    That use of the word on a record title was also on “The psychedelic sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators” that came out in 1966.

    • @vinylrichie007
      @vinylrichie007  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as I know The Psychedelic Sounds Of The 13th Floor Elevators was the 2nd album with the use of the word Psychedelic.

    • @trevortheclever2738
      @trevortheclever2738 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe the verdict is out on which came out first being that no definitive release date has ever been confirmed. I've always understood that 13th Floor Elevators had them beat by a few weeks. Regardless, they both were a bit before Blues Magoos.

      @@vinylrichie007 Perhaps, but Tommy Hall was using the word in relation to their music well before the album came out, which was delayed anyway due to label issues.

Seen all these albums shown many times in the VC, most probably by you, still the only ones I have are Jefferson Airplane and Blues Magoos and then Twink is a more recent discovery. Some cool records. I might take the plunge with that album with the huge eye on the sleeve. It's in my local record shop and I've looked at it a few times but it's a bit pricey at £45 and I believe it's the 2nd pressing. The guy normally does me good deals so might haggle with him the next time I go in.
    You mentioned some albums by huge bands in the Doors, Floyd and Beatles. I don't know if you have it, but I've had added the Bee Gee's 1st album. A lot of people are reluctant to listen to it because it's them, but it's an incredible album. Also very modestly priced too. Again, because it's the Bee Gees.

    People always argue about which is best, the UK Kaleidoscope, or the US Kaleidoscope. I like both, but what are the Mexican Kaleidoscope like? I've never heard them.

    • @vinylrichie007

      All three Kaleidoscopes are great. I actually showed the Mexican one in my first 60's Psych video. I don't have the UK Kaleidoscope. It is not too common in LA.

    I love Garage .Psych It was what i discovered after my first love UK punk died in 79 What i would say about this genre there are far more great singles then albums Most bands didn't do any albums and the well known bands like the Standells Chocolate watch band etc Did some great songs but no consistently great albums Here are my fav psych /Garage albums not all are necessary from the 60's and a couple debatable depending on your interpretation
    I don’t really like Adding popular artists as psych is a creative sub genre not bread head music
    But I have to add Pink Floyd’s first album Piper at the gates of Dawn which is a psych master piece
    Their seconds not bad either
    July is an excellent album the rest In no particular order
    Non 60’s where stated
    C.A Quntett “Trip thru hell” 69 US
    Group 1850” Agmos trip to mother earth” Dutch
    The Electric Prunes “Underground”US
    Freeborne “Peak impressions US
    The Collectors The Collectors
    The Collectors “ Grass and wild strawberries “Canada
    My indole Ring “My indole Ring “ Canada
    The Shamen “ Drop “ UK 1986
    The Dukes of Stratosphere “ 25 o clock Uk 86? This is XTC under a different name
    Terry Brookes and the Strange “Translucent world “ US 1973
    Gila “ Bury my head at wounded knee “ German 1972
    The Music Machine Turn on US
    The Bonniwell Music Machine US
    Caravan “ Land of grey and pink “ Uk
    We the People “ To much Noise “ 60’s band new Lp of demo’s and singles
    It might be more interesting doing singles as there are so many

      Psych/Garage singles can be expensive and I don’t want to go down that rabbit hole. I’m happy with the many compilations that are out there. I picked up a reissue of CA Quintet a few months ago. It is great.

      @@vinylrichie007 I know there are so many great singles i would love to have but rarely come up for sale and are too expensive when they do But i managed to bag a few in the early days of Ebay at a reasonable price .I could have bought the original CA Quintett back in 2005 for £30 but slept in and missed it I have the reissue but there was a set of Psych boots i bought it originally on psycho label back in the 80's They also did some great compls called Endless Journey " It was rumoured that the Collectors finished the final Chocolate watch band album because they weren't in a fit state at the time

    With only one thumbs down, I feel guilty giving you another so I'll default to a thumbs up. Someday, I'll investigate the Ultimate Spinich. I've passed up on them a couple of times because of other finds and not enough cash. The Jefferson Airplane album had to be there ;)

    The Mothers of Invention records are better than those records he likes.

    Nobody ever shows Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush's records from 75-74 Strange Dreams and Child of novelty. Way better than some of this obscure stuff . Spinach belongs on my dinner table with hot bacon dressing on it. Not on my turn table. ha ha. spin some Mahogany Rush!
