- Apex Legends is celebrating its 5th year anniversary and season 20 is bringing about a complete overhaul to the classic battle royale mode. Not only is Apex Legends getting a new performance 120fps mode for consoles, but also a new shield system, and a new leveling system in matches, and more. Here’s what you need to know about Apex Legends Breakout.

Whether you love or hate these new changes, you can't deny this greatly helps the game stand out amongst the other battle royale games that are beginning to feel repetitive. You at the very least gotta respect the devs for taking such a huge risk by changing up the mechanics this much to give it some new variety
Are those change made to the base/main game ? Or are we talking about a brandnew mode that people will have the luxary of choose to play or not ?

The shield not being on the ground and working to get your stronger shield is the smartest thing ever. Makes you have to play and not just loot for a better shield.
It makes it so hard to fight with a grey evo

LMFAO. all you need to do is segregate PC from console, within PC segregate controller from kbm. Remove arbitrary timegate on cosmetics, have all skins unlockable via ingame challenges, massively reduce price of melee weapon skins down from $160+ to $20, 60hz servers as a minimum, and remove storm point from the game OR double the squads on map from 20 to 40

Early games are gonna feel a lot more balanced, it seems.
Hopefully, the perk system doesn't produce absolutely broken legends right off the bat.
Perks will surely be buggy and unbalanced for the starting few weeks before they roll out new fixes

always admired the fact that respawn is putting in effort to make their game unique and not afraid to change their game up

@Khalillly maybe on the xbox one x but not on the ps5, the ps5 has more than enough power to handle 120fps 4k.
Now it will be a dynamic 4k, I'm betting mainly a balance between 1440p to 4k. but when you consider the max right now is 1440p with less visual enchantments, I'd say this update will be a HUGE change!

From a developer perspective it definitely feels like a leveling out the competition kind of update. It’s a bad change to feeling fun op vibe when you get that armor off an enemy. But now battles will feel longer as both party’s at the start of the game will have better odds of reacting fast enough. You still can be melted in less than a second as before. One less piece of gear to focus on, putting a push to more aggressive play through a if you want more defense.

i'm glad they're making the stockpile loot strategy viable, it is kinda weird how a loot heavy game didn't have more ways to increase your power.

Servers are Ea's, (Not Respawn's) so unless Apex starts making them more money, they Won't upgrade their servers.
So even if Respawn really wishes to upgrade the servers, it's not on their hands to decide. Sadly

Kudos to respawn for bringing uniqueness to APEX by changing the core mechanics of the game from time to time. Unlike Activision, who essentially release the same idea of battle royale, that is warzone in new names but nothing unique to look forward to. This is what epic and respawn did great. Fortnite and APEX has evolved so much and still players play it,,shows that gamers don't need the same game with different titles every year

This took "fun" out of apex. We thought it was sweaty before now all players have to be sweaty instead of running around playing in their own pace. Maybe push maybe not. This update makes you have to push just so you don't lag far behind in level.

It incentivise players to be more proactive and engage in fights. You still have to make decisions to retreat or hide from a fight, but the rewards for risking a fight is now better.
So imbalance was fun? Is shooting in a shooting game sweaty for you?
Or you can get Evo harvesters and open support/ assault bins or scan rings to get levels…

That's the complete opposite of what will happen. Apex is already a looter and this system will make it a shooter. Just play Bloodstrike to see how this Armor system works.
