Dude, you eff'ing RIP! It's so nice to finally watch a vid claiming to be metal, or a review of a "metal" amp and find this gem that does NOT disappoint! You're a cool dude with massive riffs and an absolute commitment to doing it right. Thanks for the review. 🤘
Amazing brutal tone and playing sir. I want the same tone on my mini rec. so how much should I push the master volume on modern channel 25 watt ? And should I connect any overdrive pedal or boss ml-2 on front with the two notes torpedo captor or captor X without a cabinet straight into Mooer radar into Logic Pro X ?
Excellent video! I just got the Captor X /SE. New to the IR game. Plugged in my Bogners and Marshall’s.. had a little hard time gettin the bottom end and non-fizz sound, going into my Protools. Two Notes customer support is the worst. I need to mess with this more. You give me some hope, that I’ll get a good tone to front of house mixers. Cheers✊🏽
Hey, brother. It does definitely have a learning curve. I've had mine for a few months now, and am just starting to get used to it. So far, for me, I've found that cranking the master volume of the amp (it can handle 100w @ 8ohm) helps with dialing in the tone. You can technically dime the master when running into this thing. That said I'm usually at about 2pm on the master volume knob. Next, since I run Gtr > lightlaerm gehenna > kma pylon > amp: I'd dial back the gain/boost quite a bit (i turn boost off on the kma) on everything including the amp, leaving amp gain prolly around 9am on the knob. I then slowly add back gain on the pedals until everything "fills in" properly. Then, I messed with the EQ on the amp, further fine tuned on the gehenna. I struggled with that fizzly grainy high-end, and faint bottom end you speak of, and it turned me off bad. This is what helped me. Don't be scared to crank the bass knob on your amp to get some of that added back. Also, get the App (Torpedo Remote) they have available and learn to add IRs and how to mess with them. Imo, the stock IRs are not that great for a metal tone. I use a combination of Ownhammer 'Heavy Hitters', Kristian Kohle 'Rainbows and Chainsaws', and my own IRs I made of my custom cab. When you load the IRs, load the Mono, 48kHz, 200ms versions. Please don't give up on this piece of gear. It really is worth the good money you spent on it. It's fantastic. It just has quite bit of a learning curve to it. :) I hope this helps!! If you have any other questions do not hesitate to message me, and I will try my best to help you. PS: Also, look into the STL Tones Ignite Libra. It lets you load, and blend up to 8 IRs, and then mix them down into a single IR file. I'll also look for a video I watched that helped explain some of the stuff for the Captor X.
Hey man just get a 6505+, got torpedo captor 8. How much can I push the post gain knob into the torpedo ? the maximum power dissipated by torpedo is 100 W, the amp is 120W, I don't want to burn the amp or the captor 😅😅
That sounded KILLER. Finally another great demo of this in a metal context. Am I correct in understanding that we can load our own impulses into this unit as well?
Thanks! You can’t load impulses into the unit but you can use whatever impulse you want with and impulse loader. I’m using my neural DSP plugin with everything off except for the cab. And I’m blending two impulse responses I downloaded.
What do you have your gain at on the input of your scarlett and the output on the back of the torpedo? I can't seem to get a good tone from mine, I'm doing an MT-15 into the Petrucci Neural DSP cab (similar to how I think you are) but it always sounds like its underwater, almost as if the presence knob on an amp was set very low. Yours sounds killer
hey man, killer tone. I can’t decide between this and the 6505+. How would they compare in your opinion? I love the low mid bark of the 34 but the chords seem to just jump out of the 05.
There’s a little bit of a high end thing that I don’t love about the 6505. I mean it sounds good but I kinda like the dryness of the 6534. With my Earthquaker Plumes the 6634 is about perfect. Tight low end and the plumes gives it a little something in the high end that isn’t too much for me.
Wall of sound is cool , but it seemed to eat up my processor a bit .. it has everything built into it so i guess its cool in that way (eq , compression etc.)

Yeah I’ve tried some IR’s that I didn’t not like at all! But when I find one or two I like I stick with them!

Nice!! Sounds damn good in the mix too!!
Thanks! Really easy to use and sounds great!
So the Captor feels more real than Amp Sim+IR? Because it sounds kind of and i personaly preffer real amps over this zizzly VSTs.
Yes I think so!
@@DanGatesMetal well... So i guess i have to try it out! Ty ;)

I don’t know! I don’t think I’ve gone past 3 or 4 on my 6534+ or my 5150.
That's some killer fucking riffs! 🤘
Thanks!

The input on the scarlet is very low! I turn it up til it clips then back it off. The output of the torpedo is around 1:00.
Lol... these specs. It’s like you made this for me! 😘
Sick vid.
😂 Thanks!

Oh really? Not sure if I wanna go down that rabbit hole!😂
I dont use mine that much.. i have ignite amps libra , it makes it so you can try six ir's at a time and figure what combination you like.
Get a cab m to use with your captor and then you won't have to use wall of sound
@@TheDistortionPrinciple Yeah I’ve seen those. Definitely good for a live situation if someone uses it that way!
Nice! How is the latency?
@@philipkavanagh8981 I don’t have any problem with latency!
@@DanGatesMetal that’s just what I wanted to hear! I think I’ll pick one up tomorrow. Great videos man
Did u use an IR?
Would u use the captor also at gig?
I blended two IR’s. I doubt that I would ever use this to play live.
