- Lyrics:
Repose
Flesh of the ground deny
Kneel and grieve
Beseeching to no avail
Myth strikes our being
Human existence
Jaded by it's progress
Feeding, a manifest of the shadow below
Redefine the absolute
Crashing down
Through their eyes
One can see
Fear sustained
Weakened by their minds
Caught in disbelief
Don't deny
All shall see
Vacant souls
Shaping commonality
In this moment we cannot deny what we are
Form a memory on turning wings
And carve a way to ascension
Pray, withdrawn you just weep
Alone
Wait for a chance to grow
Culture folds
The falling of love
The darkness above
Repose within our numbers
Walking with a taste
Transposed image of being
Lost beyond the frame, end of days
This time all memories surpass
Embrace
In time all sense of life decays
Descend
Again
All shall return to the sand through forever
We cycle again
Re-ignite
Savior ablaze
Never ending
Return to me - เพลง
Talk about pure-riffery. 🤘🏼

I don't understand why this album isn't more popular. It has incredible variety, all the parts are complex and amazing, and it's easy to tell how much love went into making it. I love every song on the album, I can't say that for anything past Periphery II. This time, it's personal!
Every Periphery album is incredible IMO

@@summeronio9751 Icarus Lives is a better song than anything ever released after Periphery I

"Buttersnips," sounds like it should be the name of a delicious candy or something.
Or a cocktail. "I'll have a buttersnips, neat, with a Sprite chaser."
a chocolate chip cookie, ñom
Spencer's melodies on this record are out of this world. He makes some really strange choices when it comes to harmonies, both against his own voice and the rest of the band. And his melodies are all over the place. I love it.
his melodies have always been special, songs that used to be just instrumentals like scarlet or sentient glow just ascended with spencer's vocals.
"strange"? just say he can't write catchy vocal melodies except It's Only Smiles.
WHY AM I JUST HEARING THIS BAND NOW
SAME but 7 years later
@@ilikeheavymuzic135 i'm sure, thank you.
what are your favourite albums
@@SpookyStorkRunningWild PII for sure.
Sassy mate
I use this butter for my popcorn.
Ok
Just snips of it tho
2:13 for some reason, it just makes me feel so good.
My favorite song produced by Periphery, and I was lucky enough to see them last April perform it.
The section in 7 near the start is incredible!! The pitch bend on the vocals at 1:06!!
as someone who plays this type of music among others, the vocals are the cherry on the cake that is periphery.
Mm yes instrumental break
dude after 10 years i have yet to hear anything that matches this album
@@musek5048 some xerath album and amemueses from monuments are the only 2 I could point to
@@musek5048early periphery is something special, despite the fact that i found out about existence of this band on periphery iv album song - reptile.
Revisited this track from the last time I
Listened to it in 2010 and wow.. the tapping selection in 2:15 is nuts.. also we need someone to make the ending loop
I like how all their songs could be band songs, or fight songs. Love this band.
This song is hard af to learn. I have up to that tapping section down but shit. Alternating between tapping and strumming like he does and staying in rhythm is going to be a challenge. Going to take some time to learn this one!
Why doesn't this have 10 million views..?
Intelligence shows in the far and few between.
'cause people fancy listening to popshit. Sad but true(
People can't understand anything that even begins to sound out of 4/4ts
@@aebious8886 people can’t even understand 4/4. Animal as leaders plays in it. I think it’s the music itself they can’t comprehend
@@blender3935 true lol. Absolomb is 4/4 and people think it's some other ts lol
i seriously think periphery one and 2 have matts most intense drumming period
This is the song that got me hooked :)
Know what i really like about this album?..every song in there is worth while and there is not a single song that feels like its filler or that its just there to pad out the length of the record.
The clean tone at the end is so fucking good. On par with images and words
The outro feels like an intro for a follow up track and I wish there was
Originally that clean part was part of a Bulb track called Juggernaut Pt 2. Misha had long conceived of a Juggernaut concept album since the beginning and that track was going to be part of the original lineup
2:16 beautiful
Guys for real, Misha was the first to use the term "Djent" and everybody hates it. Honestly if Misha wants I call what he plays Djent, that's fine. Most people dislike it because it is PROGRESSIVE. And everybody hates the new kid, especially if they are a threat. This is musicality in its best, and I thank Periphery for making real music by musicians who actually care about the stuff they play.
ey look, we got a mindreader here! lookit him reading minds!
I actually really like misha
@@progon1135 holy shit I made this comment when I was 16 years old lmao. Good to see it still makes the rounds
@@MrJakeShirley only part you were wrong is this: "This is musicality in its best". Forced dissonance all the time for the only sake of being differnet and artsy, and pushing all the guitar technics one learnt into every song form start to finsih without break is not that I would call musicality in it's best. Sometimes (most of the times) less is more.
@@Zool2107 I made this comment 8 years ago, and I stand by it in a lot of ways. I believe Misha is probably the least technical player in his band, and least technical out of his peers. He is often viewed as a song writer, a composer. His musicality is dissonant and they’ve gone on to rule an entire genre of music for over a decade now. Less can be more and I think misha conveys that by not being all technicality all the time
Lov. This song
omg i love the bridge
3:33 best part😍
Thanks, I'm familiar with Djent but this band has a bunch of different sounds, so I didn't know if they were multiple different genres.
Thanks, Again.
Best song ever
Best track on the album.
I like it
I like the places they went with IV and V, but this album is just so different, the harmonic language is much more nuanced and the songs are terrifyingly complex. You can tell years of work went into this masterpiece, I just wish they had the chance to work in a simmilar project with as much time as they needed for this and a simmilar vibe in terms of harmonic changes.
It's super weird going from their newer stuff to their first album, sounds like a completely different band almost
True. I actually don’t really like this album but everything Periphery 2 and onwards is a masterpiece
I agree, but this album definitely has some good songs on it
Cuz Misha wrote everything back then
Mark and Spencer's creative input had a huge effect on the overall sound of the band after P1
2:55
That fucking lydian bichord tho.
JESUS it sounds so fucking good
TheTurpinator I sure s hell pretty much feel that way (Imn Zyborggain btw) but it's so hard to choose between that, this and maybe like 4 others
LOL WOW I think they did a massive plummet on those two albums from the quality of the debut but it's just personal opinion here just like how your opinion changed.
The only songs on those 2 (or 3 I guess) releases that compare to Racecar for me are Froggin Bullfish and the title track of Omega.
Hell yeah bro
You got good taste \m/
+TheTurpinator totally, i used to think racecar was best too, then i realized all of them are the best... for different moods though of course
I have no idea what a lydian bichord is, but I feel like I know exactly what you're talking about here. >.>
my snips are excessively buttered now.
Why do so many Periphery songs have comical names?
because the group formed thanks to the internet and being dumb and witty at the same time is what the internet people do
A bowl of Miso soup Where is the wit in this case?
ganondorfchampin Misha probably thought it was very clever when he came up with it.
Misha literally named the songs by the first thing he was thinking of when he wrote the riff/song. The lyrics on many of these songs have nothing to do with the title because Spencer wrote them.
Chevy Chase Makes a lot of sense for Facepalm Mute.
This song is so cool😛
Thats djent my man
Insanity. I love it
2:20 when the drums kick in...
from a drummers point of view... that seems technical as fuck holy shit
djent is totally a genre their drummer is probably the best in the metal genre
That fucking solo at 2:20. Dear God. 🤘🏼
Yup very oddly placed bass drum notes and from what it sounds like ghost note central up till the end of the song.... really well done on drummers part.
I call it djent but people say its not a genre, technically it's progressive metal, I dont think thats very specific though since this and dream theater, for example, dont sound like.
Dream Theater is more Progressive Rock. But hey, I think labels are pretty limiting.
lol rather call it djent then post-progressive metalcore...
I never got why people say “Oh Djent isn’t a genre, it’s just an onomatopoeia” but they are ok with Hair and Glam Metal being a thing, which has nothing to do with the music, and only the way the musicians dress.
Yeah but KSE and Alexandria are apparently the same genre so
lmao i know right..
like the ghost notes and accents and bass hits and the hi hat pedal and the cymbal hits... and then that ride on bell part at.2:39 is just to much for my brain lmao
@Mithologian @freakinsweet830
After seeing Spencer's vocals in 2012 I guess I judged him too quickly. He sounds like a beast now, as his growls are a lot deeper and his clean vocals are absolutely beautiful! ^_^
This and Icarus Lives made it to Rock Band. ;_; I know I'm late, but I just got the games and I was so happy.
the drums.... too beast
Is there anyway to get this Album on Vinyl?
this song is soooooooo amazing the fucking guitar work is superbbbbbbb 0.0
What the hell is a buttersnip?
a snip made of butter
Harry Mitsis I have also heard Butter’s nips which kinda makes sense (in a gross way).
First ten seconds 🔥
Djent isn’t a thing. This is Blackened and Buttered post-progressive Viking aliencore.
I can't stop playing this on guitar, it's like a hand massage
@ramalondo didnt u comment that on another periphery vid too lol?
I think both. :O
wait, there's instrumentals?
I need to get a hold of this album besides youtube

I got the slipcase version, love it to death :)
@@EEeE3771 i still buy 100%. Gotta pay the artist
Have another version of this Misha(Bulb) did before Periphery that is better in my opinion. Used to have a lot of them on his music page back during Myspace. I have most if not all of those versions they later redid downloaded.
HOOOOLLY I just mis-read the last part of your comment and was about to rage beyond all reason!
Didn't see the "from" ... heh.
How can anyone complain about the vocals? Spencer's incredible. Denying his talent is simply ignorance.
well how long have you been playin? i been playin for like 2 years... lol
Progressive Metal.
I tried learning it. Key word being "tried", It's absolutely nuts.
RB3? or RB2 network?
The title makes is sound like it should be some sort of tasty snack.
yeah but ive got the first part mastered... like the first 30 seconds.. so im making progress :P and thanks !
Aliencore, UFOcore... Just love it !!!
Jared Dines
people are labeling it that way, because apprentely that matters. They dont realize that it is an onomatopoeia

What kinda meshuggah is this? Why is nick carter singin in between?
HELLL YEAH i tried learning dat shit... tooooooo stretchy

Any idea what genre this would be classified as? o:
Im sort of new to Periphery, so yeah.
Pure-riffery. That's about it.

Oh Shit fuck. I haven't hopped on RB in a minute, I'm missin out haha.
bulb! :')
4:38 holy shit
@iEADGBE Oh lol I take back my words now.. that was 8 months ago. Have you seen Periphery live in 2012? Spencer's voice is fkin awesome now. This old studio version sucks compared to Spencer's vocals in his 2012 performances!!!
I don't mind Spencer's vocals at all now, since his growls have gotten a lot more deeper and his voice is more refined!! I take back my words :)
Is this even Spencer....? I can't really tell.
He sounds quite raspy, I am not hating, just an observation. But I still love him.
2:22
damn right no dislike
Who cares what race he is? Best guitarist!
Nobody has ever cared about how brown and jewish misha is in fact we love him for it.
2019. everytime I go back and listen to this I ask myself what the fuck happened to music and why is this still underground
they aren't even underground wtf are you talking about
@vdjn55 clearly you don't understand why Periphery made instrumentals...
fuck yeah
5:23 Juggies Part 2!
djent blahblahblah genre blahblahblah something something
I happen to like his vocals? o____o.
Nah man, look again. It's really easy, I just learned it in an hour.
I was joking by the way XD About the whole "spot-on" stuff. A jest.
people call it djent although it was a chord at first.. lol so i guess just call it djent
Djent.

Why does Periphery have so many funny names?! They're clearly musical stand up comedians... Read between the lines bro... Or just laugh and love...
rolonon ala verga.
The one periphery song that sounds better instrumental....can’t find that version anywhere 😔
Even as a fan of a band, people should still respect an opinion. I love this band, but if people choose to dislike it, that's them. Music is 100% opinionated.
