That was quite the adventure and I think you can now say that you are an "accomplished" ATV operator. Beautiful country to travel through. I loved the basalt with the little rusty iron deposits all over. I did Google the mine and the indigenous land rights case. I am happy to see that their case was successful, I know that the story has not always been in their favor but as an American, I can say that Canada is way ahead in this area.
Despite wishing for more epic photos I really liked this video. Almost an A part and B part. Once you got into the ATV adventure I was glued. It was exciting to follow the uncertain road you took us on. I only wish you came out with a shot or two. But it shows how huge our country is and it dawned on me that you have a million chances to take photos of areas yet unphotographed. All you need is a friend with 2 ATVs, some wine and lots of gasoline! ;) Thanks Adam.
The traditional territory of the Tsilqoht'in Nations is amazing. For the people who think the mine was mindlessly abandoned, Google Taseko mine and Indigenous title case, it's a recent and very important issue for the people of Canada. (Not that they pay attention to Indigenous issues anyway, sadly) Love the columnar basalts. BC had so much great scenery for landscape photography. Thanks for sharing these.
Hi Cass, I'm not sure but I think you may be thinking about a different mine. Is the one you are referring to the mine at Fish Lake? If so, the area has been a veritable battle ground for years. I did a blog post about it years ago and encouraged people to sign a petition that was circulating. As far as I know, Fish Lake is not within the Tsilqoht'in title lands but it is a sacred place to them and they have fought hard over its preservation. It would be a disaster for that mine to go in there and I dearly hope Taseko gives up on the fight...but I doubt they will.
Those columns look a lot like the Devils Post Pile in Mammoth Ca. I need to go back there and try my hand at getting some good photos. That bridge was sketchy! Great video Adam.

What an adventure! I loved the drone footage. It proves that a drone could in fact be a life saver and a time saver, because it may not have been possible for you to see all the deep snow on the floor of the next valley without going up that high. The terrain you drove through looked like a recipe for a serious tumble with your ATV. Too steep to be safe. Brave souls.
well... Jeremy almost had me convinced at the 9:00 min mark to stay home... but at least ATV's beat hiking... helmets boys, HELMETS... Go first and go FAST on the bridge! Next time pack the tents etc and make it an overnighter... thanks for the adventure
That was quite an adventure. Those basalt blocks were cool as was the old mining camp. I'm a volunteer mapper for Open Street Map and so I was interested in mapping the mine as well as the long road leading to it. My research suggests that it was a gold mining camp, Pellier Camp, operated by an outfit named Valor Resources. The nearby bridge over Falls River was named Pelleir Camp Bridge. Alaska is strewn with such abandoned camps located far, far from any roads. I'm always amazed to learn of the amount of effort and money people have spent on the chase for gold. The road and camp you showed in this interesting video demonstrated that again.
What a shame , for men to leave all that stuff behind in such of beautiful place. It shouldn't had never been there to begin with. Once more another great video. Thank you.
17:20 - I love seeing abandoned places . Especially when they are in such beautiful locations like that one. If that were in the UK, everything would have been nicked years ago, and the council would have built houses on the land. I agree with you though. They could have tidied up a bit!

Wow! I live in BC, in the West Kootenay, and can get away from people in about 15 minutes, but that is a different scale altogether. The basalt columns was amazing, and everything else. Man, you jumped into the deep end with that ATV ride! Those basalt columns are fantastic. Too bad Canada’s legal system doesn’t provide a way to go after those dirtbag mining companies. I think U.S. companies have to post a huge bond now before starting operations to deal with a situation like that. I felt bad for the fish in that stream. I can only imagine what a gold mine did to the downstream water. Pretty cool day trip - thx for filming and sharing it with us.

Good stuff Adam, I was just telling some friends in BC how I think dirt bike and ATV adventures could really spice up Adventure / Landscape photo locations. It works wonders with snowmobiles. Always wanted to do a horseback photo trip through the Chilcotins. Ian

Im sure that ATV ride was not the most pleasant adventure for sure and that abandoned camp looks like something out of one of the scary slasher movies, i expected somebody to just come running out of one of those campers or buildings....
I wouldn´t have done that ride with the back I have. No way. It isn´t that good now a days. It was for sure a raw real wilderness, to travel for you guys and a bit scary when passing that old Bridge, Huu!.At least you had an adventure for life and you succeed to came back with 2 gorgeous images at 22:23 and 22:22.
What a great trip. I'm sure the traverse of the talus slope at 16:40 had you puckered up. Only those trees at the bottom would have stopped your slide down. The columnar basalts are some of the finest examples I've seen, right there with Devil's Post Pile. That reddish color from the Crustose lichens is beautiful, at first I thought it was weathering from the basalt mineralogy, but after seeing the detail of your tack sharp image I knew it was a lichen. Had to look it up. The side lite images are my fav from this set. Some aerial drone footage/stills of that basalt cliff would be nice. I'm sure there's a story about the abandoned mine, I'll surely waste some internet time researching it. Thanks for another fantastic vlog. Hey! Where's Gavin?
The Ghost Camp was interesting. You would think that any corporation to get permits to setup a camp like that would need to carry insurance... to be sure that if they went bust or a project is done and they did not remove what they built or brought in, would cover the costs of removal.
Really interesting adventure, Adam! I can see how that area might yield some spectacular images and I enjoyed the drone footage too - no rangers up there to get sniffy about permits either.

I would love to do that. We don't have many places in Australia where you can ride quads. I have mixed feelings on it, in a way its annoying because id love to do it but on the other hand I can imagine dickheads would smash around ripping everything up and spoil it for everyone.
You're right about that and I like you have mixed feelings. However, in the north country life is very different and getting around isn't quite as easy as it is in the south so used responsibly I think ATV's are very handy and save a ton of time

Jeremy doesnt like them. They come loose, get stuck and the rope he is using is from his father inlaw who used the same rope back in the 50's? his father inlaw was a trapper and swore that rope was way better than straps. Just saying!! I said the same thing, lol.

Didnt see a lot of wildlife except for one black bear and two grizzly. Moose are hard to find since their decline .

I’ve been on motorcycles and atvs for 40 years. Please buy your friend some ratchet strap. All the rope is just too tedious.
