Awww, little flying fuzzy friends! Bats are nice to have around, they eat lots of insects.
Yes they do
that is really nice of you to supply mosquitoes for your bats to feed on, sort of like supplying worms for the mice, you must be a green peace sort of guy! lol
It looks like a wartime bunker that we have here in the states. Very cool to have that on the property. Good to let those little guys hibernate as well. Look forward to that video series!
Thanks for the tour, nice there is a food supply for the bats. I used to be afraid of bats until I learned all about them, they are definitely beneficial creatures to have around!
Yes they are! Iv seen them fly around the property during summertime nights. Mostly around the stream. Must be hunting for mosquitoes.
Very interesting to see in the root cellar and hear about your plans. In Canada we actually build bat houses and place in the trees around our lake property. Each house will hold 50 to 75 bats, and each bat consumes a stupid number of mosquitoes and other bugs on a daily basis as we sleep.
That will be a cool place when it is done.
In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort.
😅 nice one
Thanks for showing us the Hobbit hole, I've been wondering for quite a while now!
I would think the cabin would make a better banquet hall than a claustrophobic cellar. But you could always prove me wrong. "So, I guess that sucks." Another winning statement from the man himself!
Good project! I can't wait for you to start restoring that underground warehouse.
You and me both!
Thanks for the tour! We were really curious about that. I assumed it was a root cellar. YOU would think the bats would eat the mosquitoes! I love your vision for it. That will be an interesting renovation for sure.
When I see Tolkien fan fellow, I always like :)
Cant wait for amazon series about the rings of power.
Excellent tour... I always wanted a root cellar on our property but if I built one, I guess I would have to start gardening again! Thanks for the video, very cool structure. Jason
"I stick to one big project at a time." the polar opposite of diesel creek. I much more like your approach :)
If i take too many projects on then the some of them will be left unfinished 🤔
THAT. IS. COOL.
I wondered how large that cellar was. Excellent food storage capacity. I don't blame you for not wanting to take on 2 projects at once. That rock wall you built around the front of the cellar really impressed me. You do great work. Having the proper tools of course helps.I sure enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work. Take care.
Hey Eric. Thanks a lot for the kind words. Take care!
Good ideas brother, pretty cool root cellar Andris! Yeah, you definitely need to get that wall repaired! Before the water gets in! Bats are great for mosquitoes, that’s their food! lol 😂
Sleeping next to a pile of mosquitoes 😂
@@Ants_Pants yeah but at least they’re in one spot, if you want to get rid of both! Just put one of those insect bombs in there, probably run the bats off myself friend and you won’t have to do much ! Pop it and close the door for a few days! Problem solved! lol 😂🤷🏼 Nice Root Cellar
😂 i like that bats are there most likely i will make sure they can get in and out nicely even after the reno project!
@@Ants_Pants that’s cool, I’ve been wanting to build a bat house, my friend has one and he ordered some bat crap somewhere and we sat and watched one late evening! We stopped counting bat around 250 and they were still dropping out to go feed, it was crazy! lol 😂 He researched, about them on the internet! Hey, good luck my friend! Please keep me updated on your bat adventures! Maybe a video one late summer evening, I bet they’re entrance is that pipe! Thanks for chatting Andris my friend! Stay safe and healthy brother!🙋🏼♂️
Great video Andris that looks like a cool project. If it was me I'd turn it into a bar and call it the batcave. There's a bar in my local town called the batcave, its pretty cool! 👍🍻
😂😂 good idea
In my city in western NY there is several breweries that where founded in the mid 1800’s. During prohibition they became “medical spirits distilleries” or some such BS.
One building as of 20 yrs ago was a steel works I stopped in to apply, some one that used to work there told me after that the big riveted steel doors on the floor when you walk in has an abandoned speak easy down a set of stairs. Place is abandoned now mite have to go explore it before it gets torn down. Little off topic but thought it mite fit here.
That root cellar is awesome...I want one!
😄 thanks! Im looking forward to this project
That is soooo cool!!!!!!! I’m glad u made a video of it!! I want to build myself one one day if I ever get well enough! I bet the bats are getting in through that pipe. So cool my friend really enjoyed it!
Thanks Darrel. I understand the pipe is sealed shut. But these guys still get in somehow. I think through the crack in the door.
As you explore Root Cellars you will find yours to be quite fascinating.
That's a great room for many projects. I am looking forward seeing what you build. The mosquitos were fasinating to see. Who would have thought they would still be alive in a place where their natural preditor (bats) was sleeping.
Lazy bats lol bellys full fast asleep.
That looks like it’s going to be a right interesting project.
Hey ants, just catching up! I can't believe how dry the inside of that building is! Lots of wildlife though 🤣
Thanks dave for checking out the video. Yes i agree totally
This will be a great project for the future Ants, look forward to it. 🌿🌿🌿
Me too👍 cant wait
This is a way cool place!!!
Too cool 😌
Its going to be a nice project, really like that you've got bats and so envious, they are an amazing animal. 👍
Fingers crossed!
Must be a hole for the bats to get in and out!
Root cellar is the best place to store apples or potatoes and other vegetables so keep it for that use! Why not use it also as a wine cellar? But save the place for the bats even if you fix the cracks. You can make new hiding places for them with a board that is placed with space against the concrete wall. Just cover the wall e.g with chicken net so they have something to hang to. I'm sure they use this cellar as rest place in summertime also. Some bat species are protected so you are lucky to have these mosquito killers around. Edu sulle!
Ja ma suvel olen näinud neid pimedas. Nad tiirutavad oja lähedal pidevalt ja talvituvad keldris.
Hi Mr Pants. I just saw this video in my TH-cam feed and went... frikken awesome man. Getting in early on the weekend entertainment. Yeah, I'm not that lucky. Just saw this one was two years old and I already watched it. What the hell, man. I'm gunna watch it again 😂 Cheers 🇦🇺
Lol 😂
The Hobbit House might be an old fallout shelter.
Maybe cant rule it out.
Really cool! Great video as always! Thank you for sharing!
That's a great place for an Estonian death metal band to practice 🤣
Ozzy ozzborne eats bats ! ;)
Lol😂
It looks like a WWII shelter or perhaps (I doubt) ammunition store. Roof highly probably is reinforced with iron or steel rebars. Pipe can be a fumes exhaust of a diesel generator. It would be interesting to know if in your area there were battles or static fronts during WWII. In any case a war relic. Interesting.
Your most likely right. There was another one like this, but that was collapsed and eventually demolished.
@@Ants_Pants For precaution, if there was battles in your area, it is not a bad idea to have at hand a metal detector and check your property. Old military crap it is a danger. Good luck and btw, my congratulations for your very hard work and astonishing skills. Good luck and my best regards.
Hi, i have seen most of your videos, and you are a great working man. The celler, i think the same as some other people, it coud be a cind of shelter/ bunker from the last big war. The steel pipe in the roof, looks like it have been a ventilation system. You also find som steel tracks ( tanks tracks ? ) outside your house …..Looking forward to se the renowating of this «hobbit hole»
MM77 Approved 👍🏼👍🏼
So now I know that's an old cellar type of room. Damn! I get freaked out wen i see bats n rats even from a distance n i won't be able to sleep well for days, it's phobia i just can't stand them they are the creepiest n scariest creatures for me
Sorry to hear about your phobia. Bats are super useful and important animals though. Rats and mice are even not worth mentioning. Thanks for watching!
Psalm 25:4-5
King James Version
4 Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths.
5 Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.
Noice, the video I've been hoping for! I guess I didn't need to ask any questions about the root cellar after all. 🤣
😅
I have been wanting to see inside the root cellar but never mentioned it. It is very unique and much bigger than the ones I have seen. I look forward to seeing you start this restoration. Do you know what the pipe was used for? I like your vision of a grass roof and maybe you could consider a few flower seeds.
Pipe was for ventilation as far as i know. But it was sealed along time ago.
The Hobbit House is the reason we have footings. kek
That thing is freakin' awesome.
Can you elaborate on the footings part? Thanks!
@@Ants_Pants - Since it didn't have a footing, it sunk in the ground. kek
@@droidian lol
Nice........dont make concrete floor because you gone have water .
Hey! What do u mean? it already has a concrete floor, there's just a lot of dirt covering it up.
can't wait!
Hea plaan, polegi ise aknaga keldrit kusagil näinud enne :)
Võibolla pandi põhjusega kinni? Ei tea
3:52 SOVIET CHAIR COLLECTION?! 😳
Secret invasion.
Ants, if you re-ferb the root cellar you are going to make the bats homeless, in the UK these bats are protected 👍
Same here
Selam Ants Pants.

Damperli remorkunu merak ediyorum.Hangi aşamada? Andrew Camarata seni izliyorsa mutlu olacak inanıyorum.

Thanks for sharing. Yes it will be a great project and I like your ideal. Are you sure it was not used as a bomb shelter too?
Im not sure about that. It's possible.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️
so you could be Gandalf visiting Bilbo..
i'm more like Gimly visiting bilbo 🤣
The rootseller is proboly from early 2. ww the wore against the Russian, and made as a seifityroom. :)
Most likely. They complain that we are russophobics (means we hate russia) but throughout historry they have given us so many reasons to hate them. What's going on in ukraine has been actually going on over 100 years and its always the sovient/russia as an agressor/bully who strikes smaller countrys
👍
Bats eating the mosquitoes cool
08:35 It's kind cute, sleeping like that. Belly full of mosquitoes 🤣 Nice place, thanks for the tour!
Serious question, how do you get rid of asbestos? I have a shed about that size, damaged after the earthquake. Did you have any problems when you removed the old plates from another builing? I have to pay for disposal 0.5Eur per kg and transport 1Eur per kg. So I plan to save money I don't have haha with diy demolition.
I havent disposed them yet. Iv placed them all on a pallet. I still have 2 buildings that have this roofing material on it. Here in estonia sometimes the local gov offers deals to give away asbestos roofing for free. But i have a atleast 10 tons of that stuff. In the end i have to get rid of them. But i will wait untill i get all of it off the roofs. As for demolition then most didnt break about maybe 5% only broke. The problem is the nails as they have rusted so hardly into place.
@@Ants_Pants Thanks fot the info!
I guess what I would do if you're going to make it a food storage place especially for winter months storing food I would probably raise it off the ground on some wood but in between the wood that it's sitting on I would have big bowls upside down in between the leg so mice can't run up the legs and get into the food storage and I wouldn't have steps or nothing going into it I would just have it where you got to climb up foot and a half or so to get into it. Some people have it higher off the ground and just throw a ladder up to just to make sure mice and other animals can't get into it
Yeah mice party there most of the time. Maybe i can make it miceproof after renovation. But those damn mice can fit thru almost every little crack
@@Ants_Pants this idea of a storage place for your food I'm going off of is a tribe of people that live in areas that it's often 60 below or colder and they store their food storage buildings high off the ground higher than the snow levels with upside down bowls underneath on the top of the legs right underneath the floors so the mice when they run up the legs they can't get to the building itself and they can't jump off the snow onto the building itself either. I just know mice can fit through a quarter inch gap or I guess 6 mm if we're going metric and they can really wreck your food supply real fast especially when it's warmer in there. I hope this idea helps you in the long run getting good tips and advice is what makes people's lives better.
Have you checked out the video series done by Mr. Chickadee on the hobbit hole he built? There are some good ideas you can get from it. Here's the first video:

Thanks!
@@Ants_Pants i thought I had commented on your 10k viewer video suggesting that channel and a couple others but I may have closed the browser without saving it because I couldn't find it again. You may really like his content.
In case I screwed up and it was indeed lost you should also check out Salvage Workshop and Mustie1. I also suggested Marty T but I saw several others did too so I know you got that recommendation.
🥔🥔👍
Where are the hobbits?
Hope Sauron not kidnapped them.😅
lol
you sure you dont have jimmy hoffa in there?
He was but i kicked him out last week 😁
I'm sorry, but I think those were termites. Or some variety.
And yikes! Bats and I don't agree.
Hey Monika! There's no termites near or around the property! Actually there's no active species of termites in Estonia overall.
@@Ants_Pants that's incredible. I'm glad I am wrong.
your cousin was growing weed lol ndai
lol for real? i have always wondered why the box was built in the cellar 🤔 i need to ask him about this 😁
100% 🤣
Cellar bats 🥹
An exquisite Crack-house!
Lol
Please cover your face when you decide to clean up after them.
yeah
Bomb shelter that’s what it is!
i don't think this shelter can even hold its own against a hand grenade :D
@@Ants_Pants LoL 😂 You are so funny.😂😂😂😂😂
