Their old stuff holds up extremely well by todays standards. I even forget how old some of their stuff is sometimes especially with P2 it feels like a pretty new album but that stuff came out in 2012. Honestly one of the best bands from the last decade.
they have matured so much as musicians but their old stuff is still awesome.I still get goosebumps listening to stuff like Racecar and Jetpacks was Yes.
Still one of my favorite songs to play on guitar. I remember the countless sleeplessness nights trying to get the different riffs down. Periphery changed my view on “djent”
Que saudades do meu cachorro Snoop. Colocava All New Materials e ele ficava quieto concentrado na música me olhando. Toda vez que escuto eu choro pensando no meu dog que partiu😭
The thing I like about Periphery is that they focus on the song, and not on musicianship, and their guitar solos are meant to serve the song instead of show off their talent.
The riffs, however, are so difficult they must be to show off. Listen to Insomnia, it has all the technicality of Animals as Leaders, even without a solo.
The difficulty is a result of their musicianship and is not self serving. Mal is completely correct it’s not about showboating it’s about making the best song they’re capable of making. I like that egos are checked at the door when they get into the booth
@@gamesgearnthrash5338 Yeah. But not in the ways other basic metal bands aim for. In their own humble way they only mean to show off skill and creativity. Not just "look at me I go vewy fast and off beat hehe".
The repeating process of creating and experiencing your life. It's about being fearful about where you're going and learning that that's all part of the experience too. It's about releasing, rather than losing, one's control and simply allowing yourself the freedom of existing in the moment.
I listened to Icarus lives in 2011 and I thought this band was kinda good, then in 2015 when I first listened to this song immediately became a fan but it went away a few months later. finally in 2016 my roommate in college showed me remain indoors documentary and from that moment I was totally into this band till today. their songs make me feel things especially this song, sentient glow and satellites
I never understood why this band has so many haters, I think they're awesome. The only reason they hate is because of the vocalist, too. I like both instrumental music and music with vocals, and all of their songs work perfectly with or without vocals.
A técnica vocal do spencer não é ruim. Longe disso. Acredito que as pessoas não gostam do vocal dele por conta da própria voz. Eu mesmo demorei pra acostumar. Hoje eu acho bastante honesto e casa bem com os instrumentais
Sithu Aye takes most of his inspiration from Periphery. Makes sense. This song was written originally in like 2007-2008, I don't even think Sithu was out of High School yet.
Spencer kills it here, I don't know what you are talking about. Anyways, there is an instrumental version available, go listen to that instead of this version.
I agree, at first, I hate the vocals(I prefer Casey Sabol back then), but when I listen to them more often, I'm getting use to it. Spencer is not bad for a vocalist. =)
the lyrics in the description are very wrong... why is this? in every periphery video there's at least one or two diversions from the actual lyrics, or missing lyrics. never the less, i'm practically in love with this music. listened to this album countless times on youtube now... i'm going to buy it very soon. it's worth buying twice imo.
I wish I could like the verses, intro is perfect though. Don't get me wrong, I love screams, but something about these screams with the guitar work (yeah I get they're a progressive metal band) ah i dont even know fml.
***** OMFG If I search that will it just pop up or do u need to link us? Im on a PEriph and Ne Obliviscariiiisssssss binge right now I cant be bothered lelelele
intro is still one of my favorite riffs. god damn beautiful
+GeneralGnosis GeneralGnosis? what's up with that name? :O
I can play the intro
@@thisisrtsthree9992 lol whats up with yours
gnosis is the name of a monuments album, a band related to periphery
IS THE INTRO OF ICHIKA MO, PINI AND OTHERS, THIS WAS THE BEGINNING
Coming here after P4, they've aged so well but this is still so amazing.
What a band.
Same here. I'd argue that this is still, hands down, their best song.
@@Branbreakers yep. It is as if this album has all of the bands hopes, dreams and fears manifested as on their debute album.

This song has changed my life in a good way and i dont know why but im a happier person now

To the P in your ear

Have you been wearing your Periphery Horse T shirt?

i think its also true that the reason they made a band not to please people but to show off their music skills isnt that right??
@@gamesgearnthrash5338 Insomnia was written as the second part to "Though". This was Misha just wanting to write something fast.
I love it that there are never discussions about what band is better on Periphery videos.
One of the best albums of the time, it still holds up to this day.
It's one of my favorite songs. Ever.
One of the best guitar Intros I have ever heard! and its been a decade since!
first song I heard from Periphery. ohh the memories :')

This whole album gets kinda slept on, compared to some of their others

This is the kind of technical yet extremely melodic music today's kids have no idea about! Just takes me away to a calm and crazy place!
This song ain't even that old
@Vennix_ yeah dude really said kids today like this songs from the 70s, chillout wannabe boomer 😂

Sentient glow is easily my favorite periphery song. Way better than the version they did with Chris which was still ridiculously good
@@ThePurestMayhem same! it's what i kept on repeat from the album cause the outro is just too good
This for me personally is the most influential song for myself
Periphery became my favorite band like 3-4 days after I found them

that song is just perfect especially on repeat

The beginning Makes for a sick ringtone!
The solo section is brief, but Misha damn sure makes every second count!
Those three dislikes were simply materials not privy to being used in such a profound way in this music of such a high caliber.
One of my Favourites
I like the chill bit better than the rest of the song. gorgeous
I get Insomnia listening to this song all night.

For all of the haters, catch one of their live shows. They are SPOT ON.
They play incredibly well live
So much fucking talent in this band! Best band out there hands down
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, I listen to it specially FOR them. Lyrics speaks in volumes also.
Still jammin with this song
After all these years I can say P1 might be not their objectively best album, but it's the best for me
the ending is fucking glorious!!!
Nostalgic✨
Fairly mathnifidjent guitar-playing, sir.
Ironically periphery was formed first and misha produced ASA's first album, writing riffs with tosin, and programmed all the drums on that record.
...I get that Animals as Leaders vibe at the beginning. idk if anyone else does tho
Nah, it's pretty not Animals As Leaders-ish. Lol
Víctor Manuel Serna - Keep in mind that Misha helped write the first AAL LP
I was thinking Sithu Aye personally
Sithu Aye takes most of his inspiration from Periphery. Makes sense. This song was written originally in like 2007-2008, I don't even think Sithu was out of High School yet.
I think it’s more like Parkway Drive

Periphery's approach to song writing: This song has to have two things. Syncopation and melodic riffs that turn straight men gay.
Still great.
