    For future reference you can use a drill to make a hole by drilling little holes with a small drill bit in the circle and then cutting out the small parts in between.

    Hey guys, you should run the exhaust to one side of the vehicle and the intake to the other side of the vehicle. Assuming that may be a little safer then having them right next to each other. Thanks for the videos and good luck.

    cutting metal holes is never easy... especially with awkward surfaces. very resourceful of you guys to use saw blades. also those heater testicles! haha.. great video yuka!

  • @wingnutbert9685

    As a metal worker I laugh with you and at you! :) A valiant effort with success at the end. Making due with tools at hand will be a reoccurring theme when living the van life. Nicely done. That big hole saw was probably more expensive then your drill. Ha ha. Since you have 110v in the van, a corded drill would be good. Likely was your under powered drill, not the hole saw. Plus they tend to catch when drilling metal with cut out gaps. In the future, for big holes, drilling a bunch of little holes, close together, inside the perimeter of your circle O.D. is more efficient. Cut the bits in between with wire cutters and file smooth to your required O.D.. Also, this is where a Dremel tool and kit can be a life saver. All part of the fun. Well done gettin' er done!!!

    I suggest you put a Nest Protect - battery powered - CO and Smoke detector in your van. CO is dangerous and this alarm could be life saving.

    Commenting as I watch; Those "testicle" holes, (ROTFL!!!) you really(!!!!!) want to get rubber grommet's for them. Try online or an auto parts store. They go by hole size and metal thickness.Those metal edges, even if filed smooth, will wear through those "testicles". Lots of vibration with the van traveling will kill those hoses and you don't want exhaust leaking into the van! When you get the grommet's, get extra's as part of ur spare parts bin and inspect after a couple months driving. That'll give you a guesstimate as to how often you need to change them out and becomes just part of your routine maintenance, like oil changes.
    **EDIT** @ 13:25, where those wires go in through the metal case. Those are grommets. Just need bigger ones. Also, sorry if you know this stuff already. Don't mean to be a know it all or safety police. I just hate to not say anything when I see something either dangerous or when it seems like people don't know and could be expensive. :)

    Awesome teamwork. What I don’t understand is why you had to cut such big holes in the floor? Those long testenticles😂 didn’t look that wide. Very entertaining.😃

    • @VanGirlYuka
      @VanGirlYuka  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      We cut 2 holes about 1.5 inch on the floor for those testenticles so they aren't that big. but after we put them in there are some spaces so we could've use smaller hole saw too. And the hole on the seat base for inside exhaust was like 4-5 inch. The plastic piece for exhaust wasn't as big as the hole but as we cut the hole it got bigger...

    I am wondering why a Mr. Buddy type heater was not chosen? (No hole cutting) It’s just a lot easier then such a laborious installation. I am new at all this van build and have watched only two now (out of hundreds) with this more intensive type of system. Maybe I am missing something?

    • @VanGirlYuka
      @VanGirlYuka  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good thing of our heater is that all exhaust is going outside of the van. so in the cold weather you could keep the heater on while you are sleeping without opening the windows. and also exhaust contains water so if exhaust goes inside the van, it might get moldy. You don't want that!
