BEING SPIDER-MAN ISN'T EASY-THAT'S WHY PETER AND MILES HAVE A WEEKLY STANDING COFFEE DATE TO CATCH UP AND CHECK IN. THE PLAN WAS TO MAKE THIS A 100% SPIDER-FREE MEETUP, BUT, OF COURSE, EVEN WHEN THE SPIDER-MEN AREN'T LOOKING FOR TROUBLE, TROUBLE FINDS THEM. A GIANT, MUTATED VERSION OF JACKAL TORE THROUGH THE EMPIRE STATE UNIVERSITY CAMPUS. WHILE THE TWO MADE QUICK WORK OF JACKAL WITH SOME HANDY TEAMWORK, THEIR TROUBLES WERE ONLY BEGINNING.

one small thing: according to Stan Lee, Gwen Stacy was 100% meant to be Pete's soulmate, not MJ at all, she's just the one that stuck since Gwen's death is so iconic.
I look at it like stan wrote the books for around 100 issues or so then there’s around 800 issues since. Like I said in the video things change with time and in time it showed that mj is his true love

last time I saw him in issue 900 zeb wells wrote him so out of character. honestly peak flash imo was 80s/90s
@@mnstasha actually really enjoy flash in the spectacular series as well. Sure he was a bully but you could tell he wasn’t a soulless person. One of my favourite scenes is when Peter is acting out because of the black suit and it’s flash that knocks some sense in him. He also was meant to become Peter’s friend if it wasn’t cancelled after Eddie and Harry went bad.

i mean, it's been pointless for a long time, Peter being a photographer is an integral part of his character now
and the world renowned scientist thing already happened thanks to Doc Ock and he lost the renown just as fast as he got it, the dream is dead.
another thing that contradicts previous stories because i swear when him and mj moved away from NYC to focus on having a family he literally became a scientist since it was his dream job. ffs even him being a teacher is more interesting than him being a writer for the bugle
Here why Miles fails. When there in these virtual dream worlds with Gwen and Kamala. We care way WAY more for Peter than Miles. Yes having Gwen back is ridiculous but its Peter being happy which he deserves and hasn't had in forever! With Miles its just shipper fuel, he already has a girlfriend and his life is perfectly fine with or without one. And of course, everyone is sick to death of writers favoring Miles making him look like the more comment Spiderman when compared to Peter. No one is buying this so stop it!

As much as I like seeing Gwen and Peter together (sue me, it's my preferred ship), this comic makes no sense. This is pain, genuine pain.
And having Miles here isn't helping matters.
apparently this is meant to be the 616...WHY!? they've put zero effort into making it even feel connected. in fact its like they're going out of their way to ignore what's happening in the other books. this series was such a mistake.

In Peter's dream sequence, see both Gwen and Uncle Ben are alive. I think this makes sense. They are both very important people in Peter's life that died as a result of his actions. To me, it makes sense his idea of a perfect world is one where the two people he feels the most guilty over are alive and well.
Granted, in the hands of a much better writer, this could have been handled a lot better.
sorry I didn't highlight the speech bubble where Pete and Gwen talk about how its good that her dad asked aunt may out on a date because they've been lonely since his wife and uncle ben died. so uncle ben and Gwens mum still died in his fantasy and captain Stacy is now banging his aunt...what a fantasy Peter is having

Pretty sure he went on holiday and then they killed her off. By then he wasn’t really writing the books anymore, the part Stan was weary about was the time gap between George Stacy’s death and Gwen because it looked like they hated the stacys
yeah as stash says they seemingly waited until he wasn't looking to kill her.
Stan Lee later married Peter and MJ in his newspaper strip and approved of it in the comics. So Stan Lee was pro-PeterMJ after Gwen's death. He actually ended up preferring MJ to Gwen. In interviews he always talked about how after writing issues MJ just turned out more fun and interesting.

@@angrybrony Yep, if you read the comics with Gwen she spent half of those issues hating Spider-Man and wishing him dead. Unlike the movies, Gwen never liked Spider-Man it was a dealbreaker and Peter couldn't tell her his secret because of her hatred of Spider-Man. So she died not knowing and most of the relationship she was paranoid and cried or complained to Peter since he kept disappearing on her. It was really unhealthy. MJ loved both Peter and Spider-Man, so she was kind of like Gwen in the TASM movies and is his real true love.

@mnstash Sadly mate he's been going downhill since Young Justice season 3, even the people who love those two seasons know they are a drop in quality from seasons 1 and 2.
tbf I haven't kept up with young justice even tho I love nightwing but its just a shame really. his stuff use to be incredible

At this point it’s time for marvel editorial to get a wake up call and bring back because the main amazing Spider-Man book is tanking in sales literally while ultimate Spider-Man is succeeding which makes me happy by the way, but my point still as along those morons are in charge of Spider-Man comics nothing will change unless we hit them where it hurts mosts there wallets and basically keep ultimate Spider-Man outselling both the main universe Spider-Man and all these bad spinoff books that will send the message to the idiots at marvel editorial that we want better quality Spider-Man books at least in my opinion.
I feel like zeb leaving could be a little sign of them slowly waking up to reality however they've proven to be the most dense group of people ive ever had the displeasure of knowing so who knows anymore.

I'll be honest. I'd prefer an incomplete Spectacular Spidey with the Wiseman that was unrestricted. Than have Triple S finished by this Wiseman, whose leash has been so tightened that he will be forced to include all the studio mandates.
this entire series has put me off the idea entirely. whatever he had going for him back there is long gone. as sad as it is he's another dusted writer

Easy to forget that not every idea is a good one. Even good creators will have ideas and projects that suck. Wiseman had a good run for a while, but it seems he's washed up now.

They ruined Miles character hy forcing him to 616 all of his development in ultimate universe was erased, his dead mom and uncle are brought back to life in 616 and the character has no reactiom

Peter is actually famous three times over.
One, he was a billionaire tech executive as head of Parker Industries. This would make him majorly famous.
Two, he published Webs and did a tour of various day and night time TV shows promoting the book.
Three, he was minorly famous actress Mary Jane Watson's notHusband for several years, during which time he appeared on Red Carpets semi-regularly and would be shouted out by her, by name, several times.
Like his fame is covered from numerous angles. You'd have to try not to know who he is.
Honestly, I thought issue 4 was a bit of an improvement over the previous issues, but yeah this series isn't good. Maybe if ASM was better I could be more forgiving of this but....it's not so.....
writers have a real trend now to do ZERO research before hand. they not care about continuity anymore

You make a lot of great points in this video. My first question to Greg Weisman is whether this comic is in the 616 universe or not? According to my knowledge, Kenny was never in the Earth 616 universe and was only in "The Spectacular Spider-Man (TSSM)" cartoon and the original "Ultimate Spider-Man" comic. His girlfriend in the show was Glory Grant, not Shelly. You're also absolutely correct that there isn't any continuity between Spider-Man and especially Marvel titles. I'm extremely disappointed with Greg Weisman. I thought this book would give closure to fans of the "TSSM" cartoon, but that's not what this comic is,
Rumor has it that Justina Ireland is going to have Miles Morales and Black Panther stay vampires after the "Boodhunt" event (or their lack of an event). WTF! So what does Miles Morales do in his own comic as a Vampire, and why isn't he a vampire in this comic if this comic is part of Earth 616 canon. It's outrageously incompetent and utter trash. You've got to be kidding Marvel is going to assign Ireland to their flagship comic "ASM" in the fall. Why? She's another talentless hack who's only going to ruin Spider-Man even further. The "8 deaths of Spider-Man" really? Are all these deaths going to occur in the Earth-616 universe? Or will they occur across the multiverse? Complete nonsense.
6 months ago at one of the Comic Cons, Dan Buckley, Marvel President and Executive Publisher, announced Marvel is going to change the way they write stories, reshape the company, and lower prices. When is this going to happen? Never? It's a bait-and-switch ploy to keep fans interested, so they don't leave as customers without any real intention to change anything. You replace Zeb Wells with Justina Ireland with the veneer of Joe Kelly writing "ASM" for 18 months. Marvel and DC are never going to change. Never! Marvel fans especially Spidey fans have to acknowledge and accept Peter Parker/Spider-Man will be replaced at some point. Most likely by Miles Morales. If not, Marvel will never let him grow up, be successful as a scientist, marry, and have kids where he raises the next generation of superheroes in the Earth-616 universe.
As one other commenter posted, "ASM" has completely abandoned Peter Parker's passion for science, and made him a perpetual worker for the Daily Bugle. This is fine for the "USM" comic because it's a different universe, but when is the Earth-616 Peter Parker going to be successful and not have to order water at Randy Robertson's Bachelor Party in AC. This is ridiculous. However, I've accepted the inevitable. "ASM" will never change unless Disney/Marvel/Sony sells the character and that will never happen either. Look how stupid Sony Pictures is with making movies W/O Spider-Man. OK, Venom has done well, but does anyone care about Morbius, Madame Web, or Kraven the Hunter without Spider-Man in the movie? I don't think so and the box office shows this fact.
Keep up the outstanding work. I don't have any expectations regarding "ASM". Not only will Marvel subvert my expectations, but Marvel is going to find a way to end Peter Parker/Spider-Man. It's sad a character that has been around for over three generations is going to end in some terrible manner, but it is what it is. At least I can read Silver Age, Bronze Age, and up to the 2006 back issues of the character and be satisfied with that. It's a tragedy how Marvel has wasted so many opportunities to bring Spider-Man to the next level but never did. Cheers.

Kenny Kong was introduced to 616 in Starbrand and Nightmask. He's basically the show's Kenny (with him being Asian-American and Kong being his last name) than USM Kenny. And Weisman has been clear that this comic was NEVER in-continuity with the Spectacular show. It's 616. The title is just a nod, that's all, and it comes from the comics in the first place.

man the thought of conversing with the likes of them would be incredible! in my early days they were my inspirations per se for my pre mcu videos (now I'd compare myself almost to godzillamendoza before marvels spider-man the game came out)
since people are saying this *should* be in the 616 all that really does is make this serous not only even more confusing but also even more incredibly lazy. seriously do writers no longer converse between each about what they're doing in their own mag so no one else contradicts what they're writing? it seems like now each writer is in their own little bubble doing whatever they please! its so annoying and disappointing to see that quite literally every aspect and quality of marvel and their writers has regressed over time! also we know greg can write decent to great spider-man stories! I personally think his cartoon is one of the best show/movie adaptations around however here hes the complete opposite!
im currently reading all through daredevil. im at this rough period of when he faked his own death and such but after I get through all of his books I really want to give asm a big re read just to refreshen my mind a little. me personally id cut the book off at issue 500, ive stated many times I think its the perfect finale for the series especially with pencils being down by both romitas its just the icing on the cake.

Tbh I think where Humberto's art shines the most is when he draws MONSTERS and his coloring is also BEAUTIFUL.
The Symbiotes are where he truly excels just look at Superior Venom, Agent Venom and Red Goblin. The almagation of moving mass is just beuatiful to look at.
He isn't half bad at drawing women either🤔
I think his work on regular humans can be best described as still in between frames than you get in animation transitions. They look Uncanny but theres also this weird charm to it that just works
