57:18 #Quah question #1 - I’m on a reverse diet. I do not want to weigh myself because it messes with my mind. How do I know my metabolism is improving?
59:19 #Quah question #2 - Was listening to some old episodes and the protein recommended was .5-.7 grams per pound. When and why did that change to 1 gram per pound?
1:01:41 #Quah question #3 - Hearing people say they eat a lot of grams of protein and when I ask about portions, it seems low. Do you think a lot of people don’t realize that 100g chicken breast isn’t 100g protein? I’ve come to realize a lot of people have misconceptions.
1:07:00 #Quah question #4 - Is it a good idea to do a deloading week after each phase of a workout plan?

Just signed up a client and couldn't have done it without you guys and this video. She's 105kg about 30kg overweight and initially wanted to lose weight in 2 months. It was a tough 1.5hours conversation and assessment but later found she gained weight back cos she lost her husband, only family her daughter has, depressed, having hip pain and feeling really weak. We then came to a conclusion she needs to not only gain muscle, forget the scale for now and focus on very small wins. She appreciated that I was honest. I told her I wouldn't sign her up with me in good conscience if she just wanna lose weight as fast as possible. Just to share with you guys. Rough road ahead of her but I'll be there to guide her.
I'm 42 and I've always struggled with extra weight and my go-to practice was cutting calories. Since I started listening to you guys, I stopped weighing myself every day, I replaced my maintenance workout routine with heavy weights and bumped my calories intake with plenty of protein sources. I can say my image of myself improved a lot, I'm not miserable anymore because of restrictive eating and I started enjoying workouts again. Thank you for the free information you're regularly providing!
eat plenty of protein and vegetables, use a scale to weigh your meals to keep track
Putting random amounts of food in your mouth produces random results
This is by far the best thing of 100s I've learned from you guys. I'm at 2500+ calories thanks to you all. I'm 5'5 and 128lbs for reference to how much I'm able to eat thanks to following your directions
What's your current bodyfat%?
@@khaleesio2513 20.5%
What types of meals do you eat to eat that high in calories? I’m currently reversing and at 1800 and already feeling stuffed and I know I’m not at maintenance yet. It’s my first reverse btw.
@RBW8774 awesome! I'm at 20.1% been trying to increase calories slowly and get down to 18%! Coming from 1600 and trying to get to 2200
@hazzard-ish4810 I love food so I find I am still hungry 😅 but you are at a sweet spot then. I would add nuts, peanut butter , a protein drink etc. Think high calorie foods with low volume if you are already full. This was my day yesterday-
Breakfast-coffee with protein drink as my creamer. Cheese, apple, yogurt. (390 CAL) I usually do a bigger breakfast and cook but yesterday was busy all day.
My lunch was more of a treat/ lazy meal- I had a box of Goodles Mac n cheese ( has like 30 g protein ) and a bowl of zucchini and squash. (683 CAL)
Snack - pretzels( 143 cal)
Pre workout- Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwich egg white turkey kind (272 cal)
Dinner- ground beef and a mixed green salad with strawberries, blueberries, blue cheese crumbles , poppy dressing and a honey drizzle (520 cal)
Snack- smuckers uncrustable ( these are so high in calories 🤣 but so good frozen ) (341 cal)
Then an enlightened ice cream bar (120 cal)
Typically for lunch I do a meat, veggie, potato or rice tho.
Hope that helps.
My macros were 156 protein, 277 carbs and 87 fat yesterday.
Just turned 50 and starting to work on a bit of recomp. Stopped running a few months ago and stopped everything. Big mental shift. Just started upping my protein. Way more calories than I would have thought. 3 full body strength workouts at a gym and steady state cardio that isn't killing me. My daughter recommended you guys to me and it's being such an educational journey. Appreciate all you all share. Got a small amount of fat to loose but my focus is muscle because I know now that's the key. I want to stay healthy and moving as I age. Just because I'm 50 doesn't mean it's all a waste. Looking forward to seeing what my body can do.
You guys have changed so much with my mindset since I started listening to you for the last couple of months. Longtime yoyo dieter who, thanks to your show, is learning to prioritize my protein, increase from less than 1200 calories and lift weights. Intentionally eating more is hard when your whole life you been conditioned to eat less. Please keep hammering that message to those of us that really need to hear it.
I am a 40 year old man and have been working out for 20 years. Mind pump is the first time I feel like the bullshit is cut out of the information that is out there. I really love how your focus is on the behavior of the whole process. My gains have been easy with all the info trough your masterclasses and podcasts! Thank you for giving your knowledge for free!
Hello! I discovered you guys 6 months ago and I just love your podcast. You guyIs have inspired me to do things differently. You see, I have been a bulimic and exercise bulimic since I was 12. After over 30 years I am in recovery and have NO desire to go back to my old way of life. I have been cardio and HIIT crazy for years because of the calorie burn which made it ok to "eat". I want to do this the right way and be stronger in more ways than one. Getting one of your programs has definitely made me stronger this evening because I am really scared. It is against everything I believed, but I don't care. I am ready. I am almost 50 and I want to do DIFFERENT. Different is building muscle the right way. I FINALLY love myself enough to do it. THANK YOU for everything you do.
I love this post. So many woman can relate. Myself included. I’ll do multiple yoga, Pilates and Barre classes a day just so I can maintain my 2000 calorie diet. I’d love to only work out three days a week, but cannot imagine being able to continue with the 2000 calories. But I’m ready to give it a try. 53yr old female here with a yoga built body. 5’9 140lbs. 140 grams of protein a day, clean diet. I’ve got that part correct. Scared that I can’t keep up all the workouts I do in one week as I age.
From someone with a similar background... I'm so proud of you 🥹
I can relate to you 100%. I am in a very similar situation. The change is so scary but I feel I don’t have a choice because nothing else is working. This is the last stage of youth and I don’t want to get older living like this. I’m vegan which adds another layer of difficulty. But, I am determined to get better. Thanks for sharing. It gives me courage when I hear other people share😘

This was crazy timing. I just bumped my calories up and dropped some weight this week. So glad you are confirming my thoughts
I LOVE THIS PODCAST!! I have completely changed the way I train & eat and am seeing MASSIVE results. Thank you SO much for all of your free information and great personalities! Keep up the awesome work of spreading great information. God bless!
Im 5'2 136 lbs short guy and was able to bump my calories up to 2600+ . Would love to win the bundle also working on becoming a coach myself . I became my own coach and lost 45 pounds with bands alone and steps now getting into lifting actual weights . I track my food for the last two years and actually love doing it . I track everything . Appreciate you guys
I've just discovered you guys and I'm learning so much!! I'm putting the scale away for awhile, doing weights at home 3-4 days/wk, bumped my protein, and trusting the process! I'm ready to get stronger and lose inches, not weight! Let's goooo! 💪🏾
Ever since i come across sal’s podcast with other channel, I have been listening to you guys for every morning when i workout or whenever I have free time. Getting so much knowledge and training from these videos. Keep up the good work guys.
I follow your guys since 2022 and amazes me how my life has been changed. As a person, mum, wife and a friend you guys helped brown so much. Now my husband and friends follow you guys and we are all on the journey together. Thank you guys and God bless you all!
Mind Pump, you guys are nothing short of phenomenal! Your collective wisdom and guidance have been a game-changer for me. Each of you brings a unique perspective, and together, you create an incredibly empowering community. Doug, your insights have truly opened my eyes, and the entire team has been a source of motivation during highs and lows. Kudos to all of you for making a positive impact on my fitness journey - you're simply the best!
I'm so glad that I recently found your show. I'm trying to absorb as much a I can from you all. Slowly working on increasing my metabolism and calories.
THIS is the message that needs to reach all women! There's still so many women out there, busting their asses, struggling to push through on a 1200 calorie diet 😢
I'm on mounjaro for 17 months. Mounjaro removes the food noise and helps you feel full longer. I've lost 170lbs. HW 480lbs CW 310lbs. Mounjaro is a miracle drug. I'm strength training 5 times a week and try to get 250g of protein a day. I also walk in zone 2 for 30 minutes
Mind pump changed my mindset, and as a bonus, my body changed! I've never felt better mentally and physically! Thank you! Booop!
Always pumping out the best info in the industry. Thanks Mind Pump!
Thanks for all the great advice. You guys keep me entertained and motivated to put the work in. And the Q&A is so helpful. Keep up the great work!
You guys are doing great things! Helping people like me with an ED overcome it!!!
After losing 30 pounds years ago I’ve eaten strict and clean. Listening to you guys over the past few months got me leaning harder into bulking and I’m now FINALLY breaking out of a plateau I’ve been in for years!! I weigh a bit more but, who cares? My bench press thanks you!!
Just found this podcast a couple of months ago and have been watching it every day, including past episodes. I love listening to you guys throughout the work day and taking in all of your knowledge. I would love to try one of your programs. I am currently in the gym 4-5 times a week and would love to follow a program that is proven to be effective!
I've been listening to your podcast and watching your TH-cam videos for the past 6 months and the amount of knowledge and guidance I have acquired from you is insane.. being someone who's been training for 15+ years and learned everything by myself, you guys have helped me level up my fitness journey tremendously and cannot thank you enough for the time and effort you put in to share this with people wanting to progress and make big, life long changes in their own lives and others, keep crushing it guys!
I’m actually reverse dieting right now. Thank you for this episode. Over the last month I’ve bumped my Cals now by 450 in the past 30 days. No weight gained. I’ll be making it to 3k+ soon. Keep moving forward.
are you lifting a lot of weight? TY.
Hey Guyyssss. The amount of knowledge gained from these videos is just insane. I did a course in fitness a health but these videos feel just so much more helpful. Thank you guys foe everything you do and all strength to you to keep pushing forward.
Would like to comment on parents with kids in sports. About 20 years ago, my husband and myself would run the score boards for all levels and ages for hockey. There was a youth tournament going on and we were scoring a peewee level. And the parents got so rawdy and out of control that the cops had to come. And that was not the first time. Keep doing what you all are doing. Love everything you provide.
Another fantastic episode! Just focusing on protein and not being afraid of calories (within reason) has been a huge game changer for me, thanks to Mind Pump!
THIS WORKS. I’ve been following what these guys recommend and the scale has barely moved but my body looks VASTLY different. My clothes fit looser, people are asking if I’ve lost weight.. but really I’ve just been adding muscle to my frame
Thank you for all that you guys do! This is great information.
I love you guys! Thank you for your influence and info.
After almost two decades of cutting calories, I have done a complete rehaul of my approach to fat/weight loss. Thanks for sharing this, fellas!
Love this! Exactly what I needed to hear and learn ❤
This podcast has absolutely changed my life for the better and there is not one person I come across that I don't recommend this to
Thank you iv struggled with body dismorphia my whole life I'm 118 which I'm stiff uncomfortable with but listening to you guys every moring iv finly stopped running for hours and hitting the weights .. eating more then iv ever have and finally just this week woke up one moring and feel ny leanest and muscular ever.. seeing my abs and glues...just got a gym member ship 2 day ago.. I'm lost now but so excited to see where I'm gonna be a year from now thanks mY dudez❤
My favorite podcast of all time 🙌🏼
I love you guys! I bought my first bundle and Sal's book...I am telling everyone...who listens or not😅... I feel so strong lifting and know I am on my way to longevity. I am 51, former long distance runner..still run some short distance to hang with friends who still run and do long hike..but the strength focus is helping! I am protein focused...have been for a bit..but trying to get it in First!! Keep it up!
You guys have changed my mindset on working out, thank you!
awesome advices (as always🙂). you raise such important issues and attack all those myths on the subject. i am 48 years old man and shift my training to your maps, i can only say THANK YOU!! great team and live changing advices!!
I love this high quality content your making. Keep up and thank you so much :)
1:02:54 So glad Sal spoke up and corrected this, which is funny due to the discussion about misinformation out there. A six-to-eight-ounce serving (168 - 224 grams) of boneless, skinless chicken breast has between 52 and 69 grams of protein.
I just started my second round of Symmetry. I love that program for helping correct some imbalances I've had from drumming for over 30 years.
I am very consistent with my workouts. I'm also very petite. I really struggle with knowing how many calories I should be eating to gain muscle and keep my metabolism high. I'm trying to lose fat in my butt and thighs, and am not seeing or feeling like anything is changing. I love all the instructions you give, but feel very uncertain on how to apply it for my body. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Love listening to you and thanks for sharing your vast knowledge in this health & fitness arena with us. So so appreciated! ❤💪
Videos like these are so darn entertaining
"A TABLE SPOON"!!!!!!! That's a good one. Hell! I eat 2 table spoons before I even start making the samich. LMAO!

Been binge watchind thumps up for the last 2 weeks
Thanks, guys. Seriously!
Just subbed! Had to send this too my friende ! We all gona look in shape this summer 🎉😁
I discovered you guys just a few weeks ago and I've found your podcast so helpful! A huge thank you for putting this out there. I keep looking at your different MAPS programs and can't decide where to begin. I'd really love to win one! I've never had a structured program. Today I just bounce between different lifts without much of a plan.
Love that you partnered with NASM! Love them and love your videos 💪
The thought of increasing my calories is definitely scary, but I understand what you mean about the importance of building muscle. I appreciate all the Mind Pump insights! 💚
Love all your podcasts!!💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼👏🏼❤️ I am really interested in your Prime program!
Awesome info guys! Sleep and nutrition is something I’m trying to work on right now. And good programming
You are so right. Wish I had known this decades ago

Looking forward to this listen!
Woohoo Super Bundle ! ❤
I've been bumping my calories but wish I could find someone like these guys to help me. I'm a 49, 5'1" female whose maintain a healthy weight for years and started struggling 3 years ago. Reverse dieting right now. Goal is 2,000 calories daily without too much weight gain. Up to 1600 from 1200. Trying to stay the course and not let it mess with my mind.
LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!
Just leaned this from my trainer. I wasn’t eating anywhere near enough smh Love this channel!
You guys helped me so much
This episode was so full of essentials! My best gf and her husband were on Ozempic and I was terribly worried about them bc of what I have heard online. Thank you for clearing that up.
ps...I've asked to join your fb private forum, I didn't get accepted, all good. no drama. How do I get in there? You guys and Dr. Lyon are my favs!!! Thanks for everything!
I'm excited that MAPS Performance is on sale! I recently started going to the gym because health is wealth and I want to improve my strength and flexibility (looking to get prime pro too) because I want to improve my skills/learn more with ballroom dance. I began dialling in with my diet the past couple years loosing about 30 pounds and keeping it off through diet alone. I fell pray to bad trainers in the past and listening to mind pump made me kick them to the curb. I'm glad I came back to listening to you guys once again, when I'm in a way better mental space. Still a little afraid of bumping food intake, however once I commit more regularly to training and need the fuel for my body, I'll remember Mind Pump always has my back!
Wow way more than I thought I'd post haha
Great info once again! 😊
Started MAPS 15 today 😁 so excited to see how my mindset shift improves my health
Good evening! I had an EVO scan today. What do you guys thing are those accurate? I went from 105-109 pounds from December 27, 2023 to today. I gained muscle but also body fat. Am I eating to much for my height? I usually eat 2400-2800 calories a day and I am 4'11. I eat whole foods nothing processes besides yogurt. I wish I could tell you guys my story. I went down to 93 pounds at one point. I love listening to you guys every day.
Just joined the forum for that accountability and all the extras. I’m taking getting strong so seriously this year. Looking for those gaaaaiiiinnssss!!! 💪🏽 💪🏽 💪🏽
Salute ✊🏿
Gold info right here.
Thanks Sal i used Joy Mode this morning before my workout this AM and i went into work after and Suzy reported me to HR 😅 was unaware of my unintentional excitement!
Oh how I’d love to win the bundle for my 16 year old son who’s new to lifiting/training. Heck, I’d love it for myself too!
Great show MP team! Super Bundle mee!
They are right. Nutrition plus weight training is critical. I finally have this figured out at 53. Better late than never. I actually see that I am getting smaller but i weigh more.
Sal, I loved hearing the story about your aunt, and the nephrology discussion. I’m also a registered dietitian working with chronic kidney disease patients. I also was overtraining and undereating in effort to lose the “fluffy” look I had. Btw, I trading all the MMA, HIIT cardio, circuit training, and orange theory for strength training- starting strength and MAPS anabolic. My only cardio is light walking or very light yoga and mobility, while simultaneously reverse dieting from 1200-1400kcals to over 2300. I’ve been able to improve my body composition during this process. It look more fit, strong and muscular than I ever had on my life. My stomach leaned out, and I finally built some solid muscle and built up my booty. The crazy thing is that I work out a fraction of what I used to, and I look better than I ever have without dieting.
Got my girl hooked and I’m watching them cheeks morph! Thanks yall! 🤣
PREACHING!! Finally getting my fiancé to bump her calories and follow this
Hey guys, good news/bad news. The good news is, I’ve lost about 80 lbs over the last year and I’m getting closer to my goal weight than I have been in years. The bad news is, I did it by lowering my calories a ton ( and incorporating alternate day fasting 😬) and moving more, tons of cardio. Luckily, I started watching you guys a couple of months ago and I’ve been lifting three days a week, putting on some muscle. Trying to turn this thing around so I don’t gain this all back once I step away from the grind. Thanks for all the content/info to help!
Great podcast
The ginseng information was so interesting and helpful
Protein the real MVP thanks for keeping it real and re-training my diet culture mind🎉🎉
Thank you Sal, Adam and Justin for answering my question about reverse diet and symptoms of improved metabolism. I m at 2300 cal and decided to trust the process and I’m deadlifting now 165 lbs for 15 reps! I guess things slate going in the right direction 💪.
Ps. Justin, I sure am team PB for life! 😂
I am now a 23 year old dad, I have been overweight my whole life. Thanks to you guys I now have a plan of attack. I know my journey is not going to be easy but I now have the knowledge to not feel overwhelmed anymore. Thank you guys, truly gods work.
I work as an rd (dietitian)in renal too like ur aunt . But I love lifting vs over doing my cardio like I used to 7:12 … it helps so much with everything 🎊 🎊 🎉❤in school I learned a lot because the dietitian I worked under was a sports dietitian that owned and operated his on protein supplement company for athletes so… probably helped . As a distance runner , I switched to mid distance, cut my mileage, and at Mediterranean diet filled with high calorie healthy fats and I’m 17% to 20% body fat. I’m 32 and I think certain programs are improving in connecting exercise and nutrition and habits/behaviors to improve health rather than just one alone.
keep us updated on the vagus nerve stimulation, sal!
My strategy for snacks like Snacks is to make some kind of calculation.
Let's say a bag of Tortilla chips is 300g. I know I don't want to eat all of that so let's say I divide that into 4 portions, 75g each.
So when I want some chips with a movie, I simply take a bowl, measure ~75g, put the rest away and I'm good with that.
For chocolate, it helps to have a bar you can portion effectively into clean equal squares and take your time with it.
I always love the metcom exercises
After Andrew asked for grown men to be on his baseball team I want an Andrew update segment everyday.
Just finished my reverse Diet after eating 1500 calories for over a year! “Thanks a lot social media influencers” way to screw me over 😂
Found you! I’m at 2,800 calories! 😮 and about to officially start a proper cut for the first time in my life. Finally have hope. Eager to see if it’s BS or if this “reverse diet” is gonna work. So far I feel amazing! Stronger, brighter, so far so good!
Lets goooo!!! 💪🏼❤️
Yessss! I love seeing women eating this amount! You go girl!
*** FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY ***
Got my wife to adopt and implement this way of thinking. She wasn’t getting enough protein or tracking calories and macros. In December she was diagnosed with an under active thyroid, and despite doing strength training at home (following some TH-cam workouts - which I’ve seen sometimes and are more of weighted HIIT at times 🫤). She is now seeing some improvement in body composition (or that I can see it 🥹) going around 150 - 200 over maintenance and having her focus on hitting a protein goal.
It appears to be working!
Would love for her to come and speak with you guys directly and maybe you can help with a training plan with the caveat of this under active thyroid and working out at home with some DBs only gents! 🙏🏽
@HitenPatel Winner! Please email: ann@mindpumpmedia.com with a screenshot of your youtube username, winning episode number, and the email address you would like the program under and we will get you hooked up!
@@MindPumpShow that’s wonderful! Thank you so much, it’ll be for my wife, I’ll ask her what program she’d want and send you an email this weekend!
The program that you win, is based off of what we are giving away in the episode! The good news for you in this episode it was the Super Bundle !!
@@MindPumpShow thank you, I realised! So good and more recently the wife is hooked on the Podcast 😹
Justin looks great in his Mike Ness inspired fashion 🌶
I have been dieting for years. I'm down from 340lbs to 170lbs. I didn't work out like I should so obviously I lost a lot of muscle in the process. after 2 years of alternate day fasting hand intermittent fasting I am trying reverse dieting but I am worried about weight gain. I've stopped weighing myself in an effort to alleviate that concern, I am trying to just judge by how my pants fit and how I look in the mirror. Thanks guys.
Lift weights
4000+ calories a day the past 4+ months and ive gone from 146 to 152lb. Yesterday ate ~6000- a lb of ground beef, six eggs, a 900 calorie pint of keto ice cream, half a lb of turkey, a bag of pistachios, half a sausage & ricotta pizza, half a jar of peanut butter- i was so excited to wake up at 155lbs this morning, but two hours after my morning workout and having to pee a bunch of times I was right back to 152lbs- it was all just retained water weight. Bulking is expensive and frustrating. When I was fat I could gain half a lb from eating a cracker- now I eat like its my job and can't seem to gain weight. The more I've increased my calories and even added some "dirty bulking" attempts where I let loose all day and eat junk outside of my normal clean diet, the faster my metabolism seems to get.
I've teamed up with a co-worker for accountability to try out high protein and weightlifting for a few months.
Another excellent episode, I am eating a lot. People notice my changes and are amazed and complement me, and when we eat together they tell me "aren't you in a diet?!" They don't get it.
Agreed that d load weeks are under rated 💪🏼
Love the content! Peanut butter first all day 😂
This is a fucking fact!! BECAUSE OF MIND PUMP I broke a 3 week plateau!!
I am eating proteins and lifting heavy 💪🏼
💪🏿Good evening!💪🏿
53:58 you don't need a device for that. Start humming, has exactly the same effect.
