Hey. New subscriber here. Have really enjoyed the channel. Also a longtime Latin student. Do not be offended by the term orient. This is the old ori and occi terminology resurfacing. In the context of our ancient world games it makes perfect sense even. It is the term given to the eastern world beyond what was Rome initially and it's terminology is rooted in the Roman world viewpoint (that which doesn't contain the Americas). It is also synonymous with sunrise and man or "thing" of the sunrise. That's where and what oriental means. The antonym here is Occident which literally means all the opposite and is of the west, a man or thing of the west and men of sunset. The only reason that didn't catch on like ori in common parlance did is because, historically; the world has never had people speaking Latin coming out of "the east". Ancient Roman maps are our best tour of this. I think there's a certain flowery poetry in that vernacular actually. jm2c. Continue the good work and lovely models.
@marantzdantz9685 thanks for that historical context, really adds another layer to these amazing minis. Like I said to other comments, really appreciate all the Lil snippets of knowledge I'm learning from all of you guys! And glad you're enjoying the content. Really motivated to continue sharing all these crazy Lil projects I have lined up 🙂
Great collection and such wonderful colours on all of them. I like the adolfs (based on central European soldier, hence the name) bunch as next project. However take your pick all are worthwhile. Off to check my terror of the lichmaster.... i was thinking skaven from the follow up in the citadel journal. Have a good new year!
@Lee-o7u4t thanks! And appreciate the quick historical fact, really adds so much more to these amazing classic citadel minis. And I'm beyond excited to start working on the secret army from the terror of the lichmaster 😁
Wargames Foundry still produce the old Citadel Nippon miniatures - including a set of the Ninjas and the 1984 Samurai - significantly cheaper & easier to obtain than buying on ebay. They also have the a range of the old Citadel F series Dogs of War / Militia / Fighters for sale
@narwhalcheese yep but they are missing quite a bit of both ranges. And luckily i already own all the sculpts they are currently selling. But for sure anyone else who wants to start collecting the range wargames foundry is great.
Let him cook!!! 🔥🔥 Keep those old pewter wood elves tree models on deck. If they end up doing a tree based army in the journal you could have some fun with that
Awesome job, loving the vivid colours and your NMM game is becoming next level! I am bouncing the idea of starting an 'Araby-plays-as-Dark-Elves' army for Old World using Kyoushuneko's Araby range -- armoured camels proxing as Cold Ones, flying carpets as harpies, dervishes with scimitars as witch elves and the like.
@sbart23 haha thanks. Just really enjoying these old classics from citadel. Wish I would spend more time but must finish painting too many projects 😅. And likewise! I'm still debating if I'm going to use my araby as a dark elves count as or any other faction. Still deciding 😅
This is so cool to see! How are you (and anyone reading) planning to play these on the tabletop? My project for 2025 is a Cathay army that I've planned to play with empire rules - basically making an Empire army with 3D-printed Cathay charecters. I'm pretty sure at some point there will be a community project to create army list for Cathay with balanced rules, but for now I think proxying for Empire is the only way. For the past few days I've painted some Jade Warriors from Kyoushuneko and they look great.

Lovely old models which you have painted very nicely, looking forward to see more Empire/ Dog's of War figures in the future 👍

@dapz6763 haha actually got rid of quite a bit of those old dryads. 😅

my god man, I just effin love your videos - wholesomeness incarnate!
@@thomads3890 thanks 😊 really happy to start these projects. Here's to hoping for a productive hobby year 🍻
I hope they bring out a list this year for araby and cathay but I'm not holding my breath :/. Can't wait to see what you come up with!
@jayemcbride6772 hoping for both! And thanks, so many fun projects and conversions to come 🙂.

Still in the works for deciding what army to use my araby as 😅. Leaning towards dark elves since they have a nice variety of infantry units I can use.
I think that "white ninja" might actually be a sōhei warrior-monk. They are often depicted wearing white.
@@АнтонОрлов-я1ъ thanks, really appreciate everyone filling in with these snippets of knowledge! Makes painting the armies even more enjoyable 🙂
I, m very curious about those two mangler squigs from your collection. Where are they from?
@juanjoseramirezlarana1517 like in my older videos both mangler squigs I completed sculpted from scratch 🙂
Faces are ugly but beauty as well
