recommend for Elena. July and August never at sun from 12 to 5 o'clock. Radiation is so strong that you are in danger. Also if you do it you don't feel good at night. And the summer nights in Greece have a great feeling. Greek people never at beach midday.

You had me laughing about the crosswalks! I am from USA, where pedestrians always have the right of way. When my parents were coming to visit me here in Greece, I warned them that that was not a crosswalk. It was a target area! Great tips girls.

The white marks are not there for making cars stop. They are there to communicate a secret message to the pedestrian: do you feel lucky to cross the road, punk? 😁

In large Greek cities, bus stops are for many busses, so by waving you let the bus driver know that it''s his bus you want, otherwise if there are no passengers getting off, the bus will not stop.
A nice point made is the one about the traffic lights.
Even if it's green for pedestrians, you must make sure that the cars on your side stop (just in case there is a brake failure, or someone is going too fast to stop on time) and you must also be careful for cars from the other side making a right turn.
Of course pedestrians have the right of way, but it is better to be careful rather than being sorry for depending on someone else to be careful for you.
This should be the case for pedestrians and drivers alike.
In high school (ages ago) we had a joke about this: "Nice guy, but he thought he had the right of way RIP".
Taking care of backpacks is a good thing to tell to tourists.
I was on the metro once and i saw a backpack on the floor next to the doors.
I asked around to find the owner but no one knew anything about it, so I informed the train driver about the "lone suspicious" backpack left near the door.
In the next station the police came on the train and as it turned out the backpack belonged to a tourist couple that left it next to the doors as they moved to the other side of the wagon and they did not understand me asking for the backpack's owner.
Finally, I agree September and October are better months to visit Greece.
The weather is cooler, the sea is warm and because schools stat, there are somewhat fewer tourists of a higher age group that also makes them less rowdy.

Wow I've lived my whole life in Greece not knowing how many tips there are for living in Greece! 😁😁Seriously now, I'd like to give one of my own:
When you are in Greece, remember that not everyone you see around you or interact with, is a Greek.
Of course that goes for all places, but somehow a lot of ppl won't give that same credit to Greece in particular.

This year I was surprised in Kefalonia to find out that credit card was accepted to any kind of business no matter where we went, from mountain taverna to beach bar or coffee and periptero. Everywhere they accept card, it was really easy 😊

Coins/cash, paper, beer. I think that Ελένη was born Greek! Can you take me with you in Sweden or Norway in the summer time??? I always say that between June and the middle of September the best place to visit in Greece is your room holding on to an air condition unit. In Greece those white big lines on the streets are ignored. When I was in Bucharest, Romania I was just looking at those whites lines with the corner of my eye and the cars had already stopped! Here you either say your prayer and go, or you just give up, let all the cars pass and then cross the road.

Πολύ καλά tips.μπραβο. Έχω μιλήσει με τουρίστες για την ζέστη που έχει το Μεσημέρη. Μου είπαν ότι μετά από 3 η 4 μέρες στην Ελλάδα αισθάνονται άσχημα από την ζέστη. Έχω μιλήσει μόνο με Ολλανδούς τουρίστες. Δυστυχώς δεν έχω μιλήσει από Σκανδιναβία αν και το μεγαλύτερο ποσοστό στη Σάμο το νησί που μένω είναι από Σκανδιναβία. Επίσης βλέπω πολύ ωραίο το συλ σας μπράβο

In Trikala actually cars stop on Zebra crossings, they are also standalone without lights, if a person cross it, he has priority. If I remember right, in Athens they are just in front of traffic lights, so if you have green, you can walk on the zebra cross, but you dont have them without traffic lights right?

Athens and her suburbs have become unbearable during summer since at least the 1980s. The wildfires of the 1990s and 2000 in Attica have made things even worse. Lack of greenery in densely-populated areas make matters even worse because of the "heat islands" that don't allow the accumulated heat to be released during the night. On top of that, few rainfalls and even fewer snowfalls during autumn/winter.
Climate change is turning the south Mediterranean into quasi-Sahara, and Northern Europe is starting getting milder temperatures, hence the "coolcation". Who knows, we might see Motala becoming a "hot tourist destination".😆
