As a chronic pain sufferer, I learned that living is part of the process and that eventually everything will pass and all the pain will be over. But for now, I am holding on to this life and trying to enjoy the good parts of it
It was actually written and recorded as one song, however the record label wanted a higher track count on the album so tool just split it...right in two 😅
I love watching your reactions to music. I especially love it when you react to Tool, my absolute favorite singer and lyricist. I’ve been listening to Tool since 1996 and will never stop. This is one of my favorites. I love the message. I live with chronic pain and listening to Tool helps keep my mind right. Maynard’s other bands: A Perfect Circle and Puscifer have some beautiful songs as well. Oh, plus you are just so beautiful looking. 16:55
9:57 The man is clearly sad about his little friend's demise, but uses it as a learning experience of what life is about (what him cutting his friend's body, and the close-ups of the organs, is symbolizing). The visuals are very strange, but are also very powerful. They, like the music, are designed to be up to interpretation by the viewer/listener- which I think is a way to get us to learn about ourselves. Thank you for reacting to this song and not being off-put by the visuals like so many other reaction channels are.
Oh yeah, the first part is the perfect introduction to meditation - a special, but great song. And thank you Ken, for all your fantastic reaction videos👍
Sometimes it just takes someone taking life, crumbling it up, and explaining what it is. I joked to someone that this should be hold music for a suicide line.
I have seen this music video 1000 times and i still cannot make it through to the end without being broken down and overcome with gratitude and a desire to do better with my life.
“ The raspberry is coming for you, buddy.” The genuine confusion yet in ruptured way you said that, gave me a good laugh. I’d almost forgot about this music video. I’ve listened to this song so much without visuals. Though I do appreciate Alex Gray’s circle of eyes.
Nice reaction. 😊 This is actually a two part composition: Parabol/Parabula. The first 3 meditative minutes are Parabol, with the remaining 6 minutes being Parabola.
Happy your reviewing this beautiful song from the mighty Tool. It’s actually Parabol/Parabola and they are listened to together. Love the song and the video directed by the amazing and incredibly talented Adam Jones. Hope you get to hear it live ‘cause its so EPIC 👏👏👏
I was a late bloomer to Tool even though they were most popular when I was in college back around 94. Around 20 years later I heard this song and loved it. For me it was the drums, since I'm a drummer that can tend to happen. This is still one of my favorite songs by them even after going down the Tool rabbit hole. The 2nd song I fell in love with was Ticks and Leeches. Still love that one though it doesn't seem to be one of their most popular. Bye the way love your channel. Been subscribed for a while, one of my favorites.
Just discovered you tonight Ken. Top shelf, subscription earned! Two 4year old reactions in and about to explore your channel. Hmmm, funny ive never seen you over the last several years, thanks for the fresh catalog to dig thru!!
At 12:10 you can see the exact map of the energy meridians of the body. Those vertical lines on the body are the same ones I learned in massage therapy school, the level of depth and detail from these guys is just unreal.
The Chakras! Eventually the guy in the video is having a Kundalini awakening, the energy in the lowest chakra (Musaldhara iirc) is in the form of a coiled up snake, which uncoils itself, along the energy channels (nadis) activating every chakra on its way up, where it merges with Shiva in Sahasrar (the topmost chakra), and you become one with the universe. Alex Grey did the final part of this video. Truly amazing.
Having a chronic digestive illness. This song holds particular significance in trying to deal with unbearable pain and cramping. Trying to mentally detach yourself from that is an important part of trying to deal with it.
I've discovered Tool very recently (less than 3 years), and I was hopening such a reaction : emotional, delicate and sharp. That's why I come here, and for your experience and professionnal touch. What matters yet ? Deep breath, and some minutes of calm and relaxation, total empathy ^^
The men in suits are squaring the circle. The table is a square, they move in a circle. The man notices the little guy is the same as him and when he realizes the leaf is also similar to him. He gets hit with an ego death.
Ken, I followed an Aurora trail over to your channel, and saw you also were reacting to TOOL - one of my all-time favorites. BTW, you're adorable when your mind is being blown into the stratosphere by music. How lovely. Another brilliant track for MJK's vocals: Potions by Puscifer. I’ve always enjoyed you Tool reactions Ken! When I finally fell down the Tool Rabbit Hole, I vividly remember your 2 reactions to Lateralus and Danny Carey - Puemna - and how much I learned from you. I’ve been spirally out now for about 1 1/2 yrs! 🤘🏼
This song is speaking of the law of one… in order to create everything everywhere and everyone… the one known as I am exploded itself into infinite parts… in order to experience everything possible… that’s right a part of GOD ALMIGHTY lives inside of us … through harnessing our energy through our chakras from the base of our spine all the way to our crown chakra through meditation you can tap in and remember not only who you are but what … we are immortal spirits having a human experience 🙏❤️🙏
My wife has multiple Sclerosis (auto immune disease/chronic pain) I always wonder why her. This song helps. As well as their song Invincible. It really makes me think of her struggle but she keeps going cause she's amazing. Thanks tool for the songs . And thank you for the work you do on your channel. Really fun.
I always love your tool reactions! I love that the gravity never escapes you. I can’t wait for you to delve into sleep token. Those who appreciate tools artistry and depth of lyrics tends to also enjoy them. I highly recommend “blood sport” the room below performance by sleep token.
My ex introduced me to Tool, so every time I hear it, I'm flooded with bittersweet memories (we are still on talking terms, but our long-distance relationship as is wasn't going anywhere - we are better off as friends). The memories itself aren't anything special or outstanding, most of them are just listening to music together through a call. Surprisingly, this song brings back a sense of "roundness", a sense of everything in life is where it should be - as they were with him and as they are now years later. The universe will always balance itself out. We just have to ride the tide.
I and a friend shared a deep love for Tool-- though friend is understating it, as as we lived together for years, so more like brother with all the ups and downs and shared flaws that that brings. He was a metal drummer, I was a vocalist, so we both had great admiration for the talent in Tool from our own directions. He took his life a few years back, and many of the things we shared got too bittersweet in the aftermath of me having them to myself. While Tool brings up those memories, it also brings enough introspective peace to be a comfortable way to remember. Spiral out, friend. 💚
Musicians hear sounds that pure listeners don't always catch.(I'm a musician) The song Lateralus is done on the Fibonacci scale. You can get the Tool out when you're ready to DO WORK!!! Each song deals with a different part/aspect of life. Once you have their discography, you have a complete guide thru life, or so it would seem. Each Tool song is a different tool we need at different times in life. i'm sure i'm not the only one with the opinion that, when videos like this come along, i keep thinking to myself "why dont they just listen to the whole song first, then give their thoughts?" in my experience with listening to, and interpreting tool's lyrics, every song is meant to be listened to from start to finish before passing judgement/interpretation on any part of it. basically, whtat i'm saying is "enjoy the whole peice of art before you place any kind of "value" on it."
Hi Ken. Please let's forget everything else and answer me, or not... But right on the first minutes I felt the urgent need to ask YOU, Ken, are YOU ok? I felt you so much downer comparing to other vids I've seen of yours.. I can't tell exactly what but I feel you aren't ok.. And it bothers me, if so.. Hopefully is just my impression. Hugs my guy.
