    I used to drive those dump trucks in the Super Pit and up at Wiluna too. I absolutely love the WA Goldfields. The drone shots of Kal and Leonora and Menzies in particular are epic. Those little towns in that endless outback expanse gives me goosebumps.

      Thanks heaps. Yes it's a great part of Australia. I've never driven any dump trucks but I've sat in one.

      @@RoadTrainAdventures They are straightforward to operate as long as you are the type of person who enjoys driving, can maintain concentration and is not intimidated by big machines and the mining environment. I should imagine they are considerably easier than a road train on public roads with a road ranger.

    • @RoadTrainAdventures
      @RoadTrainAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. I thought about don't it years ago but I'm not sure if I could cope with the boredom.

      @@RoadTrainAdventures It is gruelling and you have to deal with all the corporate mining company BS which can be soul destroying and stressful. I wouldn't recommend doing it long term but it is a great option for a few years if you are disciplined and take the opportunity to save a lot of money.

    • @RoadTrainAdventures

      Yes the king BS. I probably wouldn't last a week.

    In addition to deflecting insects, the front of the truck reminds me of the front of old trains. A telescopic sight! I like seeing the truck following the crosshairs on the roads!

    Great episode John. The drone footage was breathtaking. I recognised the SA/WA stop when we travelled the Nullarbor from Tasmania earlier this year. Just stunning coastline. My husband and I have considered taking that route up towards Leionora in a couple of months time and you showed us what the road and environment is like. Thank you.

    Heaps of mines at paynes find. One of the deepest went down nearly 700 foot, lots of alluvial gold. Taylor family well known....

    I used to deliver fuel to the superpit with 3 and 4 trailer combinations. Sometimes based in Leonora, I'd get up to a minesite not far out of Wiluna.

    • @RoadTrainAdventures
      @RoadTrainAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds good. I take your note doing that anymore?

    • @LyfovRyan51
      @LyfovRyan51 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @RoadTrainAdventures not anymore. Like a good Kiwi, I moved back to NZ. Mitchell's was who I worked for. The diesel was railed to Kalgoorlie and Leonora terminals and I'd operate from there.
