The safe way to connect the battery is to connect the positive first. If the wrench shorts the terminal to the body there is no circuit. Connect the negative terminal last. If you short the negative terminal to the body, the body is at the same voltage. I learned fron a battery maker that if battery acid gets into a scratch on your skin you will get a permanent scar. You are right to recommend the wearing of gloves. I think that nitrile rubber gloves are the best to wear. What do you recommend?
I'm sorry, but when changing the battery, you have to disconnect the ( -) negative terminal first and only after the (+) positive one. When putting the battery back, you have to connect it in reverse order - first (+) and then (-). The rest is very informative, thank you.
