One of the greatest rock bands to come out of anywhere, period. They were founded before Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax or Megadeth, and they essentially kept the same lineup all this time. Amazing.
Show-Ya would be in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame if they were a Western band. Strictly on their contribution to music alone, and nothing to do with being an all-female group. They've been just as influential to Rock/Metal music in Japan as Led Zeppelin or Metallica have been in the West. And that's not even including what impact their Naon no Yaon festival has had on inspiring girls to get into music. I know a lot of great young female guitarist, like Saki and Sakura Yoshida, claim Sun-Go as a major influence. I don't think I've even heard an "OK" song by them yet.
For the past 60 years, the Western music industry has ignored Japanese musicians and talent as if they did not exist on this planet. Because the Western music industry did not sign many Japanese musicians to sales contracts in the Western music market and did not supply their music to the world market, we have long been deprived of the opportunity to learn about the existence of Japanese popular music and talent in various genres. It is only in the last decade or so, since the Millennium, that the invisible barrier of racial prejudice in the Western music industry has been broken down and the music of the past has been distributed throughout the world with the advent of the new media, the Internet , TH-cam. Since then, many Japanese popular music and musicians and bands of the past have become known to many people around the world. The Japanese popular music scene of various genres had a history of more than 60 years, almost the same as that of the West, and was just as active as in the West, along with the flourishing Japanese musical instrument and music equipment manufacturing industry, However, from the 1970s to the present, Japanese musicians, no matter how talented, have not been given the opportunity to sign contracts that would take them to the world market, but only release contracts limited to the domestic Japanese market. many musical talents who shined in the 1980s had limited financial success and no recognition in the world, Some disappeared from the music industry. And now many of them are now old men, over 60 years old, and some have already passed away. Thus, for a long time before the advent of the Internet, people around the world were not aware of Japanese rock, jazz, and popular music and its many musicians.
@@brianchar-bow3273 I humbly profess my allegiance to musical acts from the Asian realm from this point forward! They have SO MUCH great music and fun to share with the world!
FAIRY / SHOW-YA Included in SHOW-YA's third original album “WAYS” (released September 3, 1986) Lyrics by Keiko Terada, Composed by Miki Igarashi (Sango) Arranged by Shoji Namba and SHOW-YA SHOW-YA is... Keiko TERADA : Vocals Miki NAKAMURA (Captain) : Keyboards, chorus Miki TSUNODA (Mittan) - : Drums, chorus Miki IGARASHI (Third: Sango) : Guitars, chorus, Satomi SENBA ; Bass, chorus, (English translation of the rough meaning of the Japanese lyrics) Your dark hair, shimmering in the falling sunlight, bewitchingly hides your pink skin. I wish I could dream like I did yesterday But the wind blows violently, drowning out the scent of you who should have been next to me.
Fairy. Before the hot summer breeze turns cold You strike a chord in my heart I wonder why you would do such a thing You are the fairy.
You brush your wet hair and we both look at each other Smiling, I dance with you in my silk dress
Oh like a shell floating on the clear beautiful sea Your gentle slender fingertips rise high As if dancing in the sky
Fairy I love you with all my heart and soul Now all I can see is you, nothing else It's truly a strange feeling I have You're Fairy You're Fairy I love you with all my heart and soul Now all I can see is you and nothing else It's truly a strange feeling I have You're Fairy SHOW-YA is a Japanese hard rock heavy metal band with five female members. The band is a pioneer of Japanese girl metal bands composed entirely of women in the 1980s. The predecessor of the band was the band "Medusa" with vocalist Keiko Terada and keyboardist Miki Nakamura, which later changed its name to "SHOW-YA". In 1982, the band won the grand prize in the ladies' division of a band contest sponsored by YAMAHA. In 1985, they made their major label debut with Toshiba EMI Japan. Two songs from their seventh album "Outer Limits" released in 1987, their 8th single "Marginal Lovers" and 9th single "I am a Stormy Woman (ARASHI)" became consecutive hits, and the album sold over 600,000 copies, making them the most popular girl metal band in Japan at that time. The band went through breakups, and reunions, and is one of those rare Japanese bands where the original members are still active with a career spanning over 35 years. It is regrettable that SHOW-YA did not get a chance to release their works in the world market by signing a formal sales contract with a Western record company during their young heyday, and they were buried only in the Japanese market and did not exist for a long time.
What more could we add here? Every single version of it is a revelation and the louder you turn it the more you can experience from it. I'll always love it!
In the comments section sun-go and mitten spell miki in Japanese the same but captain spells it differently, any of our Japanese speakers shed any light on this just out of curiosity?
What a classic 😊

WOW.
Love all
genial
