If your horse has problem getting the right leg ,,don t ask him on a circle ,ask him when on the long straight side but can clearly See there is a corner ahead , it can help young or stiff horses make that transition ,, What this rider is doing is rising on the correct diagonal ,which is going help the horse dynamically, but not always get to their mind ,, 👌🐎🎶🌍♥️
Wow! I tried this tonight and I had awesome canter departs both directions! Usually it feels like my horse is kicking out when we go into canter. Now I know that he was just trying to set himself up correctly since I didn’t! Tonight I counted out loud, sat, and asked for canter on 2 when the inside front was down and bam!!!! And it was a lovely depart! Thank you so much for the tip!!
HOLY MOLY, I cannot tell you how many times I've been told to just feel the back leg and I've struggled without spending hours in the saddle to kind of just trying to feel it. This makes so much more sense. Thank you so much for all your videos and shorts.

I was taught to signal BEFORE the outside hind hits the ground. When the outside hind is getting ready to strike. So, if you're posting to the outside diagonal, it would be when you're sitting. Which is easier to do anyway. It takes a second for the horse to get the signal and strike off into the canter on his outside hind which is the first stride of the canter. Yes? No?

I have a question that isn’t related to canter but I think you would have some good tips for me. I am starting to learn about haunches in and it is a new concept for me and my horse. Do you have any good tips for me that would be helpful in our training? Our main problem is that we can get it so it is ok on the right direction but when I’m going to the left he tends to get stuck.
So same rhythm as posting, when outside front is up ("rise & fall w leg on the wall"), so if you keep your "up, up, up" rhythm from posting going in your head when you sit the trot it should work to put outside leg back on "up" as that's also when inside front / outside back are on grnd?
@@AmeliaNewcombDressage - thank you! And from the walk it's the same mentality, paying attention to the front leg position and if you focus on the outside front you can use the "up"/rising trot timing?
I would do it as close to the letter as possible. If you cue when that outside isn't on the ground, you aren't going to get the best transition anyways. Some horses rush, some get tense, some shut down, some overreact. It is best to ask near the marker in the right moment of the stride and get the transition a touch early than to ask out of rhythm or after it is too late.
OMG, why has no one mentioned this till now, thanks
truth
My teacher told it 20 years ago!!!!

I can't believe this. 30 years of riding and I was never taught this. I would always just ask and pray for a decent transition.😂
Love this tip! Simple… but when you try to actually do it- not always easy.
How splendid! Thank you ❤️

Hello! I am having trouble staying on the horse during the canter. Do you have any tips on staying on when it’s a bouncy and fast canter?
Yes I do! Check out this great FREE Guide to Canter I created for riders just like you: www.amelianewcombdressage.com/free-guide-to-canter
Will this help your horse have a better balanced canter?
Yes!
Perfectly explained.
Glad you liked it
This riding method look verry simple, but it's high technique and should be have high fleksibility and fokus to do its👍
Great tip about the inside front leg landing! Thanks!
Q: is the rider vocally asking the horse to make changes as they go; how does the horse know when to change?
Leg aids!

How did you say your horse to do canter from trot?? What action do you do?
I have a FREE PDF download all about the canter, check it out! amelianewcombdressage.com/canter-with-confidence-o/

Nice, but can we have how to ask for a canter to a young horse.
Check out this great guide to canter I created, it will help :) www.amelianewcombdressage.com/free-guide-to-canter
My question is if you need to pick up canter at a specific letter or spot in the arena, but the outside is not on the ground. What do you do then?

You would be an amazing trainer! You might already be one. Idk
hehe thank you! And yes, I have my business out of my California Barn.
💪😍
thank you! strange that this not general knowledge - seems we do not use our brains as much as we expect our horses to use theirs!
Thank you for the tip
Can you tell me why I bang my but and how can I sit like the girl ?
Wats a canner I've only done canTer
Opps! Sometimes the auto transcript for the subtitle corrects 'canter' to 'canner'
