    Great great great video!
I've been struggling for so long trying to do a barn table with a similar leg profile.
That copy/rotate trick of yours is just so well thought!
    Keep on going!

Thanks for all your work putting these videos together. For me, it would have been helpful for you to go into a little more detail regarding using the rotate tool and the referencing you used. Also possibly an alternative method for the same result. Great vid!

I find 1001bit tools great for bevels and rounded corners, it is very useful, saves time on plenty of details. Thanks for the tutorial.

Hope this isn't too late. I'm just finding these videos recently and going through the ones that interest me...Oscar is right, there are extensions to do fillets quickly and easily. 1001 bit tools is one, Tig also has '2d tools' which can do fillets plus so much more.

Thanks a lot for this tutorial. Do you have other video modeling tapered legs? Could be for a chair, cabinet or table.

I've gotten to the point that i'm rotating the first leg, but when i select it and rotate 90 degrees, it doesn't line up with the first leg at all. I've used the midpoint references on the edge of the seat and in the middle of it, but it won't line up. any ideas why? EDIT: nevermind. I was clicking on the edge instead of the center of the seat so it was off by a half inch

This was super helpful and made my life a lot easier! However, I'm having a problem flaring out the edges, when I select the move tool it only wants to go along the blue axis and I can't figure out how to get...access to the other axes. :) I do have the bottom of the legs selected as well. Thank you!

Tap the left of right arrow keys when the move tool is active - I think that will allow the geometry to move into autofold mode

For practical modeling is there a way to put two angles on one leg using the push pull tool I didn't see the angle change in the base of the leg

    I had an idea:
I tried to use Scale to shrink down the cross piece after I made it so I could move it up. It scaled it down (because the angles made it a pain in the butt...) but I couldn't snap to the edge of the stool leg. Why won't it snap to things?

Right clicking no longer enables you to create a component. Can you tell me the new way? Thanks for the video!

I downloaded SU 2022 Pro and trying to recreate this stool. Drawing the seat, legs no problem. but I cant rotate and copy the leg. I select the leg , use the rotate to set the rotation but it does not move the leg?

When I make it a component it will not move on an angle, it only moves side ways, is there something I'm doing wrong? I had to make it a non-component and do it all manually.

I am on a mac, and using sketchup for schools. tapping the control key doesn't seem to make copies, and it isn't clear to me how to get the rotate tool to "grab" the leg

    • @Thesketchupessentials
      @Thesketchupessentials  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Try the "command" key - I don't use a Mac, but I think that's right

I want to understand that "make component" and "make group" 2 fuctions , what's different between that 2 fuctions? Because I think they are the same things , they were separated in shetch up ...

I can't seem to flare out the legs using the Move tool. It seems every time I try, the cursor locks onto an edge or a face.
    Can you help me?

Instead of rake and splay by inches can it be dome by degrees?

    • @VideoNOLA

You can use the protractor tool to establish a new guide line at whatever angle you want, using the outer top edge of the leg as a reference point, and then move the bottom face of the leg outward to touch the guide line you created.

@@Thesketchupessentials The bottom face of the leg, since that is what you were moving to make it flare out.
