive an used unit again. While I prefer bhphoto, I will be buying the 600Pro from adorama for the 3 year warranty vs 1yr warranty.

    AD600 pro has much more powerful modeling LED vs AD600. Do you think that a pair of these would provide enough continuous lights for headshots? I use AD600 currently in strobe mode and was considering purchasing continuous LEDs but perhaps the PRO version would serve both purposes? Thanks!

    What do you think about think vs the orlit 610 & 601? Have you use the orlit system?

    • @JaredRibic
      @JaredRibic 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm actually selling my ORLIT 610 and upgrading the to Flashpoint XPLOR 600PRO (Godox AD600 Pro). It should arrive this week.
      Stable color, better flashtube design (extends deeper into the softbox than ORLIT), better modeling light, and Godox wireless system is much better than ORLIT.
      When I had issues with my Einsteins I decided to go with ORLIT because they offered Canon Speedlites and studio strobes that could be triggered on the same system. I found the wireless system to be unreliable (especially on the Canon 5D Mk4) and wish I would have gone Godox instead. After a few more triggering failures I decided to dump the ORLIT gear and go strictly Flashpoint/Godox.
      Already sold 4 of my 9 ORLIT speedlites (which have been replaced by Flashpoint/Godox speedlites), now I need to sell my ORLIT 610 and ORLIT Rover RT, along with three Einsteins. I'm super happy with the Flashpoint/Godox system and wish I would have done it sooner.

      Flashpoint is Adorama's house brand of lighting. Godox manufacturers the light, Adorama retails it as Flashpoint Xplor 600, and at the end of their listing it says (AD600).

    For what I do I wouldn't replace my exsisting AD600 for the newer pro version but I do welcome the improvements Godox have made. I find it a strange ommission that they will only release their " Pro " strobe with TTL rather than a manual option. Surely the Pro's that this is aimed at have a pretty good idea how to strobe without TTL and I'd venture to say few pro's will use the TTL functionality anyway. Just seems to be adding unnecessary cost to me. All in all and even at its higher price point I guess I should be comparing this to more expensive options from the likes of Pro Photo rather than Godox's own AD600. It would also have been nice if they had retained the same battery as the original, maybe the discharge properties of the original were not up to the faster recycle times so it was unavoidable perhaps? Surely it could still have been backwards compatible with the standard AD600 however. Theres no doubt that with this release and its improvements Godox are really attacking the higher end aggressively. With its total compatibility across all camera systems and its system synergy across all its products Godox will prove very hard to beat. 😃

      @Dances_With_Volatility 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      dunnymonster Hi. With the TTL function.. I think you underestimate the “pros” who use some of this stuff. Sure most strobist pros can set up their lights manually in a perfect studio environment with time but the run and gun wedding photographers among us don’t have time to perfectly meter/test shot everything with a bride & groom waiting getting bored or a whole group shot of 20 plus looking at you like you’re an idiot fiddling with lights. This was the reason I originally bough all my profoto gear(godox stuff now looking pretty interesting) for the quick setup TTL so I can concentrate on posing, location, and working with the people for the best possible shots. And hey if they include it and you can just switch it to manual anyway... everyone’s a winner. Cheers.

    • @dunnymonster
      @dunnymonster 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      James C That's a good point to be fair, I use TTL flash ( with full manual camera settings ) in event type photography myself for essentially the same reasons you sited. I guess I was looking more at portrait type work which is where I mainly use strobes. On consideration I forgot that the new X pro trigger which I recently purchased has the new TTL to manual power conversion so I could see that being particularly useful for somebody in your position where you want TTL to get the exposure pretty much bang on first time but you still have the option to tweak its output by reverting to manual without using compensation in TTL. At least this way you can keep your exposures constant without TTL adjusting each shot. I also assume that TTL functionality is simply software implimented so shouldn't add any additional cost in material terms to a manual only strobe? I am an ardent lightmeter user in the main but certainly if I was strobing events where time was of the essence then the AD600 pro would be an excellent choice 😊

    • @Dances_With_Volatility
      @Dances_With_Volatility 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      dunnymonster About 4-5 years ago the only reliable option I could consider using was, to the detriment of my poor wallet Profoto gear. But with a lot of truly interesting stuff from Godox over the last year or so I am seriously looking at switching to an easier system. The ad200 has been on my radar since its release now as I think that could happily replace my Profoto B2 I could actually buy like 5 ad200 for the same cost. The smaller form factor is so appealing and yes as you pointed out the new godox triggers look awesome. They now do exactly what the profoto triggers do. I just wonder what the power output on the ad200 is compared to the profoto B2. I might just buy one and do some testing. Unless Sir Rob Hall beats me to it. Thanks for the advise on the new trigger I may be about £300 poorer by the end of the weekend now. Cheers

      @robhallphoto  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think the "Pro" and "ttl only" have anything to do with each other. I'm thinking that having manual and ttl options of all their lights was stressing on their production. I'm willing to bet the future speedlites will all have a TTL only version, much like the AD200 and AD600 Pro have.

    • @albertocabrera6614
      @albertocabrera6614 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, thats a great point. Thou I will say a manual option makes the light more obtainable financially. But yeah. It makes no sense to make two versions when one can do both efficiently.

    Hello, how did you write to godox or how do you communicate to godox? I have an issue with the new Trigger X1Pro. When i set in my camera 320FP the i will see my shutter blade in the frame. When i set it ot 250FP then not. With the old XT-1-N I had no issues at all. Its not a big deal. BTW: The camera is a D810.
    Back to toppic. I work with the old moddel and i had new issues with the recycle times it is fast enough. The design i dont care, ttl i dont care. I loved to have more shoots instead of having a better recycle time. Nice (down)upgrade, but nothing for me and not for 400 bugs more. Sry godox not worth the upgrade.

      You should contact your dealer regarding any issues, not the manufacturer! My test models come from marketing team, they have nothing to do with QA though. The sync speed issue at initial HSS point has been an issue for a while.

      @mike_MKvipPhoto 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Joseph Brotherton: Of course you can use it manually - but I would end up paying for the TTL wiich I never use and don't need. Just for comparison: the AD360 and AD600 cost around 150€ more in TTL version.
      I'd grab a 750€ non-TTL verson of this flash in a heartbeat to complement my two AD600 and AD200 (and various Godox Li-Ion speedlites) - but on this one I'll pass.

    Hello. Great review! Unfortunately I had some problems with my ad600pro.
    After updating the firmware to 1.5, the Flash always activates the cooling fans at maximum power despite having the pilot lamp off.
    I am looking for the old firmware 1.3 or earlier to try the down grade. Do you have any suggestions?

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have no idea how to downgrade firmware, especially since they don't keep a history of it on the website. Don't think thats an option and wouldn't trust an outside source. Unless someone you personally know happens to have the old version which you could try (at your own risk) to install through the installer.

    Nice. Q1. Is the modeling light proportional? Q2. What flash angle (with minimal or zero light vignetting) and type reflector are used to specify the Guide Number?

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Q1 is addressed in the video, you can do proportional or dial in a %.
      Q2 I’ll be addressing in an FAQ video released this week

    • @jpdj2715
      @jpdj2715 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Robert Hall Photography - excellent, thanks. Q3 (for the Q&A), in studio and with modifiers, how many stops do you turn power down most of the time? Q4, (1/220 seconds IIRC is not very fast, shortest ~1/18000 IIRC fast enough to freeze) how do you deal with freezing motion? Are flash times as precise/repeatable as color temperature?

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Q3) that depends completely on the modifier, subject matter, and goal of the image, there is no typical answer there.
      Q4 I do not have the technology to test that so I’m always trusting the manufacturer

    Bcoz many photographers here in India facing the same issue with ad600 pro.

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh I brought it up right after in a follow up video. It's not lower output, the output is just dispersed more evenly because of the bulb design change. So the AD600 is simply brighter in the center on rear mount softboxes, particularly if theres only one layer of diffusion. Whereas the 600 Pro is a little less bright in the center but the edges are brighter. And if you put it in a beauty dish or reverse mount modifier, there's no difference.

    Robert, AD600 Pro is very similar to AD600B but is $200 more. Would you still recommend AD600Pro over AD600B and is $200 more worthy for new features?

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's no answer to this question, its completely dependent on the user.
      Is a 38w modeling lamp worth $200?
      Is double the recycle speed worth $200?
      Is better bulb design with more even spread worth $200?
      Is way more color stability worth $200?
      Are those features combined worth $200?
      Some will say yes and others no to all 5 of those questions, and that's what should determine the purchasing decision. And my personal decision shouldn't affect anyone else's.
      Sorry if you were looking for a yes or no answer here, but my purchasing choice is irrelevant to other users.

  • @infinityphotorob
    @infinityphotorob 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I tried out the original AD 600 and the deal killer for me was the flash did not fire until fully recycled. Does the new pro do the same thing? Or will it go off at partial power? Also flash duration? Looking at the chart is it really 1/250th of a sec? That will not freeze a feather falling. Super curious about these items.

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What light would? Most lights at full power are similar flash duration. You still need a full recycle but the decreaded recycle time might mitigate some of your difficulties?

    • @infinityphotorob
      @infinityphotorob 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Robert Hall Photography Einsteins and ABs will dump the flash even if they are not fully recycled. I believe in my testing Profoto will too. But yes the recycling will help a lot. It is a really interesting light.

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yes, many flashes dump partial recycles. I mean almost all flashes have a high t.1 flash duration near the 200s at peak power. Since the maximum brightness is achieved by extending the duration (not the max brightness), full power on strobes is typically at or near 1/200 to reach the sync speed of most cameras.

    How did you take the reading for output? Why do you think you are getting lower power? Understand that output is a function that is affected by light spread. You are not reading the output from the tube you are reading the output via reflector/ diffuser. Think about it, maybe one is creating a hot spot and that will effect your readings, The new model maybe giving a more even result that will read lower with a meter.

      Good qustion my friend. I do full day weddings and i mostly use HSS at full power here in the sunny caribbean. If I'm doing model shoots, no problem i can do about 3 of them before i drain the battery, weddings on the other hand are a different story, i normally get home with a few shots left but using this new battery i believe I'll see myself changing batteries before the wedding is over even if i do it just to be sure it doesn't go down in the middle of a shot.

    This is the light that B&H recommended for me, as I need an ac/dc light with a really good modeling lamp. I prefer continuous lighting, and it’s nearly impossible to find battery powered continuous.
    I am totally confused as to the lack of manual mode. Even moreso after reading the comments. I do quite a bit of moody shooting, and I have to be able to drop stops etc to get the look I want. Is this not possible with this light?
    I have a set of YN speellights which I absolutely love. I assume the Godox on camera trigger will not work with the YN lights, which is a total drag, as I will now have to purchase more Godox lights for my fills and secondary lights? I think? Am I wrong?
    Which trigger is the best for fujifilm? The man at B&H said that Godox was just coming out with a fujifilm trigger, but I don’t think that is correct. I believe there were firmware updates awhile ago that made certain Godox triggers fujifilm compatible. Yah, I’m super confused. Help me.

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It has manual, all strobes do. TTL is just an additional feature that some have, including this one.
      No it won’t work with Yongnuo, it’s designed to work within its own ecosystem. There are Godox receivers that you can put on the shoe of Yongnuo flashes but for full functionality you would want to replace your Yongnuo speedlites with Godox ones.
      The best trigger for Fuji is the new XPro-F.

      I know it seems pricey but think about the level of light this is competing with being 2x more (or 8x as much for a trigger). This system is as affordable as it gets for this much function.
      I’d suggest an AD200 or AD360 to fill but they will be a bit less powerful.
