Bought "City Limits" yesterday on Bandcamp. THIS IS SO GOOD! Addictive in it's own way. This brings out the Miami Vice feelings I had back in the days, long ago. Please do more of this. These Instruments and your creativity to create something never heard before using those very special synth sounds is not less than epic! Thanks a lot for all of your work til now, hoping there will never be an end to this. You have become my most regarded synth musician, and that means a lot, I grew up with Berlin School, Kraftwerk, Jarre, Tangerine Dream, Moroder and many more, my father brought me into this way back in the 70s. And today, still in love with electronic music, the one I listen to the most is State Azure! 💙💙💙
This is criminally underviewed and underliked. Excellent production work.
My number one favorite musical artist of all time and almost entirely because of his Miami Vice work.
Jan has a stylistic way that captured that 80s MV essence.
I downloaded the Miami Vice double cd the other day and yeah its got some incredible melodic stuff going on. Dude was super talented
I’m so glad I found this. It has Pink vibes, David Gilmour vibes, Jan Hammer vibes, Vangelis vibes…. I couldn’t ask for a more perfect mix for me! Thanks for sharing your work!
By far one of the most enjoyable and distinct sounds of the 80s. I never get old of it...
The last 40 mins are just awesome, please release this asap thanks
I do listen to this almost everyday, it is perfect. Hope that one day State will produce his own version of Cold Water Canyon. Thank you State for this and for everything you do!
Playing it in loop mode since it was published, just after listenning to it during the livestream! And not playing it during my sleep just because my brain uses to wake me up when it detects good music playing while I'm sleeping! Really wondeful!! Hoping you'll be soon publishing a 24 H version on Bandcamp! Thank you very much for sharing!! Greetings from Mallorca, Balearic islands, Spain 🙂
listened to this for the first time a week or so ago - utterly brilliant work you've done here - I prefer it to the original
Thank you!
It was difficult to access the stream and I only got to it this morning. But gosh, it's really beautiful!
Completely nailed it! Thank you for the wonderful evening.
This is it! travelling back in time with your sound 👏
One of your best !!! But they are all good you know. I love that repeating bass line.. And I love Jan Hammer together with Jeff Beck. ( the Blow by Blow, Wired , There and Back albums ! ) Thank you very much for posting this.
Awesome 100 minutes. Throwback into the 80s.
JUST FANTASTIC
You totally nailed it, this is impressive..
Dude, I could listen to this, All. Day. Long. I was (and still am) an avid Miami Vice fan. And like many other fans, it was the sound of Jan that enhanced the experience. He knew how to draw you into the story with his scores like no other musician before him...and I don't think I've heard another like him. You , my friend, have nailed his style 100%, while also adding your own. Thank you for sharing this with us...and please don't stop!
Thanks, man. Looking forward to completing a full album this year of this style!
@@stateazureIf you did a full album of this style, that would be incredible! I have your other works downloaded from Apple Music and everything you create is such a vibe!
I've already said it but this is just brilliant, gets better and better on repeat listening. Please please release this.
More of the same ❤️
Check out 'Switchblade' on my channel for a similar track.
Thanks, it's brilliant...
Is there a longer version of this available ?
Another masterpiece by SA while working out the kinks. Anybody can buy the gear, but making it all work together is where the challenge hides. And @State Azure has the skill to make it work! I will be playing this while driving on the Autobahn in Deutschland soon, cannot wait for it... thank you SA for sharing this with us after the initial livestream ❣🎹🎵
This track blows my mind, every time.
INCREDIBLE.... TO BE HONEST.... I'D NEVER HEAR A SOUND SO CLOSE OF THE MIAMI VICE SPIRIT .
36:05 let the fun begin
Brilliant session mate....I am back in the 80's 😊
I've never been one to listen to Synthwave-style music, especially long 'jam sessions' such as this. You, sir, are a master at the craft. I've been infatuated with your work ever since I discovered it a couple weeks ago. But this really solidifies my interest in your music. Phenomenal job. I also really enjoy your Blade Runner pieces. If I could be so bold to request an Unsolved Mysteries (original series with Robert Stack) soundscape ... I know you would do a killer job! Looking forward to the next project!
I missed this unfortunately, 21:40 is when it all starts kicking in for me.
That part between 41:30 and 42:00 reminds me of a good country or pub song. Love it.
Another good one , consider sharing this to Jan Hammer, I think he will like it alot!
This the music to listen to before you embark on a mission.
You are machine which producing extremely valuable music!
it was 2019 i believe when i heard Modular Works II, still coming back to listening sometimes, love your work, man!
Thanks, really appreciate it :)
This is amazing
Great vibes and pace. Thank you.
thx for brought me to another new reality.
Thank you.
This is great! I love the Rhodes vibe
Hammerwave will be a thing.
This is a fucking concert right here. Killer.
Loved this SA! Cheers ✌🏼
Hi State Azure, your bandcamp version is just awesome, only one problem....... It's not long enough lol. Just love it !
Great music !
wow buenisimo live felicidades
You capture that warm, manly, badass and hopeful future we deserved, but never got. Someday when I make films, I'm calling you to do the score. You'll see 😊
Thank you!
So damn good!
wow, Pat, this one was truly Epic! 🎉
PURE MIAMI VICE
Awesome job!
Would love to hear your rendition of Chase and Evan!
Like my wife said to me, "That was a long one." 😂
Masterpiece
Enjoyed it though, well done. 😊

nice🌴🕊️
Just fantastic !!!!!!
The rolling bass is just amazing. Jan originaly used a Jupiter 8 for that sound with random arp.
Here you used a monopoly ... is it a preset ? How to obtain that rolling bass ?I totally need this sound for a project and i'm not able to recreate it with my korg monopoly (vst)...
I think it was a preset I made. I was aware he used the Jupiter 8 for that rolling bass, but when I tried my Jup 8 emulations, it never sounded quite as good as the MonoPoly version. I expect you can get pretty close on most synths though.
@@stateazure
Thanks a lot. By any chance, you no longer have this preset?
I have the Monopoly VST but I can't recreate this rolling bass. I admit I'm a little frustrated.
If you find and contact me by my email in the YT about section on my channel, or via IG or Facebook I'll get that preset to you soon
@@MrGiloine
Fabulous!! Whats that main lead sound at 24:30 with the pitch bend? I always thought that was a Dx7 sound through a chorus pedal or something? But cant see a dx7bon your list of hardware? Thanks
Thanks! Yes the original sound would have been Jan's DX7, since I don't own one, I used FM8 which can recreate and even load original DX7 sounds. The original sound was called Jazz Guitar I think.
This is probably my favorite from you… I might just go film a music video in Miami for it. Are you cool with that?
This is just incredible!’ I listen to it almost on a nightly basis it’s that good! BTW as a guitarist, are you at all able to share how you created the distorted bass and lead guitars on the power chord and the lead solo? At 1:28:00 roughly anyway… it’s also THAT GOOD!
Thanks! Usually i use a combination of really basic synth sounds, or a pulse wave synth where I can control the pulse modulation via the mod wheel, or even just a 2 oscillator synced sound then through a custom Guitar Rig amp and distortion and then sometimes add a flanger after. This is very close to what Jan Hammer did back in the day. There's probably other processing I used too, some EQing and delay/reverb
@@stateazure You know I was wondering if it would sound good to run a synth through an amp and pedalboard … I may need to try that! Thank you for replying back! I truly love your music and you are one of my few go-to synth / sound design creators that I listen to nearly daily. Your work has “depth” for lack of a better word… thank you 👍🏻
Thank you! I'm sure it will sound good with some tweaking, this is exactly what Jan Hammer did. You can still find the Rockman distortion generators he used too. There's also a VST emulation of that, which I use now to get even closer to his original sound. I think he also used an MXR Flanger pedal@@-KingOfKhaos
@@stateazure I will give it a go! I’m in the Logic Pro / Apple Ecosystem so I will attempt using the stock amp plugins and I also have Amplitude since it’s a main amp sim I use for guitars 🎸. For synths I own Arturia’s full suite of Analogue X and Pigments 5… I will tinker around with PW as well as basic waves and go from there. You really nailed down a sweet sound. I do appreciate the replies as it gives me some idea as to where to begin :)
Please release this as an album. I'm using up all my net bandwidth streaming it on repeat :)
You might have to continue! I'm working on the release version of the track, a condensed version of the best ideas here. The final version will be just a few minutes long.
@@stateazure an extended version might be a good idea also! I would love to buy one with a track length between 8 and 14 mins
Been waiting for this one. Now do Blade Runner!
So much of my stuff is already Blade Runner inspired, plus I did a Blade Runner blues livestream on my channel.
Awesome! Thank you very much! The last 40 mins are magic! Listening on repeat :)
