Cool. I know the fire agate material from mexico well. I bought some from lapidary dave and sweet jim about a year ago, and sent it to rufotrist and geode cracker to work. They have sat on it and havent done anything with them yet. Which is a total waste of money. So thank you for highlighting the beauty of these stones and to show you dont have to be a pro at these materials to work them. That piece you did was really, really beautiful. Thank you Kurt!

I have a question Sir, I have a few handfuls of fire agates from california, most are complete little individual 'grape' nodules, that are completely translucent, some inclusions of black, all primarily standard rust color, but is the fire hiding, or just not there possibly, if no iron around(odd). Cheers and beautiful craftsmanship. cause i can literally see right thru the rust cloud.
So typically the fire is hiding in the dark brown/black area. If you can see right through the stone it’s likely it’s just chalcedony no fire.
I’ve never used one of these saws but your fingers look so close to the blade. Is it dangerous or is it the camera angle or something else?
This type of saw won't cut you, unless you are trying really hard. Usually the worst you might get is a burn. I was really scared of mine at first too!

You should. They make rockhounding so much more fun. Plus, you don't have to ruin your neat rocks with a hammer to "see what's inside"!
