Ive watched so many documentarys about Bird & Magic Johnson's rivalry. In fact I watched a 60 min doc just about Birds win at that 3-point competition when he didnt take his warm up jacket off! I'm a Dr J man myself. I've never heard that Buzzcocks & i'm a fan, will be buying that. Its wierd I dont think I know anyone in the UK who's into the Misfits. A bit like you with The Buzzcocks..Static Age is all I need...the VC's not leaving you behind Ritchie..it just hasnt caught up yet!

I prefer Walk Among Us over Static Age. To be my favorite Misfits album right now is 12 Hits From Hell. Dr J and Jordan were both amazing but it was Magic and Bird that put the NBA on the map.

I only have a couple of Muddy Waters LPs, saw him when he opened for Eric Clapton in '79. Muddy was great but Clapton was in his cocaine period, and put on a lousy show. Buzzcocks Singles Going Steady is great to have if you just want the "hits". I like the Misfits but never listened to Danzig or Samhain, do they have a similar sound to the Misfits? Vibrators is a great album, love their song Baby, Baby. I have the US version of Radios Appear, and it is fantastic. I see that Rank and File album in the dollar bin a lot, maybe next time I see it, I'll grab it. Good show Rich, and thanks again for linking my video.

Seeing Muddy Waters live is very cool. I saw Eric Clapton in the 80’s with Elton John. It wasn’t a bad concert but kind of uneventful. It was supposed to be Eric Clapton with George Harrison. I wanted to see George but he cancelled because of illness.

Danzig has more of a Metal sound. Samhain is a little more similar to the Misfits’ sound. But they are slower and have a murky sound.

I was so lucky that I got to see them SO SO many times!! My ex & I followed their tour to Ohio, New Jersey, New York, Chicago & Michigan (our home state). Best show ever: Ohio - Lux beat a hole in the wooden stage with the bottom of the mic stand, went under the stage, CHEWED THE WOODEN STAGE until he could get his head & shoulders thru the hole & came out like a terrifying birth!! I'm pretty sure they got banned from that club lol!! Here in Detroit, we were crushed up against the stage, there was a very sweaty guy next to us in dirty mechanics coveralls unzipped to show off frilly lingerie. He sang every word to every song& in between songs, screamed LUX over& over& over& over lol!! He kept hugging us & we were jumping up & down together & went absolutely batshit insane during THE CRUSHER!! First time I saw them was on URGH, my little sister& I had rented it & we paused their performance right at the perfect time: Lux looked like he had two heads& his eyes were completely rolled back in his head. We were scared to death but so fkn thrilled by them too!!! Instantly hooked!! Our mom took us to see them (Date With Elvis tour) I was 15? Little sister was just 7maybe lol!! We went absolutely fkn crazy & it was amazing!! My only regret is not getting to see them with my husband. He's a huge fan but somehow we never made it to a show together& then Lux died & that's that. The world isn't quite the same without him. 💔 Excellent video!! New subscriber! 🖤👻🖤

I really like that US pressing of Radio Birdman. But I too am on the lookout for an original from Australia. I believe the extra songs are on a “best of” vinyl album that came out in the last couple of years but I’d prefer not to go that route myself. The band’s second album is great too, if you’re not familiar with it. Maybe a tiny bit more immediate and commercial but it works great.

@@vinylrichie007 as I said, it’s a bit different but still really good. Good Stooges- infused rock music. Lots of references to Detroit in the lyrics (which I like). The biggest difference is that the production is a tiny bit cleaner and the songs are more immediate. I’ve got no complaints about either of those characters. Worth keeping an eye out for if you run past it. (Oh…and there is a third album too). Finally…Deniz Tek (leader of Radio Birdman) did a good live record with Ron Asheton (Stooges) and Dennis Thompson (MC5) called The First and the Last. You may already be familiar with it. It’s a blistering performance from 1981. Difficult to come by but highly recommend if you dig that proto-punk sound or whatever. It’s just a great, fun rock n roll album.

Before Magic and Bird came along, cable TV was still in its infancy. With so many channels available now, it's much easier for all the games to be broadcast live. I don't think the NBA playoffs are on major network TV (CBS, ABC, NBC - I'm not even sure who the NBA is affiliated with now) in the evenings until the finals. Maybe the semi-finals. But I totally agree with you about how those two elevated nationwide interest in the game. It all started the previous March with the NCAA finals. I used to have a Buzzcocks live album but I traded it in because the crowd made so much noise you couldn't hear the band....but I did hear Rob Walker in that crowd.

I saw Near Wild Heaven’s video after I made this. I left a link to his video in the description. Woke people need to take a nap. Letting biological men compete in women’s sports is a joke. The head of the Olympic committee sounded like an idiot when was saying it is a complicated matter. It is really quite simple. If you XY chromosomes you compete with the men. If you have XX chromosomes you compete with the women.

I really have never been a heavy drinker. When I was younger I liked smoking weed. I found out quickly that I don’t want to drink if I’m working the next day. Since Zi worked six days a week quite often I never was someone that would drink every day.

Caitlin Clark is a big Yankees fan & was at the game a few weeks ago & was pure class in interviews with TV & radio & was excited about being on the 2028 Olympic team. She wore a # 99 Jersey ( Aaron Judge ) & took pictures with him. Judge has 2 homers today & 51 on the year. He's in a groove.

I was 13 in 1970. Steppenwolf and Canned Heat were big on my playlist as well. "On The Road Again" was my introduction to the blues. I loved the epicness of Steppenwolf's Song "Monster". Saw Yellow Submarine twice the weekend it came out and listened to side one many times. Always had a love / hate relationship with the White Album becasue it was too expensive. My aunt got me the first Led Zepplin album for Christmas. Still my favortite Zep album. Finally, in the late 60's early 70's Portland Oregon has a great underground FM station KINK (still on the air today), that opened my ears to all of the artists of the day. We were so lucky to discover the world through the music of this era. Thanks Craig Danger for the refferal to Vinyl Richie.
