For starters why not use the spoon instead of fork? So when you scoop the food it won't be difficult and not fall on the plate

  • @trentdiaz8197

*The red meat is called tocino (toh-SEE-no), the garlic rice is sinangag (SEE-nah-ngag), the egg is itlog (it-LOHG)..*
*Combine first syllable of each, you get TOSILOG (TOH-see-lohg).*
*Don't worry if you can't pronounce sinangag, everybody knows what you mean if you say 'garlic rice'.* 😊😊

Proper way to eat Filipino way is with spoon and fork. Use spoon as your knife.
Eat rice plus viand in one spoonful.

    • @anjodelosreyes9951
      @anjodelosreyes9951 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

The spoon is used to scoop a combination of rice and viand into your mouth, the fork is use to hold the meat or other slippery foods in place while you cut those with your spoon. It's also used to coral those food and stop them moving while you scoop them with the spoon. :-)

My sister from Australia sent a lot of small sachets of Coffee in different brands. I love the Nescafe special edition which is just right to my taste. The Nescafe we have here in the Philippines is also good. These days especially when you are in Metro Manila, it's easy to check out some coffee shops. Most of them are globalized Cafes. .like Starbucks and others.. but in other islands like where you are... The chances are only few. It would be very easy to find if you keep asking the locals and others who have been there. I am sure there are coffee shops although these days on lockdown. It may be difficult. 😞

I work in healthcare and was thrown into that and had time for nothing!!!! Eventually understood I would probably never sleep again and I stumbled on TH-cam on our new system of streaming. I found a link to satisfy my travel bug in me that had been squashed.
Living vicariously through others has been comforting and takes me away for a bit.

Try the Batangas brewed barako coffee..and there are other coffee beans for brewing like those from Cavite, Baguio, Kalinga, Sagada, Guimaras, Bukidnon...those 3-in-1 coffee sachets are just there for convenience. My food chemist friend says its mostly just flavoring. For breakfast..my fave is garlic longganisa (made in Imus, Csvite or Vigan)!

Filipinos go for instant coffee because it’s a no-fuss coffee. Very easy to prepare. Not a lot of Filipino households have coffee makers that’s why brewed coffee is not common. You can usually get it in hotels, restaurants and coffee shops. There’s a region here that drink “kapeng barako”. It’s prepared by boiling local ground coffee in water.

Filipino food is a delicate balance among sweetness, saltiness and sourness. The cured meats, Tapa, Longanisa and Tosino, are already sweet and salty; hence, the need to dip them to the vinegar sauce, hopefully from coconut water. Enjoy playing in your mouth before finally swallowing them...

Hi guys. Filipinos use both spoon and fork in eating rice meals. Spoon is usually used to scoop (sometimes the edge is used as a knife) the rice while the fork is to stick the meat. Longsilog is a combination of the words Longganiza and Itlog (egg) to describe the rice meal. While Tocilog is that combination of Tocino (sweet meat) and itlog (egg).

Life becomes so much easier when you use the spoon instead of the fork - at least for us Asians. Just throw everything on the spoon - rice, meat, and egg. The fork is to help gather/scoop up the food onto the spoon. The side vinegar is to be added for additional taste. The instant coffee is used usually when it's a set meal. Brewed coffee is just a bit more expensive since just a little bit more labor is put into it, so it's not included. Maybe that resort has brewed coffee? Nothing beats a cup of freshly brewed coffee. ..... Thailand? It's a very nice place. I've lived there for seven straight years before. The culture is very Asian: temples, elephants, culture & dance, and the ever - famous Thai food.

That sweet pork combo is called TOCILOG , TOSILOG 😊 TOCINO ( sweet pork) + Sinangag (fried rice ) ITLOG ( egg ).. that’s one of the famous but we have a lot more.. you can use spoon and fork to enjoy the rice with the egg and the pork.. BREWED coffee is expensive for most typical filipino that’s why instant coffee is famous there hehe..

Where's the dipping sauce? It usually complements most Filipino dishes. For the vinegar you got, flavored vinegar goes well with it. You could ask the hotel for sauce that goes with it or always tell your server you are not familiar with dishes and if he can give suggestions or ask for their bestsellers and how to eat it. They will always be happy to help.

Brewed coffee for the ordinary Filipino is too expensive. Brewed coffee at its cheapest is priced at P60 per cup.
While most instant coffee sticks are only priced at P5 per stick.

Besides that, its also easier to boil a cup of water for 1 person, coffee machines are expensive and considered luxuries. Coffee snobs would cringe but in coffee growing provinces here, we would just brew a pot of coffe and put them in a thermos bottle for later. That's how I know that my family of five drinks at least 6li of coffe in a day because we fill up our 3li thermos twice a day.

Filipinos eat rice not just for breakfast, but also for lunch and dinner. The best analogy to explain the purpose of rice is a hamburger... the bun is the rice. What goes inside the bun, are the type of meat patties, in your case you both had eggs and some type of meat. Anything can go with the rice, it can be any Filipino dish. Noodles type dishes, you don’t need rice, although sometimes we do just out of habit 😂.
We eat with a spoon and fork. We use the spoon to scoop, and also as a knife. We use the fork to poke/pierce. We use an actual knife if needed. We also eat with just our bare hands, that’s the traditional way.

Hi, from Toronto!!👋👋 . Glad you are trying the Filipino Breakfast! It’s some what a heavy breakfast but satisfying and comforting specially with Dark Roast Tims!👍 When eating Filipino Food , you put a little bit of everything in the spoon. A bit of rice. A bit of egg. A bit of meat. The dipping sauce you get like either vinegar or Soy Sauce with Calamansi and Chili, is for the fried/ grilled meat. You dip the fried or grilled meat into the sauce and add it into your spoon with the garlic fried rice and egg, then eat it. Filipino Food is about explosion of contrasting flavours in your mouth. Sweet, salty, sour, etc.. Cheers and Enjoy!😉

Instant coffee is for people who wants coffee the easy / cheapest way to get the caffeine kick. You can buy coffee beans the cheaper way by buying the beans or grounded once without the flashy package ,aka Tim Hortons, all you need is boiled water straight from the pot and French press. Use vinegar on the egg or meat in the plate so you may eat them easier with the fork or spoon mixed with rice.😊😊😊

Dip the pork in the vinegar. The Filipino way of eating re use of utensils is spoon on the right hand and fork on the left hand. This is so because of the rice. Brewed coffee is not affordable for most. There are various 3in1 coffee brands. Nescafe is not necessarily a filipino favorite, just the resort's brand. 😉

It’s ok to used a fork and knife ....whatever you feel comfy! Most of Pinoy using fork and spoon . I remember when I was a waiter in Restaurant in Sydney they asking me where’s my spoon ? When I realised they used all the spoon even for main course instead of steak knife for steak. , so when I served the ice cream dessert....no more spoon in the table .
