    I love watching people react to this when they do it properly with Parabol first. That ethereal, metaphysical priming. centering. And I sit back relax, and wait for it to hit. They distill it. Decant it. Present it. And then you taste it. BOOM! Mindgasm. Everybody jumps.

  • @IceKoldKilla
    @IceKoldKilla 5 ปีที่แล้ว +50

    Great reaction. As a huge Tool fan I can say all their music is left for interpretation. Their music is to be used as a tool (hence the name) for whatever is going on in your life. Use it in whatever way you need to. Use it to grow, open up, release, etc.
    That being said, I interpret it as there being a collective unconscious where we are all there. Whether it's a state of mind, another dimension, whatever you believe in. I understand it as him saying our bodies feel pain but in this other reality, maybe the real reality, we don't feel pain, we're connected and bodies are just used to be on this Earth but we move on afterwards. I don't know. It's deep. I could go on for hours about what it could be or interpreted as.
    That's the beauty of Tool. You can always find new meanings. When my grandmother and father passed, I already had been listening to Tool for ages. Yet those same songs had new meaning all of sudden. I saw another side of the lyrics. Beautiful.

Somehow I managed to pick up a Wichita radio station, T-95, at 2:30 am, +220 miles away, ridiculous antenna strung around the room. But first do a little study on the human genome, existentialism, and evolution of mind, body, and spirit in regards to reaching a higher plane of existence amd oneness with the universe... Tools music is completely unique to them. Nobody has been able to copy it although some have tried Chevelle/Earshot. They have an ability to induce thought and pull emotions out of the listener the way no other band has. Theirs so many influences to Tool. Metal, funk, Danny's drum style is heavily Jazz influenced. He's actually a Jazz drummer who happens to play in a rock band. It's a huge part of what makes them completely different than any other band

You can hit me up at my account and check it every day 3 4 5 times a day the following them since they started in my favorite band since they started. They all play different time signatures at the same time and then come together at the end of finish the song Maynard is probably one of the best Lyricist in the world. I with four people to put that type of music out and to create that experience there's nobody else in the world that can do that. 5min 57sec into the two part song combined - the lyric “parable” is heard - “Twirling round with this familiar parable”. I believe the first part entitled “Parabol” is actually a homonym to “Parable”.
    I feel the first part is indeed a “Parable”, which is a story told or read that has a deep meaning or important life lesson that does not just jump right out and say what you should be learning from the story.
    A “Parabola” - lets skip the math; but, it has a starting point which moves in somewhat of an oval shape, infinitely.
    So I feel the human experience depicted in this master piece paints a musical picture of the duality of our existence - our mortal body and eternity.
    It’s beautiful.

    First reaction video of yours I watched. Nice thoughtful reaction. Not a whole lot more to add really, you summed it up well. It is certainly a relaying of spiritual revelations in regards to our souls being eternal.. we are pure consciousness, not our minds, our thoughts or our bodies. Certainly one of their most enlightening songs. To me, parabol feels like the calm, quiet, reflective state of being, where these truths are revealed.... and parabola is the "holy shit" revelation and expression of it.
    I also am profoundly effected by the lyric of "we are eternal, all this pain is an illusion" - as well as "recognize this as a holy gift, and celebrate this chance to be alive and breathing" - I'm an artist and actually owe a great deal of credit to that one line and the impact it had on me to remind that life itself, and the chance to be alive and experience it is in fact a gift. It is a core message of my work (artbytripleb.com)
    Many of their songs have spiritual relevance, but two other recommendations which I feel have profound spiritual relevance are Lateralus and Reflection.

And this song reminds you of how we are all not alone in this, we all live and die together. And that’s what we are going through right now is very finite. For when we leave our bodies, this will be nothing but a faint memory.

    Cool, but I think you should get some decent headphones on for first time reactions to songs. You just can't experience the whole frequency content well enough through what look to be Apple headphones? I may be wrong, they may be quality in-ears?

    • @TheAdventuresofTNT
      @TheAdventuresofTNT  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, these are apples. What brand do you suggest? I suck at picking out headphones.

    • @tonycream2948
      @tonycream2948 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheAdventuresofTNT I could suggest 3 different sets but it would entirely depend on your budget!
      First set would be the Audio Technica ATH-M20x. They're a comfortable, entry level studio reference headphones. Good for home/outside use and really light. Great frequency response and handles bass really well.
      Next up would be the KRK KNS 6400, a bit more expensive but I've used these now for over a year and they're awesome. I love these headphones and these would be my highest recommendation to you.
      Lastly, the Beyerdynamic DT 770s. Most expensive of the three but you're getting ultimate comfort and detail. You'll be picking out textures and mixing process effects that you may have never previously noticed.
      Especially when it comes to bands like Tool, you need that full immersion of sound. Hope this has been helpful man. Your passion really comes through for music in this video!

    • @TheAdventuresofTNT
      @TheAdventuresofTNT  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the suggestions. I'm trying to save for some high end phones for the reactions but also get a good quality budget pair for my workouts. I usually go through headphones like crazy cause of my work outs an never thought to get a decent pair for reactions.

      The Adventures of TNT check out “Shure” earphones. I personally love these. They have really good in ear monitors that can get quite expensive but you can find the se215 for under €200 where I’m from. They’re a nice pair to start with at least. Hope this helps. Best of luck with the channel, I’ve subscribed. Also Tool is an amazing band, Just discovered them recently and absolutely loving them. If I could give you a few suggestions, “system of a down - mr.Jack”, “rage against the machine - killing in the name of”, “Pearl jam - even flow” and “audioslave - cochise”. Enjoy.

    My take on the song has always been that it’s an account of consciousness from the “dualist” school of thought. Human consciousness is a major frontier of modern science. We don’t know what it is, why we have it, where it comes from. But there are two major schools of thought on the matter: “materialism” which claims that consciousness is an emergent property of a complex brain (i.e. When a species’ brain meets some threshold of complexity consciousness kicks on) and “dualism” which states the mind/spirit/consciousness are separate from the body, some kind of spiritual force that is perhaps fundamental to the universe, like gravity or electromagnetism. So, to me, the song is about us (as in our consciousness or spirit) are eternal, that you, me, everyone who experiences consciousness, have existed and will continue to exist before and after the meat cage we happen to be inhabiting at this moment. And perhaps when this body dies, we’ll move on to experience another. There are many cases of near death experiences that describe a sense of just being an eternal part of the universe.
    I don’t necessarily subscribe to this philosophy. But I do know that since we know almost nothing about consciousness it would be intellectually irresponsible to claim anything with certainty.
    How I figure the term “parabola” fits in is that, on a graph, both mirrored parts of the parabola will approach their respective axis forever, infinitely, and never reach it. They are eternal, never reaching the threshold of the axis or a terminus of any sort. Their approach goes on forever.
    Anyway. That’s how I’ve interpreted this one. Maybe someone will read this whole thing. Maybe not haha

    If you really want your mind blown…do shrooms and watch the video.
    But kidding aside, the last part of the actual video illustrates that we are not alone…we are spiritually connected like a fabric within the cosmos. Akin to each other not necessarily knowing everything but having our minds open to each other’s energies. Feeding off of and giving off of one another like a interpersonal/galactic grid.

    The idea follows a concept understood by some religions as otu (your soul) in a sense is like in a dream state where it cannot remember who or what came before this holy experience known as life. If you were to also listen to Pnuema and Third Eye, sort of has the same experience as part explanations. Your soul needs to wake up and remember who and what it is. This reality is like the matrix pulled before our eyes. All pain and experience here isn't exactly real. However, your soul CHOSE to be here and experience what this life will bring you.

    parable is not a mathematical equation parable is a verse from the Bible look up the definition parabola is a circle of a verse that repeats itself it's not a mathematical equation use your mathematical logic and look in a dictionary before you actually say something that is untrue!!!!!!

      @TheAdventuresofTNT  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry if you felt my interpretation of this song seems untrue to you. It's just what I got from it. What about you? Using the information you just stated, how would you interpret this song.

    • @patriotforever6668
      @patriotforever6668 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Do the feeling of the music is anything you want it to be felt but when you listen to a track and you make a definition of what the track is supposed to mean you have to look up what the word of the song is before you make that definition of what the track supposed to mean that's why they choose two words of the track and I misspelled the first word on purpose. 10000 days is a very spiritual album benevolent spirit and not song as talking about the almighty God I must have said it five six times in that and that song and he said breathing Union together we breathe in Union separated we wither away that's straight out of the Bible so 10,000 days is the send off album to his mom and how faithful she was to the Bible and her Faith!!!!! Every song on a tool album has meaning and it always starts with the name of the song the next one you should do is called triad it's off of lateralus starts with disposition that it goes reflection then it goes triad you have to listen to those three songs together. Good luck have fun God bless!!!!

      another thing is great job of grabbing the live version there's also another one called descending that you need to do before anybody else gets ahold of it nobody has done these you would be the first one to reacted the tools to first brand new songs off their first record in 14 years you need to link I'll send it to you it even has the actual lyrics to the song. It's actually a little bit better my daughter likes the song she's 10 she likes the Invincible song better I like the descending song better it's more old tool than new tool. but I have to congratulate you on on putting the new tool out you got to understand that's out in a crowd outside in the rain so you're not getting any of the stereo modifiers you're not getting any of the of the mastering you're not getting of the studio time anything like that so you're just getting the live version of the song wait until it comes out mastered and all that but good job. Keep up the good work God bless

    to me its a representation of life the way a Yogi/Yogini would describe it. In order to get enlightened you gotta live in the now, through experience you can touch another dimension of life that you simply cannot imagine, but certainly feel. The Ultimate Reality is called Brahman and the illusionary reality is called Samsara, created by Atman or Self. In other words, we create our own illusions, but in order to perceive past that we must experience life fully in the now beyond the 5 sensory senses. Thats enlightenment and to me, thats what this song describes.
