  • This is the intro sequence for "Gauntlet II" running on MAME, the arcade emulator.
Gauntlet II is a 1986 arcade game released by Atari Games and the first sequel to the game Gauntlet. Gauntlet II, like its predecessor, is a fantasy-themed hack and slash.

Ah brings back memories of rainy Atari ST afternoons (although the music was poorly digitised and compressed on there)

Me and my brother played this a lot on the Atari ST. As long as one of you stayed alive the other could re-spawn. We played for about 6 hours once to see if we could get to the end but I think the levels just keep coming. I liked the way you could choose how co-operative you played it. I still wake up in the night with "Red Valkyrie shot the food!"

How do you download this game? (Is on PC?)

I was played on a MAME emulator on a PC. The version was 0.78 and it's available for free from mamedev.org/oldrel.html
However the game itself is a ROM file and you'll have to find that yourself ;p

I had MAME in 1999 (the height of piracy when things like Napster were still seen as quasi illegal, but not punishable. Fast forward to today, which is the bigger danger when ROM hunting: legal entanglements with game developers who own the vintage titles’ rights, or downloading malware?

@@dereklarner6298 I've not seen any cases of people getting into trouble playing games of this vintage. But users should exercise caution when downloading ROMs.
