Serene Pond Backyard: Barbara and David Hale | Central Texas Gardener

- Wouldn’t you just love a paradise retreat in your backyard? That’s just what Barbara and David Hale created on a standard sized tree-covered lot. Now a vacation spot without leaving home, it’s quite a change from when Barbara bought the house-dead grass and plain old boring. With lots of elbow grease, they’ve created a peaceful destination with ponds, stream and comfy palapa. Plus, they’ve styled things up with hand-crafted mosaics, decks and patios to live outside, even in summer. In front, stop by their Little Free Library and visit ponds and fountains crafted from pots.

I wish I knew which plants have survived these freezes we’ve had. The one with red flowers is pretty. Her vision is lovely, true to the style of the home and San Antonio’s culture. Her comment about the mosquitoes was funny, she probably could use a mist system to keep the population down. Bet she has lovely artwork inside her home, she’s very creative.

This couple is so beautiful, and their garden is absolutely gorgeous! The shades, the water, the sitting spots, etc, they all match! Everything is so perfect! I wish I marry someone who has the same love for gardening as mine.

Awesome place to indulge a few glasses of vino ! Most people don't realize what an oasis such as that one can do to one's mental well being. No subscribed medication can do what that can do.

Love this pond /garden looks so cool ! My daughter made a pond she has fish in it and last summer they had little baby fish ! She had a fountain in the form of rocks so she recycled it into a little waterfall and it sounds like a little happy sounding stream pouring over rocks ! I love to sit and listen to it !
