  • Today we are in Belem, the gateway to the Amazon. We are açaí lovers, that amazing and nutritional berry that actually comes from the Brazilian Amazon jungle. Now that we are near the real source of acai, we had to see what it is like. Up here in Belem, and in the North of Brazil in general, people eat açaí completely differently than in the rest of Brazil and the world. Açaí is a favorite Brazilian food of ours, so we were very excited to try it up here in the Amazon. Try some Brazilian food with us and see the extraordinary way that Brazilians in Belem actually eat their açaí. This is the acai Belem Brazil travel vlog.

    • @raffa85
      @raffa85 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      But in most of the açaí shops found all around Belém you can ask for a thicker version that is as creamy as ice cream (and 100% natural), but of course it's a bit more expensive, because they use more fruit pulp to do it. They probably had it thinner, because they tried it at a street market and the food in those kind of places tends to be cheaper.

Since It's a touristic place and a lot of tourist go there from all over Brazil and the world, they (their city hall or local tourism authority) should make them to meet some requirements before they go into business. It is the conclusion of scientists, right there in Pará, that açaí reduces the absorption of bad cholesterol by our body. So sugar-free açaí is an excellent food for those who suffer from diabetes, for those who suffer from high cholesterol and for those who want to lose weight. So I think that all of Brazil should consume açaí like people in northern Brazil. Although it would be much more expensive. It is a matter of logistics to sell açaí with guaraná (it is in guaraná that there is sugar). And you have to have sugar to make açaí sorbet. Sorbet is water-based ice cream instead of milk.
