Qliphort Disk my beloved I wish this archetype were slightly better. I really love the lore of this archetype, mainly because it's a really interesting spin on the Tree of Life - having the different branches represented by computer named parts is pretty genius theming
I wonder how well Apoqliphort monsters would work if their protection was worded differently. Instead of being unaffected by monsters with a lower level/rank, what if instead they said they can only *be* affected by monsters with a higher level/rank? That would mean that Link monsters could no longer bypass the protection, as it’s impossible for them to have a level at all, let alone a high level.
It also jives well with the buff/debuff effects of the scales. You go from getting a 600 point advantage on your opponents’ monsters to a 1600 point advantage. You could kill a BEWD with a no-tribute qli monster that way.
What I'd also like to add: Scout can search Monolith, then you can pop(bounce) scout. Afterwards when you summon Scout and Monolith you have 2 lvl 5 Earth Machine monsters. That gives you access to CDI or any other Rank 5
I used to think of this archetype as nothing more than boring but the more I learned about the game and how it works. I come to realize that we probably wouldn’t be playing the same game as we do today without these guys.
Qli held special place in my heart. The second archetype that made me re-learn YGO after 10 years disconnect, alongside erasing the yugiboomer out of me about Pendulums.
There's several things I'm shocked you didn't mention. First, MR4 nerfed them in a way that was really unexpected, it made the pendulum scales take up slots that floodgates normally occupied. Moreso, versatility didn't reflect how Scout and Monolith used to be a cheap CyDra Infinity engine.
I like Towers cards not falling victim to the same removal as earlier bosses, and Tribute removal was a necessary step to balancing that defensive prowess. The way I liked them being outed most was with beatsticks like Diamond Crab King.
Gotta bring them back into relevancy, need a bigger Link monster that turns off opponents links/ reduce levels on your opponents by like 3. That Extra deck potential is there , a Pendulum tuner, fusion/Synchro/XYZ Pendulums. Did you know that Reqliate while face up activates before Normal summoned monsters effects activate, defeating the purpose?
don't forget time tearing morganite. it gives you double summons for the whole game, and allows you to double draw in a deck that really needs the resources in the modern game. on top of that, it pairs with qlip for 3 normal summons a turn, which past turn 1, is extremely likely, since the decks modern builds are focused around slowing the game down until they're ready to burst kill the opponent.
qliphorts can still beat a lot of decks. played with floodgates like kaiser colloseum, lose one turn and skill/soul drain it becomes nearly impossible for anything to fight back. just normal summoning any qli monster and equiping it with saqlifice is hard to out and near impossible for most decks when they can only summon one monster that has its effects negated.
People might hate it but animation of Apoqliphort Towers in Master Duel is Smashingly menacing. Imagine that thing suddenly appears out of nowhere and *towering* all above others within the chaos battle.
So, those ARE NOT fleshy tentacles. They're in what is a classic anime mechanical tentacle-arm style for aquatic use. This style for tentacle is almost EXCLUSIVELY reserved for aquatic mecha in anime and you almost never see them on non-aquatic mecha, and we see it explored initially in early Go Nagai super robots which are good at grappling and fighting in the water. In "real robot" anime, the style is also used heavily in the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise. Arms which look like that which can extend or shrink in a telescopic fashion are on every single aquatic robot except for one in the first Gundam anime, and it continues to be the go-to style for aquatic mecha arms even today. We've seen Gundam experiment with other types (Such as the Cancer and Pisces in Wing), but mostly they all have arms that look very similar to the cephalopod's. Check out MSM-03 Gogg sometime. So, it's actually their way of communicating to us by having that monster in the air that it is designed to be able to function in multiple environments and is very likely an aquatic specialist model. They're telling us a story with the design of the robot. Which I think makes the art especially cool. -- Laser Qlip means to be clipped by the laser. It depicts Towers engaging in all-direction fire but the effect is about getting more monsters on the field rather than being destructive. The impression I get from this is you are engaging in suppressive fire to be able to mobilize your forces. This is a really common tactic in both real world military conflict and in games in general, to the point that suppressive fire tends to be its own game mechanic, often either inhibiting the enemy's ability to effectively shoot back, or somehow allowing you to better mobilize. I also think the card is partially about getting tribute summons in for more big hitters.
this is the next deck I'm building, just finished T.G. last week. i used to hate dueling this deck back in 2014, what a nightmare! I'm gonna mix cards to support Obelisk into the deck and have some fun with Pendulums since neither Metalfoes nor Deskbots are anywhere near good atm you should make more Duel Terminal videos. that series of decks are my favorite in the whole game, that's where I started playing competitively back in 2009. then I found a shop in the new area I moved to in 2012, and built at least half of the Duel Terminal decks in less than a year. komoney needs to show the Hidden Arsenal some love! the upcoming battles of legend set is nice, but inadequate!
I main pure Qliphort Deck with Obelisk and maybe putting some of the other monsters that requires Tribute summons with effects against opponents/crowd control. I'm still learning Link summoning rules and combos because I hated those and stayed in Pendulum and Ritual summoning techniques. 😂
Turbo towers was my favorite deck of all time especially because I ran a second towers as my 41st card, so even if my opponent got rid of it(usually honest/star eater) I’d windmill slam the second and dash their hopes, I can go on for hours about this deck and it’s 94% chance of putting out towers turn one in its prime, or how chicken game actually helped end the game faster as they try to find the answer they didn’t have
Laser Qlip was in the archetype solely so that you can bring out fodder through pend summon and then tribute summon the bigger guys with their effects intact, especially after you stacked the extra deck Qliph may be a pendulum deck, but it also relies a lot on tributing to get your non-towers power cards online
Qliphort will always be part of my TOP 3 decks, still use for locals just to mess with the locals specially the deck being so versatile to change in terms of traps as well as floodgates. Golden great job on giving these guys a thorough explanation, i loved it and Konami send us some support! dammit it needs atleast one to two card to be competitive lets get it done 2024!!!’ Letssss goooo best deck!!!!
You know, I dunno if its worth the try, but I think Clockwork Night is a good idea for this deck, it increases ATK and DEF by 500, and decreases your opponents stuff by the same like the boss monsters, and makes all monsters EARTH machine on the field which won't hurt you but will hinder your opponent and if its in the GY, you can banish it to add ANY of your monsters from your deck to your hand for the price of one extra discard. Just saying.
Qliphorts- like most Pendulum decks- may have too complicated a gameplan for me to actually enjoy running them, but god damn do they have one of the best aesthetics in all of YGO.
qliphorts are one of the easiest arch types to play actualy. the most consistent ones are towers turbo and flood gates with kaiser colloseum. all you realy do is scale scout and monolith then summon towers or normal summon any qli, equip it with saqlifice then put down flood gates to win. carrier and helix are tribute fodder that clears the board and the rest are just fancy beaters.
4:42 real life inspiration of the Qliphort 6:46 Should we make a "ooooh, Monarch stat" counter for this video? 16:25 shoutouts to number 52 diamond crab king 25:40 that's not skill. drain. that's fun drain
Qlip is a pun for Clip, the device where ammo is stored to load guns with multiple rounds at once. It fits the artwork where Towers are quick-firing their lasers, even if the effect doesn'f fit the artwork nor the name at all
20:30 “Laser Clip” using “clip” as a verb. As in something being clipped by the lasers. As you can see, several things are getting hit by lasers in the art.

I wish this archetype were slightly better. I really love the lore of this archetype, mainly because it's a really interesting spin on the Tree of Life - having the different branches represented by computer named parts is pretty genius theming
Laser Qlip is actually a pun about *clipping* something "to strike quickly with a glancing blow"
Idea: run clockwork nights
It can either search any of your qlis, or aid their attack modulation strategy
Plus it turns whatever you steal from your opponent into a Genius fodder.
It also jives well with the buff/debuff effects of the scales. You go from getting a 600 point advantage on your opponents’ monsters to a 1600 point advantage. You could kill a BEWD with a no-tribute qli monster that way.
23:03 it's actually Re-Qliate as in, Recreate, given Qli is pronounced the same way as the *cre* in create, so "Ree-Qliate rather than "Reh-Qliate."
This archetype taught me how to play the game. The simple gameplan along with advanced rulings made for a smoother transition into difficult decks.
Holy shit same here
What I'd also like to add:
Scout can search Monolith, then you can pop(bounce) scout.
The worst part is getting xenolocked into Qli only. It needs more links.
Qli held special place in my heart. The second archetype that made me re-learn YGO after 10 years disconnect, alongside erasing the yugiboomer out of me about Pendulums.
Damn, almost exact same experience for me
What is this track in the background of the video? It’s goddamn amazing and I wish Nova linked the music they use
Ah yes, the archetype that gave us the phrase "Towers Monsters", you guys suck to play with AND play around
I like Towers cards not falling victim to the same removal as earlier bosses, and Tribute removal was a necessary step to balancing that defensive prowess. The way I liked them being outed most was with beatsticks like Diamond Crab King.
Shout-out to my homie, Number 52: Diamond Crab King, You a real one, if you know you knoe.
"Konami never bring back snatch steal" awkward 🤣
"Konami, Never. Bring. Back. Snatch. Steal."
Yeah about that.....
Guess who came off the ban list recently.
5:12 or you're a timelord player/ 5ds season 4 watcher
I have so many fond memories of playing Qlis back in high school.
What a timing, a Duel Terminal related archetype gate released recently in Master Duel lol
I legit just ordered my Qli deck today. This is a sign. Thank you golden.

HOLY - I just realized that Piercing the Darkness would be a super-silly but maybe not bad Phantom Knights tech pick.
Um... Will we ever get the continuation of Duel Terminal lore?
This theme needs support. I love this deck but they are way too slow these days. They need a link 1 that helps get you tribute fodder.
qliphorts can still beat a lot of decks.

Laser Qlip is suppose to be a buncha laser /whips/, as the lasers lassoed Shaddoll Construct and tied it to Towers, which Laser Qlip features!
Literally building these in my online locals MasterDuel Tournament, NICE TIMING BRO

12:50 snatch steal is back lol fully unlimited in MD and 1 in TCG, it's really not too bad compared to other cards nowadays

The computer directory lines on Scout and Monolith sound like Windows.
Is Bill Gates DT-canon?
Sorry for getting political, but am I the only one when hearing about the Quiploth think about the American Republican party?
Kaijus Existing makes this deck unplayable for me
Where did you get the 'translation' of the last line(s) of text on Monolith? Is it a transliteration or something?
Luster pendulum + 103 works great in this deck.

The Timelords are also based on the tree of life
1:48 I see you one winged freak of nature
Laser Qlip is actually a goof pun imo, as in the ammo of a laser aka clip
U need to boot up Mass effect I guess😂😂😂
A laser clip is when a laser just barely touches you.
I always thought it meant a magazine from a laser rifle.
Qliphorts- like most Pendulum decks- may have too complicated a gameplan for me to actually enjoy running them, but god damn do they have one of the best aesthetics in all of YGO.

when is the next part of the duel terminal coming out?
Does that mean that Qliporths represent modern day Isekai?

That mean Zefra soon 😊

I think I know what laser qlip is a pun of (cause one of my dnd characters is a floating orb of light and thus uses this attack) it's laser whip
Qlip is a pun for Clip, the device where ammo is stored to load guns with multiple rounds at once. It fits the artwork where Towers are quick-firing their lasers, even if the effect doesn'f fit the artwork nor the name at all

You have to do one for Zefra if there isn't one already
ah the Qliphort, the second thing that made me look up the Tree of Life
The first thing? Project Moon
