The Championship game was the 'Mud bowl' and Miami cheated by leaving the tarp off the field to slow down Freeman McNeil who won the rushing title that year, and had over 200 yards rushing against the Bengals (who were 7-2) in the wildcard game and over 100 yards rushing against the Raiders (who were 8 -1) in the divisional game. There was no rule about covering the field at the time, but one was instituted following that game. Had the game been played on a playable field, it could have ended with a different outcome. So yeah, they were an awesome team that year...

I was at this game and wearing my Wesley Walker jersey. When I was celebrating a long td pass to WW from Todd, someone threw a hotdog at me lol. Remember it like it was yesterday.
Those Jets team from 1978 (when the Jets started a run of drafting tremendous talent) to 1984/85 were as good on paper as any in the league. Had the Jets a coach who the players had ultimate respect and better on doing the right thing at the right time maybe the Jets would've been close to what Pittsburgh was a few years prior. Hmmmm. A 7 step drop inside the 20 going in. Incomplete. One of the biggest changes in Red Zone plat is formations that forces big hitting linebackers pretty much out of the red zone. Teams now are going bunch formations, 5 wides, 3 Tight Ends etc. The only teams I saw back then with the quick passing game in the red zone was San Diego and Miami.
The Lions should have thrown more screens to Simms (Sarcasm). But I guess with the Dopey Danielson running the show the screens are probably your best option.
