    Vader snapping that kid's neck was horrifying. Like, yeah, he killed the Younglings, but he thought they were too far gone and he was saving them, being "merciful". But THIS!? My god. How cruel. And then to just leave the mother with a dead husband and son. I still can't believe Anakin was gonna be a father himself. I can't believe Vader found affection for Luke and Leia in the end!

    "He's naked under there?"
    It's actually pretty intense though. The original suit didn't fit right, so it would rip his skin off and cause constant agony. Sideus had a newer version that fit better, but Vader refused, because the pain made him stronger in the dark side. So some of that mutilation you see is from his suit.

    For me, the infighting between the Inquisitors beautifully illustrates why the Sith instituted the Rule of Two in the first place.
    Anytime there's more than one master and apprentice around, they just kill eachother for power/control, and it hurts their overall agenda.

      @First Name Last Name Which parts are aganist the cannon? This is just to show how weak Obi-wan is right now. And how much stronger Vader is, and reiterate how big of a threat he is. Hayden said they have a fight scene similar in intensity to ROTS fight. So, it's easy to spectulate Obi-wan will get close to where he was. regain his humor and hope like he has in a new hope. And manage to lose just about all of his fighting skills again by a new hope. They're kind of boxed in with what all they can do. I'd rather have the show, flaws and all, then nothing at all. If you don't like the cannon, try and pretend the show never happened. Like I do with the season 8 of GOT that just never seemed to have been made.

    The parallels between Obi Wan and Luke's journey in TLJ are interesting. They both had a student they loved, and therefore could not be impartial. They both failed their respective students and when it all went to shit, they both sent themselves onto exile.
    The new trilogy had a lot of errors i.e. flow, etc but leaning on the parallels, had Rey been a Kenobi having to save Ben and succeeding, it would have been fascinating. Like the breaking of a cycle.

    Vader actually has a lot more skill using his lightsaber than people give him credit for. He is canonically ranked as the number 1 Sith duelist according to some databooks, and he has the feats to back this claim.
    Obviously he had to relearn lightsaber combat to better suit his new body, but his core basics were the same. He already relied on heavy power blows as Anakin, but he would make up for gaps by substituting any lack of precision with blistering speed. Vader does the opposite, taking a page out of both Dooku's and ironically Obi-Wan's book, and relies on perfect precision to make up for his lack of mobility. We see this frequently when he's actually serious about a fight. He'll often employ quick thrusts and slashes to feel out the metaphorical chinks in a Jedi's armour, before choosing to either lay off and just play defense to get a feel for their offensive capabilities, or just gun it and overwhelm them with a barrage of crushing blows. This is a formula we see him repeat during the OT. If he isn't taking an opponent seriously though, he'll just kinda lazily hack away at them like he did in this episode.
    But yeah, Vader's strength, precision, and force combo is absolutely no joke. Which we love to see.

      @bronxboy151 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @AbsurdFalcon
      @AbsurdFalcon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I wouldent take those databooks as 1 to 1 factual. Vader is still a top tier duelist but Matt Martin has talked about how those rankings in the databook are more like sport rankings. They are not definitive and the reason they exist is simply because the book had a need for it. Someone in spot 4 can still beat someone in spot 1 in the right situation.

    It's really, really cool and hilarious that this character is *so* much of a cultural icon that already commands respect with even just his presence that it's absolutely terrifying just watching the guy get up, shower, get dressed, and head to work.
    The "actions speak louder than words" is a pretty solid theme here that works into all of the little subplot threads in some clever and unique ways. Like the loading droid - it's a Worker Droid, not a Protocol Droid - it has no real need to speak. ("But what if he has something to say?" "He will say it with his actions.") Stormtroopers just write him off as too stupid or non-sentient to understand, while this droid was actually a ride or die homie ready to start cracking skulls with an ax at the drop of a hat.
    Compare that with the Uber Driver Walrus played by Zack Braff - he seems pleasant enough, he speaks with kindness, he's polite, and friendly, and comes across as legitimately helpful. But he still just drives them right up to the Stormtroopers and throws them under the bus, nonchalantly.
    Obi-Wan doesn't want little miss to talk - "I can't talk, or I don't talk?" "You don't talk." "Yeah, but we need to talk to this guy so that we can get some help." And though it was a bumpy ride, little miss knows how to improvise gracefully, being raised as the daughter of *SENATOR* Bail Organa and *QUEEN* Breha Organa. So they have this playful "I know *who* she's like," banter that highlights Leia's understanding of these things - but this is 100% about the Legacy of Padme Amidala, who was both a *Senator* and a *Queen* .
    Then Reva and the Dejected Green Mushroom Inquisitor have a pissing contest about taking initiative vs taking advantage, and ultimately come across as two petulant siblings trying to snitch on each other to Dad who doesn't give a shit. "I just went and spoke to Darth Vader, buddy, you're SCREWED." "Oh, yeah? Well *I* already informed Lord Vader, and he gave me a cookie."
    And to cap it off, Vader is obsessed with getting revenge on Kenobi, but there's a sense of meta-aware insecurity to him, as if he was wary of being criticized for his Rogue One puns and generally petulant nature from the prequel trilogy. So he just walks up, menacing as shit, and then suddenly just STOPS. There's a small beat in which I'm pretty sure everybody watching at home was like, "He's about to say something stupid, isn't he?" And the guy flips the freak out - "QUIT MAKING FUN OF MY DIALOGUE!" and starts snapping necks.
    And more power to him, because even I had to agree that Vader, in this episode, had one of the sickest burns in the fantasy -- easily way better than, "Be careful not to choke on your aspirations."

    Force-Users are really pretty easy to fight. Drop two or three stun grenades near them, on short fuses, then hit them with a blaster on stun at range, and probably pelt them a couple of times for good measure. Then switch to standard setting and frag 'em with blaster bolts.
    That's doing it alone. If you've got four-person fireteam, it's even easier.
    Games make it artificially hard by limiting your options in really stupid ways...and movies make it difficult because they want a specific chain of events, rather than actually give some thought to how things would play out, and change the conditions in a more natural way to make a certain outcome happen.

    I think we saw Reva in that opening of episode one as a youngling, she grows up both angry and in pain because of O66 and just wants to find a place she can belong again. The way she stared wistfully at that jedi symbol in this episode...as violent as she is, I think by the end of the season, she will turn back to her early training as a jedi and somehow end up helping Obi-Wan. Just a wild theory :)

    The Vader voice is probably done by the same AI that did young Luke in Mandalorian and Boba Fett.
    James Earl Joes' voice was much lower and more gravelly due to age when he did Rogue One and Rebels.
    The software apparently takes samples of the voice of the actor from the timeframe they're aiming for, then can re-create it. None of Luke's dialogue we heard in the Disney+ shows was actually him, but the AI.

    I was SHOCKED that James Earl Jones reprised his roll once again. I can’t be the only one who watched Vader in Rogue One and could hear that his voice just wasn’t what it use to be. I mean, it was good, but after 40+ years of doing this voice it just wasn’t as sharp as it was in his heyday. Not that anyone could possibly blame him for it. Anyways, after seeing Vader in Jedi Fallen Order I was convinced that JEJ had finally retired from the Vader voice, and they were just going hire a similar voice to replace him. All that said HOLY SH*T JAMES EARL JONES KILLED IT 🤩🤩🤩 LIKE, GODDAMN! I FEEL LIKE HE’S BEEN SAVING UP FOR THIS SHOW!!! THE WAY HE SELLS LINES LIKE “I AM WHAT YOU MADE ME!!!”. PERFECTION!!!
