- While at the Chino Airport, this Sikorsky S-64E was spotted working some maintenance runs. Enjoy the sound of those powerful rotors as they run them up prior to a deployment. This aircraft is N6979R, a 1968 SIKORSKY S-64E / CH-54A. The Sikorsky S-64 Skycrane is an American twin-engine heavy-lift helicopter. It is the civil version of the United States Army's CH-54 Tarhe. It is currently produced as the S-64 Aircrane by Erickson Inc.
This is my 2nd favorite helicopter. I even invested into Erickson for awhile and lost some money. The business side of the company wasn't run right, but the S-64 was built, flown and the operations (in my view) were done right! Thank you and good catch...
Looks like they're doing a track and balance here on the main rotors since they have the sensor mounted on the nose. I'm still wondering which mechanic is wearing my Costa sun glasses that I left in the cockpit at the end of my shift haha.

One thing that always bothered me, was, 'where is the Fuel tankage?' on these birds!?
