I always enjoy your videos. It’s nice to see the honest/struggly bits too. I have a video idea for you and it’s something I don’t see many people talking about and that is “WHY should you try to grow on Instagram?” I think a lot of people are feeling like it’s just a shallow void these days, and that growing a following does nothing more than stroke egos. A lot of bloggers don’t use it anymore because it sucks up so much time and drives minimal traffic elsewhere. It has its up sides though, definitely a good place to connect with your audience, and some people make money from it, but I think a video covering all these factors would be great! Unless you’ve already done this, in which case I’d love the link! - Paula

Seeing this was really helpful and reaffirmed that our podcast is doing the right thing in growing engagement organically, consistently posting and utilizing a secondary platform (in addition to all the advice you've provided here). Often times, We've seen new accounts that already have "300+" on their first post or 500+ followers already and they "first post" was only posted 2 days ago (true stories) and they might only have 4-6 posts. It's frustrating when these same accounts are going for similar "brand rep" positions also, however we digress, that's a separate subject altogether. Overall, thank you for outlining such a SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, timely) goal for those of us who are starting off slowly and surely. Also, we love the boss red lip...because same!

I do digital art based on my experiences with social anxiety and life in general. I've been holding back for years being on social media overwhelmed with the possible ways to start a business. Your content is very clear for new people and gives step by step guidance that helped me to choose and focus on moving forward rather than freezing up. I appreciate your content and time. In most of your videos you remind me to take my time with my account, relax, have fun meeting people. (very important having anxiety)
Hi Katie! Have been seeing your videos a lot lately and just subscribed! I am a small channel (under 200 subscribers). I've found that if I set small/realistic goals for myself I've been able to meet them. For instance, yesterday I wanted to be at 160 subscribers and I actually made it to 161! Next my goal is 165 so I'll plan to do that by liaising with other small youtubers in my niches. I liked your other idea in another video about having multiple niches, so that's what I do. You actually gave me confidence because when I was just getting set up I was doubting having 3 niches (career, budget, and... Philadelphia stuff, which makes no sense to go together). But I like your idea of niching down further at a later date, which I will! Keep making the good stuff!!

I’ve been working on a short documentary series about the impact that quarantine has had on the arts world and have been so fortunate to connect with so many different talented artists. I’m hoping to start premiering them next month, but I’ve been worried that no one will see them since I’ve never posted any of my work to TH-cam before. I have 800 IG followers and have been focused on creating connections with people that I would totally like to chill out with. I read and watched enough videos about IG engagement analytics that I try to help out woman I connect with by liking and commenting on their posts. Many are not my “ideal client” but seem like awesome human beings. I am not selling anything yet so have the luxury of time to build the relationships. And I found your TH-cam channel in my attempt to learn how to create a more cohesive IG feed and possibly start a TH-cam Channel.

I’ve been trying to figure out how to grow my following and I felt very discouraged I interact with people all the time on my platforms. I felt like that are not giving me support and I have been following them and they have been following me for years. And just the day I was discourage very much talking to my family about how valuable my energy is. And they are not interacting and I need new people in my life I think this is the time of my life where Its time growing new followers. I’m stuck at 160-168 for the past two and a half weeks. I’ll gain a few followers only to lose some every other day. People always say “your content must suck” on every advice video I watch, but I’m not sure if it’s that. For one, I started my page in the middle Of July, so it’s still under 2 months old. My Page is made to uplift, inspire, and motivate women. I make cute quote and text posts on Canva and I also share pictures and videos. I have two themes that I do weekly on Tuesdays and Sundays. I have gotten DMs from followers saying that they appreciate my page or a particular post that I made. So could my content really be that bad or is it something else? I mean, I post consistently, I have a cute color scheme, the pictures I share are high quality. It’s just kind of exhausting and time consuming, I spend anywhere from 2-3 hours editing each post and caption prior to posting. I’m not expecting to blow up over night (although if it happened, I definitely wouldn’t mind lol!), but I just want to see some consistent growth.

Knowing that you need to get traffic from other channels and build relationships inside Instagram actually takes the pressure away, especially for people who are running businesses.

Knowing that you need to get traffic from other channels and build relationships inside Instagram actually takes the pressure away, especially for people who are running businesses.
