    It's nice to see the stuff I have in my kit, in a professionally made one. Really a good set up as an intro to emergency preparedness.

    When I ordered this kit, due to international shipping laws they couldn't send me the matches. But did replace with a survival saw... And the multi tool was a Leatherman that was pretty awesome... And they even sent a readyman card and some other goodies for free. Hooked me right up! Great company def doing the biz with them again...Took your advice and invested in a red beamed Photon light, And a Lifestraw.... Cheers man

    If you don't have the skill set. Sure add to a kit what you lack in skill wise. Understand that you won't be able to have everything in a survival situation or it would just be inconvenient camping. To me this kit is perfectly sound based on someone with just a basic understanding of survival. In a SERE situation your not bush crafting. Your trying to get out of hostile territory with your head still attached to your neck.

    Thanks for your video on this. I bought this and love it. I added a few things like some lock picks, mini chem-light, oral IV, lighter, duct tape roll, etc... I also put two ranger bands over their Velcro straps.

    Maybe a chemlight or 2 added may be useful, could be used in conjunction with the small thumb led light. Nice, simple little kit that has the essentials, love that tin too.
    Thanks for the video Scout, stay safe brother

    The multi-tool in the kit is one that I have carried for the last ten years. It has served me well in many situations.

    Thanks for a great review. We feel its important to note that the can itself is the most expensive item. Its CNCed from 6160 billet aluminum and type III hard anodized. Items inside will not be crushed. The can may be used as an entrenchment tool or tiny little frying pan.

    • @XCritonX

      Matt Hinkley Is the type III hard anodized finish compatible with food cooking and water boiling?

    Very nice looking kit in case you are separated from your main gear. Important additions as well, especially the straw filter. There are also some tiny, light foldable stoves. I would add one of those. I would try to add more antibiotic cream, cotton pads and duct tape packages for wound dressing. Finally, one more of those little vials with a good antibiotic in tablet form.
    In fact the pouch looks big enough to hold two of the cans. So, I would buy 2 kits and combine as necessary using both cans in one pouch and utilizing the extra space for the additional medical stuff that I want to carry. May be a good idea to double up on some of the items, like the fishing kit as well and to include a lighter if space allowed.

    Nice kit, and worth the money with that container. I would add two things, bug juice, and one of those small 8 hour liquid candles. Those are so nice and about the same size as a tea light candle, but looking at the inside measurements, it's an 1/16" too tall for the small kit and will only fit in the large container.

    • @BlackScoutSurvival
      @BlackScoutSurvival  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bug juice is an environmental item. Tier one units are deployed everywhere. Arctic it wouldn't make sense. Also most of the time when we deployed- they treated our uniforms with a repellent made of deer. Thanks

    • @wjf213
      @wjf213 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      BlackScoutSurvival Oh okay, I thought you meant what would I put in it if it was MY KIT, not the military. I'm not in the arctic, I'm way down in southern Louisiana, so it kind of makes sense for me, and a long burning candle to get a fire started when it's very wet makes a lot of sense for me too. As for the military, I spent four years in the infantry in 3/75th out of Ft. Benning, and I've learned very little makes sense when it comes to the military. I also worked for the National Science Foundation out of ASA and I wintered over and spent 367 long cold days at the SOUTH POLE in Antarctica, so I know a little about the cold too. It's not the Arctic, but it did get down to -103 not including windchill. I always draw from MY experience, and have little trust in what the military thinks, but I do know where you're coming from now. Keep up the great the work.

    • @BlackScoutSurvival
      @BlackScoutSurvival  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. I agree luckily the military didn't design the kit. They contracted to guys who specialize in survival that have military experience to build them and design them. I've not seen the candle your talking about. Id like to take a look at it.

      I went through Airborne school down there at benning.

      BlackScoutSurvival I went through jump school in Aug. 1986, and then to 3rd bat right after. 3rd bat was just starting up and man they were screwed up as polio, but got their act together pretty quick. I didn't get leave until Christmas 1987, almost 2 years after joining. I did put in a 4187 to go to Ft. Bragg my last year in the military and ended up at 4/325. That's where I got my gold star in my jump wings when we invaded Panama on 20 Dec. and my ETS date was 31 March 1990. haha
      Those liquid candles are nice. They have a lot of different sizes, but for small kits I like these. They have 2 small vent holes in the top and if you have a syringe or something you can top those off with more lamp oil and I've increased the burn time to over 9 hours. They have leak proof caps, and they work. I had a few in a bag in the vehicle and just threw them in the glove box to see if they would leak while being bounced around, and after a couple years, I forgot about them, they hadn't leaked a drop. The plastic is VERY tough and all but impossible to break without REALLY trying to. Dropping it off the roof onto concrete, doesn't do it, but putting it in a vise does. haha After watching your video, I was thinking that scraping some of that block fire starter onto the candle and using that ferro rod would light the candle. It will NOT lite with a ferro rod.
      Here's the link and you can click on the pic and see how it compares to a tea light candle.

    • @BlackScoutSurvival
      @BlackScoutSurvival  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's more of an environmental item. Being that tier one units could deployed anywhere. It may not make sense. Desert. Not much dew. Arctic. You have snow. Jungles. Water everywhere. That could be why they didn't include it. Thanks.

    Yeah, I don't think it will fit in any ladys pants. Even cargo pants are disappointingly tiny.
