Since my primary reason to buy the Z06 is getting back to running track events at Road Atlanta, I am going with Z07, CF wheel, Cup2R, & CCB. Priced out at ~$177K.

$131,460 for my 3LZ build. Currently #105 at MacMulkin. 3-4 track sessions a year Z07 not exactly needed. Next summer should be a good one with the Z in the garage.
Speed Phenom Awesome Video I think it's awesome that you got to talk to Ashley from Carbon Revolution and I would definitely get Carbon Wheels if I was getting a C8 Z06 Z07
If you heavily track the car, the carbon wheels and brakes make no sense. I do about 35-40 days a year in my C8. The operating costs between rotors, wheels and tires would be prohibitive. The problem with the carbon wheels, is there are no suitable tire substitutes in those sizes. My plan would be to go to iron rotors (I’ve got the AP racing on my C8) and downsize the wheels to 18’s (if they fit) so I could use take-off slicks. I’d be interested in seeing the weight difference between the carbon wheels and a set of 18 or 19 inch truly forged wheels like Forgeline. I bet there would not be much difference (maybe 1-2 lbs per wheel).
Carbon wheels for additional $10K ish is a no-brainer to me. The question is, will these wheels be quality without any problems like we had on C7 GS and Z06. That's my concern. I think the price will soon go up if they are quality.
@@jimjack22 That's good news. I don't think those wheels were even 12 wide? I thought they were either 11" or 11.5" (odd I know). I could be wrong. But these are 13" I think. GM didn't have any problems with the 10" on the Stingrays that I know of. So an inch or two makes a difference apparently. I hope they're good. No brainer for me if they are.
Thank you Austin for an honest review on ceramic brakes on the car. My order is in and is very similar to what you're planning on getting. Glad to hear that I made the correct decision on getting the wheels as well as the zo7 package. This will be my first Corvette and I'm extremely excited to get it! Can't believe how lucky I was to put a deposit down so long ago and be first on the list at my dealership. Took a chance on what motor and how it would look and turns out it looks fabulous in the motor is absolutely the icing on the cake! Can't wait to see more reviews from you when you get your car, and where you're planning on taking it. Don't know if your plans include Washington State but if it does I'll be sure to be there, or even Oregon.
My C8Z is at 3000 Status. Believe my build is close to yours, but some would call it a basic ZO6... missing the high wing and stiffer suspension. Exposed CF wheels & Aero; and Ceramic brakes with 4S tires. I chose Exposed CF (since ZO7 unavailable; constraints) because you only get one chance to order this car, and you might as well get it all... besides, I don't want to answer this question "why didn't you get CF wheels & aero?" ! Thanks Austin, and CONGRATS! C8Z Red Mist HTC 3LZ Natural Dipped visible CF wheels w/yellow ceramic & visible ground effects 4S tires... (read constraints- no ZO7 or Edge Red )
I pray my local dealer doesn’t screw me on a promised allocation. Told I get #2 out of the dealership and they were lucky enough to get one out of the first allocation round of 300ish 2023 ZO6.
Were you able to find out how much a front and a rear wheel weight. I keep hearing about the weight savings but not an actual weight. Also, did he mention wheel repair? I saw an interview a while back that said cosmetic damage of the visible CF wheels can be repaired at shops around the country that they are partnering with but that they cannot repair structural damage.
It would be worth it to me if I had the money. I’ve had to trim a crap ton of options out after realizing how much they were charging. It’s still a stretch. I’ll just have to see what I have when my allocation comes up. Will probably see a couple price increases by that time too.
So I am on the fence about going carbon fiber wheels or regular wheels on my Z06. I don’t plan on going to the track often and I worry that although I love the look of the carbon fiber wheels I think the cup2R tires would be too much for the street. I wonder if it would be possible to get the carbon fiber wheels with PS4S tires instead.
They are awesome and a good deal if you go to the track, but sadly the American buyer of this vehicle on average will never see a track a day in their life. I would buy Magnesium alloy wheels as a second set for the road.
Carbon wheels 40lbs lighter. But. CarbonCeramic Brakes are 68 lbs lighter. QUESTION: Is there a handling response advantage from Carbon ceramic brakes only, without carbon wheels???? If you know?
Well I'd love to add it even though I'm against ccb's for replacement cost on track, I'm already tipping over the budget with a budget 3lz build with no aero or interior cf just stealth and black wheels and red calipers on elb. Will add the anesthetics after getting the car but cf wheels, aero, and ccb's are out on my end with cost.
I’m concerned about the fragility of carbon wheels on rough roads, pot etc. for daily driving. Would be interested if you think this is a legitimate concern or not.
Im working hard now so i can retire part time in my 50s.. im 38 now... i always wanted to go run on nice track. With kids and work i just dont have the time yet. A corvette would be way to much car for me.. im thinking im gonna buy that new corolla gr
Anyone ordering one of these Z06/07s without the hard top convertible option is making a big mistake. On a road trip with the top down/off, where will your luggage go? Go all the way, or go home.
Lighter and higher profit for GM? More propaganda from GM and it’s “influencers”. Face it the most track most Z06s with see is the road leading to Kroger.
Buy carbon ceramic brakes to reduce un sprung mass when tracking it but take of the carbon ceramic brakes at the track because you don’t want to wear them out because of cost of replacement 🥴

If track is the primary reason why not 1lz coupe with z07/cf wheels? Add comp seats with performance recorder and spend 140k
Nice thing is you can always go backwards with a retrofit and be cheaper than going forward with upgrades. CF wheels alone run $4500 a piece.

Those carbon wheels on a raised track curb would raise my pucker factor. Even metal allow wheels take a beating on some tracks.
