    It breaks my heart that people that truly love their dogs are forced to give up their animals because they can't afford medical care. Their should be help for those owners to keep their beloved pets if it is only finances that limit them. It is heartbreaking for the pet and their guardians.

      I agree completely. It's a shame the original loving owners were not offered help so that they could keep their dog. It's heartbreaking. Health care for living beings in this country is astronomical. I know the original owners must be glad their pet received help, but it had to be bittersweet.

      She stole their dog! What an awful story. She didn't pay for the dogs dental work, the shelter did. And then she claimed the dog for herself. If the dental work was going to be taken care of by the shelter to make the dog adoptable anyway, why not surprise the grieving family that had to give him up because they could not afford the procedure themselves? That would have been the MUCH more heartwarming story. As is, with the information given in this story, she took that families dog. Peanut would have been just as happy going back to his original owners and they would have made that whole family happy instead of just one selfish lady. She worked with the shelter, she could have chosen any other dog.

      @@user-fy3kd9qf2m I am going by the info provided in the video. Dog had a loving and caring family. Family could not take care of the medical procedure dog needed. They surrender their dog to shelter. Shelter was unable to re-home dog withoutmedical procedure being done first.Shelter takes care of the procedure the dog needed. Shelter then gives dog to one of the workers at the shelter. Yes they gave the dog to a loving home, but it already had a loving home and family. At no point in the video is it mentioned that they tried to re-home the dog back to it's original family. Am I missing something? The more wholesome story to share would have been returning the dog back to it's original family and showing their excitement, gratitude, and their appreciation of having the 4 legged family member returned to them. Unless this video has been re-edited since my original comment to provide more information that was left out of the original upload, my stance stands firm.

      Well your s sweetheart for fostering these older animals,that's a shame these people had to give up their dog because they Couldn't afford the dental bill. I know I've had several senior dogs who had to have their teeth cleaned and some pulled. It's expensive ,my vet gave . me a senior discount. That's a shame, when you need a pet the most in your life, everything is so expensive. More dogs would be adopted if the caretakers could afford it. The prices are so high that it's a luxury to have a pet. I ought to know I spent the last of my savings on a senior dog I adopted and had for only three years. I loved her very much. Haven't had a dog since.

    It's a shame that the previous owners couldn't keep him if they love him very much. Too bad they didn't think about crowdfunding for the dental surgery or looking into organizations that would subsidize vet care for people in financial constraints.
    To clarify: I'm saying I'd rather he stay with a family that loves him. There should have been support systems in place to help them. There probably are and they weren't aware of how to access them. I don't blame them. I blame a system that separates a loving family from their pet for financial reasons. That's a shame. Try not to make assumptions. That's not the way forward to civility and a place of mutual understanding.

      @@m6666 the woman who ended up with him didn’t have to pay for those dental expenses. The rescue paid for it. The fur child should have been returned to his owners. Very few of us can afford the astronomical prices vets charge for even routine procedures. It’s just like regular doctors. Those who are wealthy get great care and the rest of us just have to deal.

    If the Humane Society was willing to take care of the issue with Peanut’s teeth, why couldn’t they give him back to his family that you say “loved him very much?” That’s so sad!

    Why can't the rescue pay for the dental and then give the dog back to his owners that loved him?

    • @LoveLondon5
      @LoveLondon5 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      My best guess is it was more than just dental work that posed the financial challenges & the surrendering family would have had a hard time with overall costs long term. As dogs age, they're likely (like us) to require additional health care &even something like a special type of food or small supplement or basic medicine can be tough if a family is on a very fixed income.
      If that's the case, I see it as a great act of love for the relinquishing family to recognize they didn't have financial means to properly provide short AND long term care for their pet. Rather than keep him & risk suffering, they made a tough choice so he could get what he needed now & in the future.
      Again, this is just speculation, but not improbable.
