Now there is one thing that i noticed...if I use a proxied version of my domain which i configure for wireguard it does not work properly. If I don't use a proxied version it exposes the WAN IP which for obvious reasons i do not want....any solution on this?
As someone pretty new to Wireguiard and Vlans in general I appreciate this video very much. Followed your video and was able to build the tunnel from my unraid home server to my laptop. It works perfectly when I'm connecting via my laptop tethered to my hotspot but for some reason when I have my laptop on public wi fi wireguard activates fine but I can't access my server or file shares. Any ideas?
Thanks. Very helpful. Isn't port forwarding a No-No? I guess the tunneling mitigates that. Currently using Tailscale. But sharing with others is a bit involved for them. 1. They create Tailscale account. 2. They get tailscale app. 3. They install and connect to their TS machine. 4. I send them a shared invite. 4. They open email link. 5. They click accept. 6. They input website url. The URL goes nowhere if they share link with anyone else. But Argh. It requires a lot of hand holding on my part. Wish there was something easier but secure.
I have set this up a number of times and never had that issue. What device are you setting it up on? Have you attempted to connect outside your network? What router are you using? There are so many variables.
I see your point, but Wireguard is very powerful and customizable, and I like to show users all the options! I have a Tailscale video on my list, so that's coming up in the future.
Totally agree, It used to be the go-to on anything port forward. It still has a ton of useful info, but it has sold it's soul trying to monetize. There is a line, and it has been crossed...
how do you actually connect once its all set up?
So helpful. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for letting me know.
You're amazing!
I appreciate the kind words! Thanks for watching!
After doing that, what address do I use to connect to my server ?
Works like a charm! Thanks!
You're welcome, glad it helped!

You're welcome, enjoy secure access from anywhere!

Works great! Mostly... I can't access my shares. Am I missing something?
Same issue Here
same

Totally agree, Tailscale it more secure but such a pain to share access to your network. Maybe I'll look into a better way...
@AlienTech42 using 3 swag containers. Jf, abs, cw. I wish I could generate all tailscale connections with just one swag container.
After active VPN, I can not access internet connection. Am I doing something wrong?
same here... might be my provider, they told me they switched their router to bridge mode, but I'm not sure about that
Very well could be blocked by your provider. Have you attempted to connect from a location outside your network?

@@AlienTech42 I tried outside of my network, but not working.
Awesome!
Thanks! Glad you liked it.
Right, Tailscale plugin in combination with SWAG
Tailscale plug-in is superior to the Tailscale docker.... just an FYI in case any one is a 1st time installer
Thanks for the tip, I'll check into that!
Tailscale is on the list. I just recorded a video on NPM, it's coming out next month.
Please do a tailscale plus the *ARRs next.
Tailscale is on the list. I assume "plus the ARRs" is referring to integrating Tailscale with them. I'll note that too.
I find the Tailscal solution much simpler....no messing around with routers, no DDNS needed, such a breeze
It's for the next episode ;)
Tailscale is the way!

Jesus Christ what a slimy website port forward is
