- I watched them very closely. Was hoping they would like the cool water on a very hot day. Rabbits, birds and chipmunks all ate around the balloons without popping one. Until this squirrel came by and sank it's claws into two balloons.

I live in the desert and poured a bag of ice outside and a ground squirrels went nuts. It was kind of timid at first then picked up the ice and started licking it. It grabbed a bunch and ran off to lick it by a bush. It either finished it or it melted because it came back and grabbed as many cubes as it could in all of it's feet. It looked so happy.

Squirrels always look like they're currently dealing with PTSD induced flashbacks. All of them. Every time they sit relatively still. Just staring off like they're remembering all the squirrels lost last winter.

I love these little guys. I so wish squirrels could be pets. Absolutally adorable little creatures in my oppinion.
I had one when I was a kid. I rescued him and took him home. I was seven years old and we only had him for two weeks, but he was so memorable that I still remember him after twenty years. When he died I cried my eyes out, but my parents and even my cat Miles loved him. Chip was an interesting little guy. I want to rescue other squirrels because of him.

It really shows the personalities of the different animals. The rabbit sniffs hesitantly and then backs off, the chipmunk darts in and out carefully, the squirrel goes for things head on and keeps coming back even when something scares it.

They will not let you forget it. I dumped a huge washtub of water only to see afterwards it had been filled with tadpoles. A couple of days later I was sitting on my front porch reading when I saw movement out of the corner of my eyes. There were at least eight toads that hopped on my porch and sat there staring at me... for about 10 minutes. Then they each turned around and hopped away, never to be seen again. I felt beleaguered for days after that! I know people won't believe this, but it's true nonetheless.
I've had squirrels drop acorns, rocks, tomatoes on my head from a tree while on my deck. You are basically asking for it man.

They sometimes fall from the highest branches of my pecan tree. They bounce, lay still for a couple seconds then jump up and scamper right back up the tree. Once had a ball composed of two squabbling squirrels land three feet from me. They never for a second stopped wrestling. Tough little cuties!

The first three clips are a chipmunk. Notice the stripes on the body and the tail. It's also smaller. Edit: The fourth clip and beyond is a squirrel. Definitely bigger, bushy tail and no markings like the chipper.
