  • A bird strike shortly after takeoff caused U.S. Airways Flight 1549 to crash-land in the middle of the Hudson River almost 15 years ago. All 150 passengers on board survived. A survivor from that 'miracle' flight, Pamela Seagle, recounts her experience from that day.

I understand a little how she feels when she says every time she’s on a plane she thinks where the exits are, etc. because once I was in a hotel fire, not a bad one but I was on the eighth floor so I had to go down a lot of stairs because you can’t take the elevator during a fire, of course so every new hotel I look for where the exits are to the staircase

This was 2009…people didn’t just pick up and film back then. The new iPhone at the time was the second generation, the iPhone 3G. Besides, do you remember just how cumbersome and difficult to use those smartphone interfaces were?

Pilots now do their training on computer simulations
The pilots of yesteryear were usually life long pilots War pilots with years of experience
This is why I won’t fly anymore

    • @ldalton7414
      @ldalton7414 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Actually simulators allow pilots to practice emergency scenarios and that was IMPOSSIBLE before simulators. So now, with training and practice for wide variety of emergent situations, pilots KNOW what needs to be done instead of frantically trying to invent a response to something they've never experienced before. Your comment here exposes your ignorance of the subject at hand.

Wasn't it strange how no children under the age of 12 and no elderly people w/ pre-existing conditions were passengers. Almost as if they were screened/preselected.

I just finished watching news on Inside Edition (old news), a woman travelling with her children, 4 yr old girl and a 9 months old baby. A man sitting near them took the baby boy and hold him tightly ready for the impact.

The oldest passenger was 85, and the youngest was 9 months. Most of the passengers were traveling for work, so most were middle aged and in good enough health to work at a job that requires travel. You wouldn't expect many leisure travelers on a flight from La Guardia to Charlotte on a weekday in January.

My friend, it was precisely thanks to the pilot
that all the passengers were saved,
      for his magnificent maneuverability
      .
If you inform yourself better, you will realize that,
      once the plane was damaged,
The pilot only had 2 options left:
      land on water
      or die crashed

@@abcdefg12369 The plane didn't have enough altitude or speed to return to LGA or make it to Teterboro. It's either the river (decent chance of survival) or crashing into a densely populated land area (very slim chance of survival + causing hundreds of casualties upon impact). I think the answer of where to land was pretty clear, and he chose the right one.
