Thanks Ironman. You taught me 2 things today. Don’t tighten up your bushings until the car is on the ground and take the inner arm bolt off that way you can have leverage. Great stuff my man.
Waited three months to get this setup for my 2018 crosstrek. No fault of Ironman 4x4 due to current logistical issues. I used this video to put the lift on myself with a friend. Took me a bit longer than what they said. Closer to 6 hrs but I also had 50k miles, 15 states, and have been living in my car for 6 months. My advice. Put this kit on before you have 50k of road grim and rust. Excellent video and suspension. Thank you!
@@Ironman4x4America I understand it was no fault of your own and do appreciate all the quick responses to my emails. The ATS suspension is excellent! Very satisfied.
Thanks for the video! Installed in 5 hours on a 2018 Outback with hand tools. Took to have an alignment done at a local shop and no adjustments were needed due to your tip. Looks and rides great!
Great video it got me through the install on my 2020 Crosstrek. Getting the lower control arm back together nearly killed me. I finally had my wife slide the bolt in once I got it lined up. I don't think I could have done that part myself. Everything else was no problem on my own. My alignment shop has been around since 1984 and has seen just about everything. They really liked the kit and said it was one of the best they'd seen. No problem getting it to spec. All ready to hit the Oregon dunes!! Woooo Hooooo!!!
Great, no other kit out there for the subarus with that instruction! Will be my lift kit! Thank you so much for this great peace of work. Abo included!
Some really great tips in the video; thanks! I thought I would mention, regarding the exhaust spacers, that they go on much easier with a dose of saliva or a touch of silicon spray. On my Foresters, reinstalling the spacers is incredibly difficult without doing this.
Excellent video. Clear and to the point without the unnecessary fluff that currently pollutes many product-oriented videos. Now all you need to do is expand your product line to help those who have older but still viable Subies. Ha! Cheers.
I just completed the installation on my 2018 Crosstrek. I'm generally pretty handy, but often struggle with car work, and this was a bit more of a struggle than I anticipated. A couple of things caused me trouble. First, the bit about leveraging the control arm (goto about 28:30 in the video) by removing the inside bolt absolutely did not work for me. There was no way I was going to push that into place. So, I had to take off the outside bolt, re-attach the inside bolt, then put a jack under the outside part to get the bolt inserted (no amount of jacking would work to align the inside bolt). That was a big time-waster for me. The other trouble I had was the rear swaybar (starts at about 23:20 in the video). That seems like an easy thing, but it actually gave me the most trouble. That was partly due to Ironman sending me a wrong part which caused a lot of confusion (they do deserve credit for immediately sending the correct part when I finally figured it out and contacted them). If you notice, in this video, he never shows the step where the rear swaybar links are finally bolted in---instead he just says that you do that later, and then later they are magically connected. I had to do it in the opposite order of what the video suggests. That is, I first connected the swaybar links, then connect the rubber mounts to those fancy metal extender blocks provided by Ironman. If I had it to do over, I'd just completely remove the rear swaybar (and still might), as those links look like they will not hold up to to offroad use. In fact, there is another good TH-cam video on this installation (I'm sure you can find it...) and that guy doesn't even have a rear swaybar, so he avoided all of the hassles associated with that part of the installation. The hint in this video about the alignment bolt is amazing. My car drives perfectly, and I haven't yet gotten it aligned. I will get an alignment in a couple of days, but I'm confident that it's pretty close to being spot on. Anyway, the bottom line is that I got it to work. I can't wait to test it out in some tough conditions, and I'm sure it will be awesome!
My kit for a 2021 outback arrives Thursday, I installed it in the driveway in about 4 or 5 hours, without disconnecting the rear lower control arm a long jack handle and just a little pressure on the upper control arm allows the old strut to come out and the new one to slide right in with the sub frame lowered.

always good to do cleaning and corrosion control anytime you're removing parts of a vehicle and getting access to otherwise inaccessible or difficult-to-access areas.
Heads up 2019 outback the sway bar needs no extra pieces. Just unbolt both sides let everything hang and after getting the struts bolted in the sway bar end links can be tapped in place
I have this kit installed into my outback wilderness, I do get more wheel travel caps, however I did not get any extra ground clearance increase. the only ground clearance increase is from 245/65-17 tires
That is correct with any suspension lift and precisely how they work. The lift provides more room in the wheel arches for the fitment of larger diameter tires. It's the larger diameter tires that give you a ground clearance increase, not the lift. The lift will help with improving approach, breakover, and departure angles.

@@eat_sleep_boost5569 So would you say it's softer or firmer than the stock? I am coming from Lifted 4x4 which was too harsh for everyday driving and kinda don't want to go firmer than the stock ride if you get me.
@@adamcrane3126 Much softer on pretty much every surface but firm where it needed to be if that makes sense. Best way i can explain it is sharp little bumps at higher speeds it soaked right up, great on road manners. The slower speeds over rough terrain the suspension remained rigid like typical offroad suspension does, but never harsh. Honestly this is what Subaru should have put on all of their SUV/Crossovers from the factory but since most people use them as grocery getters and rugrat haulers they put a cheap garbage mushy stock setup.
That front brake line has a lot of tension. Installed this like you and rewatched and yup yours is tight too. Shouldn't this need a spacer to give slack?
When you install the rear brake line extender bracket, check to make sure the line doesn't rub on the tires after you install them. Don't ask me how I know (I used a Rancho lift kit which works great btw - just had to cut and re-weld the brake line extenders towards the center of the car.)

a question? I can put the tires on a 2022 forester wilderness one inch higher without risking damaging something, I only ask because since it has a shorter ratio than the others and therefore spends more gasoline, it is to compensate for that fuel consumption more
Best instructional video on a lift I've seen. My question is. What's the benefit of this lift? And does this lift interfere with the Eyesight system on the car? Looking to get a Subaru Outback next year. 2021
Hi Johnny, Our ATS suspension will provide a 2" lift for your vehicle which allows you to fit larger tires. This will get you increased ground clearance. Where our ATS kits really shine is with our 2" extended travel struts included. This gives you increased travel providing better conforming to the terrain. This results in better traction, comfort, and stability with the vehicle. This system doesn't interfere with Eyesight. Hope this helps!
@@Ironman4x4America I came across an article about doing lifts on these cars. And it talked about these lift messing with the cvs joint and the drive shaft angle. Also adding the heavier tires messes with the handling and braking of the car. I would love to do a lift when I get my outback, but don't to hurt the driveability of my ride.
PLEASE tell me where to get those type of jack stands? They fit in the punch weld lifting area perfectly without bending the pinch welds!! GOTTA have some!
I am planning to lift my 2024 Forester with Ironman 2inch lifting kit. Do you know is it just bolt on and that's it or do you have to make some adjustments with the cars brain for all the electronics to work properly?
This suspension would be great for older generation Subaru Foresters and Outbacks. When I see modified Subarus and Subarus off road it's usually those models (SF/SGs and BPs) so it bewilders me why Ironman 4x4 would chose to supply suspension components only for the newer models when they could be making an absolute killing on older ones. 🤷♂️
I spoke with someone today from them and was told they are working on a system for the older models but not sure when it will be done or available.. and yea I agree kinda should of started with the older versions since there are so many more of them then the newer models…
I actually bought this kit for my 23 CT, i haven't found a set of wheels and tires I'm completely happy with. I was wondering if you knew what method wheel that's going on there and the size ( tire information would be greatly appreciated as well)? Everyone runs the 15x7 with a 215 75 or 225 75. I'm not going off road often at all so a bigger wheels size wouldn't hurt too much in my daily driving. Plus I just really liked how that setup looks in the video. Any help would be awesome! ✌️
We engineered ATS to work within the factory geometry and range of motion. The rear needed the extension to keep the driveline geometry in the optimum position. The front is well within range and doesn't need it.
2023 Crosstrek Sport No installation instructions in the 2” all terrain suspension lift kit had to print them from your site. In your installation guide, besides #15 (Carry out 4 wheel alignment, beginning with rear toe and thrust angle before completing front alignment) is there another alignment specs sheet with more information I would need for the alignment?
So glad I didn't order any of he other lifts yet, getting full replacement struts makes so much more sense. Would have been great to add some before and after shots. Because you have the rear body spacers I assume this won't have the wheel not being centered problem that so many other spacer only kits have. Great video 👍
Is the swaybar link on the Ironman strut at exactly the same position on the strut as as it is on the OEM strut or has it been raised by 2 inches so that the sway bar geometry remains as original. Some spacer lift suppliers like LP Aventure supply a bracket to effectively shorten the sway bar link by the height of the lift. This prevents fouling of the steering rod at full extension.

Also adding the heavier tires messes with the handling and braking of the car. I would love to do a lift when I get my outback, but don't to hurt the driveability of my ride.
You did a really good job with this!
Thank you!
need option for the 4th gen Outback 2010-2013
Seconded
Great instructional video 👍🏻
Do you need brake line extenders on the front of a Forester or Crosstrek with this lift install?
some complain
others, love
i have
no complaints,
of any
Subaru
PLEASE tell me where to get those type of jack stands? They fit in the punch weld lifting area perfectly without bending the pinch welds!! GOTTA have some!
Haha! I think he got those from Harbor Freight actually. They work so far and no limbs have been lost.
I am planning to lift my 2024 Forester with Ironman 2inch lifting kit. Do you know is it just bolt on and that's it or do you have to make some adjustments with the cars brain for all the electronics to work properly?
This guys is awesome!
It is a bummer that these are only available for the CVT subarus and not for the more off road capable earlier non-CVT subarus!
We are aware of our Subaru friends' desire for the earlier models. ;)
@@KingSim72 im about a month away from modifying my gen3 forester. I might wait a little longer if they come out with a suspension kit soon.
Yeah. I'd be into it to. I got a 2011 outback. Would love to lift it a little, with better suspension and tyres.
Great video. Any news on this set-up for 2012 SH Forester??
Nice work big feller cheer's..
Those brake lines should be replace with longer steel braided lines for off-roading!
Thank you for sharing!
Here's what we are running on our Crosstrek. Wheels: Method MR501 17x8 (42mm offset)
Tires: BFGoodrich KO2 225/65r17
@@Ironman4x4America thanks for the response
is it also available on wrx sti?
At this time we do not offer ATS lift kits for the WRX STI.
Hahaha quoting Derek Zoolander .. love it but you should have hit us with that Blue Steel
We felt the Blue Steel was a bold choice and opted to save it for a special moment!
Big question!
I understand why to lower the rear sub frame but why not the front?
We engineered ATS to work within the factory geometry and range of motion. The rear needed the extension to keep the driveline geometry in the optimum position. The front is well within range and doesn't need it.
2023 Crosstrek Sport
No installation instructions in the 2” all terrain suspension lift kit had to print them from your site.
In your installation guide, besides #15 (Carry out 4 wheel alignment, beginning with rear toe and thrust angle before completing front alignment) is there another alignment specs sheet with more information I would need for the alignment?
Any plans to make a kit for the gen 4 ('10-'14) Outback 3.6's?
Perhaps in the future, nothing immediate at this time.
So glad I didn't order any of he other lifts yet, getting full replacement struts makes so much more sense. Would have been great to add some before and after shots. Because you have the rear body spacers I assume this won't have the wheel not being centered problem that so many other spacer only kits have. Great video 👍
Make one for Subaru Ascent, please!!!
In the works.
Very good information
Is the swaybar link on the Ironman strut at exactly the same position on the strut as as it is on the OEM strut or has it been raised by 2 inches so that the sway bar geometry remains as original. Some spacer lift suppliers like LP Aventure supply a bracket to effectively shorten the sway bar link by the height of the lift. This prevents fouling of the steering rod at full extension.
Excellent tuttorial!
What Wheels/rims are those? Love'em! 😉
Method wheels and BFG KO2 tires.
Any idea's on making these coil overs for the Mitsubishi Outlanders? I would buy one quick smart!
Nothing in the works right now. The Outlander sales numbers here in North America are very low so there is not really any demand, unfortunately.
@@Ironman4x4America that really sucks as in Australia every second car is a outlander it seems.
@@adsmel5881 Reach out to head office in Melbourne with your request. They would be best suited to consider a solution for an Australian sold vehicle. Here in North America we just don't have that many Mitsubishi's sold here, including the Pajero, which is a bummer as they are great vehicles.
Any plans in the future to make this for 2013-2017 Crosstreks??
Yes!
@@Ironman4x4America Sweet!! Thanks!
hey @ironman. are the extended exhaust hangers needed for 2021 forester?
Volkswagen Atlas next?
Any chance this is coming for the 2012-2017 XV Crosstreks?
In the future.
