Located on the north end of downtown Hamilton, West Harbour GO station, opened in 2018, serves two weekday Lakeshore West GO trains, extended from Aldershot (eastbound AM peak, westbound PM peak only).
Currently a stub-end station, when first opened, trains would deadhead back to Willowbrook Yard in Toronto in the evening and out to West Harbour for the morning trips.
With the recent extension of one of the West Harbour trains to Niagara Falls, and construction of a storage track a mile or so east of the station, the stub-end nature of the station means that in the morning, both trains must pass by the station on the main line, then reverse back into the platforms, before proceeding to Toronto. In the evening, the reverse occurs, with trains pulling into the station, then reversing back out to the main line, and proceeding east to the storage track or Niagara Falls, depending on which train it is.
This video shows the PM Niagara train arriving and departing, followed by the AM train coming in from the storage track, and boarding for Toronto.
