@@Branbreakers yep. It is as if this album has all of the bands hopes, dreams and fears manifested as on their debute album.
Their old stuff holds up extremely well by todays standards. I even forget how old some of their stuff is sometimes especially with P2 it feels like a pretty new album but that stuff came out in 2012. Honestly one of the best bands from the last decade.
they have matured so much as musicians but their old stuff is still awesome.I still get goosebumps listening to stuff like Racecar and Jetpacks was Yes.

Still one of my favorite songs to play on guitar. I remember the countless sleeplessness nights trying to get the different riffs down. Periphery changed my view on “djent”

The thing I like about Periphery is that they focus on the song, and not on musicianship, and their guitar solos are meant to serve the song instead of show off their talent.
The riffs, however, are so difficult they must be to show off. Listen to Insomnia, it has all the technicality of Animals as Leaders, even without a solo.
The difficulty is a result of their musicianship and is not self serving. Mal is completely correct it’s not about showboating it’s about making the best song they’re capable of making. I like that egos are checked at the door when they get into the booth

This whole album gets kinda slept on, compared to some of their others
The repeating process of creating and experiencing your life. It's about being fearful about where you're going and learning that that's all part of the experience too. It's about releasing, rather than losing, one's control and simply allowing yourself the freedom of existing in the moment.
Having the intro as my ringtone makes life better

I listened to Icarus lives in 2011 and I thought this band was kinda good, then in 2015 when I first listened to this song immediately became a fan but it went away a few months later. finally in 2016 my roommate in college showed me remain indoors documentary and from that moment I was totally into this band till today. their songs make me feel things especially this song, sentient glow and satellites
Sentient glow is easily my favorite periphery song. Way better than the version they did with Chris which was still ridiculously good

I never understood why this band has so many haters, I think they're awesome. The only reason they hate is because of the vocalist, too. I like both instrumental music and music with vocals, and all of their songs work perfectly with or without vocals.
