    Well that was a labor of love. Yes labor. So the next time you buy the tamales from your local merchant or vendor, do not, I repeat, do not complain about the cost. That’s a big investment in time for something so delicious. And worth it.

    Someone is making Oaxaca Tamales for me this New Year but I don't think they will be mole.

    I’m used to measuring in kilos, and liters .🤗
    for me is easier that way. I love the taste that the banana leaf gives to the tamales. I’ll this recipe for New Year’s Eve 🤗 Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe 🥰 brings back memories from my mother 🙏

    Mama thanks for sharing your tamale recipe . They look so delicious . Your sauce is so smooth. And the right consistency . I've never made tamales. But I've helped put the masa on the corn shucks . It takes hours to make tamales . But worth the wait they're delicious . Enjoy your tamales you and family .

    I had no idea how much work goes into making tamales! I know I like to eat them...that's for certain. I will appreciate my local vendor much more from here on out and tip them for the time and effort appropriately.

    I have made tamales with banana leafs, it gives the tamale a delicious taste.
    But it's not a product I can find in my area, but corn husks are always available.
    I'm not a fan of mole, I have tried mole but it's not for me. I love to see various ways to make tamales so Thank you Mama!

    My father is from Veracruz, I have been looking for a recipe like this for a long time! I have tried cooking them before but failed! My husband is from Michoacán and your masa reminds me of my sister in law’s recipe! I will definitely try your recipe and I also make my own mole. I enjoy your recipes so much because they have flavor! May God Bless you this upcoming year with crock pot recipes because I will need them! 😁

      My mom used to make some of the tamales with whole bone in chicken with green sauce. They were my favorites.

    I LOVEMole sauce. If a restaurant has mole I ask for a taste of the sauce before I order. Some are hits and some are misses.

    Tamales are definitely a labour of love. I usually make my meat and sauce the day before. I do chicken, beef and pork. The second day I usually make masa and fill then cook well into the night since it's just me.

    I made a sauce from a Rick Bayless book and he toasted the chilis in a pan on stovetop, added liquid and removed the skins. It was delicious but very tedious. I’m going to try your take on putting in oven and not removing skins.

    These are my favorite! But my local grocery store sometimes sell expired produce. Can you please have a video of what a healthy versus a banana leaf that's turning bad? I've never worked with them before. Thank you.

      Typically smell is a good indicator if something is turning bad. I have frozen banana leaves readily available in my grocery store and fortunately have not had issues with those. 🙂

    Filipino tamales are very similar to this type. Different flavors, same execution and concept.

      I usually cook, cool, then freeze. I have not tried freezing before cooking, but it could work. 😊

      You definitely can use cornhusks, just spread the masa, fill with chicken & sauce, then roll them up. 😊

    Lot of work. But I’m sure it’s delicious. Also you should have a stick thing your vita mix came with.. my Vitamix came with a stick to crush things down and help out along .
