    I have an Aria Baby Lock machine I have the digital dual feed and LOVE IT!!! I did buy the extra feet for my digital dual feed and I have used the regular foot, stitch in the ditch foot and the quarter inch foot on my digital dual feeder and love them all. I also use the guide bars for my top stitching. I work with very small size squares in my quilts which are mostly civil war era and my most recent quilt finished block is 2" x 2" square with three rows of block equals NINE blocks per 2" square. I use this digital dual feed ALL the time because it allows me to move the needle to sew not a 1/4" seam but one or two threads less than 1/4" without my three layers of fabric moving. I have also made pot holders with sometimes 4 or 5 layers thick and MAN this digital dual feed works like a charm. My hubby knows that sometimes I would take all of my Baby Lock machines and my digital foot over him HAHAHA. What can I say? LOL
    I also have the Anna a smaller Baby Lock machine with a walking foot for it as well. I bought the Anna machine for classes because it's smaller and light weight for carrying to class. I do not have a problem with the walking foot for the Anna either.
    Through many years of sewing (58 years) I have had many different brands of sewing machines and never have they ever lived up to Baby Lock. Love my Ovation Serger too.

      Hi Nancy, we are sorry to hear that. Have you watched this Getting to Know video for the Aria? sewathomeclasses.com/getting-to-know-aria It is available through our online sewing classes website for free. We recommend taking a look at the class catalog as there are several additional classes that should answer many of your questions with the machine. If you have any specific questions, we are more than welcome to answer them! Give us a call at 800-313-4110.

    The digital dual feed foot is really smooth, works great, but it is not quiet, it's a bit squeaky at slow speed. I love it though, it's great!

      I have the same "problem"! I haven't used it for quilting because I have a longarm. I haven't used my Unity to sew fabric that would truly require using the DDF so I can't speak to the bunching problem. Could the speed of the belt that can be adjusted help that situation?

    I finally bought a Babylock Chorus instead of the Janome M8 that I’d been going back and forth between, primarily because the local Baby Lock Dealer is excellent and the Janome Dealer is not at all. It’s a learning curve so far, but the machine seems good. I have to say though, that I’m not impressed with the digital dual foot at all. I finally figured out how to attach the regular walking foot with the shank adapter and that’s working like I need a walking foot to do. I’m sure that digital dual foot is good for something, but I don’t think it’s going to be good for quilting.

    So if I wanted to do a rolled hem on organza I would choose a negative setting for the Digital Dual Feed Foot?
    If I was sewing an outfit from scratch I would have extra fabric to practice on but just hemming a dress one inch there is no room for errors.
    Thanks for sharing this easy to understand video.

    Snap! That Digital Dual Feed Walking Foots looks the size of a backyard Gopher! Did I just see you lose some Presser Foot "Lift Height" once you attached the Digital Belt Driven Waling Foot? Thought maybe that might hamper Folks sewing a thick fluffy Quilt.

    The top and bottom only travel together if the "walking foot" is feeding at the same stitch length that the machine is feeding. I have not found anyone on the internet who addresses this issue.
    Does the instruction sheet tell what stitch length the "walking foot" is built to do? I have never seen any stitch length adjustments on the attachments.

      I know your question was posted 2 years ago but I also had the same question. The answer is yes you can. Here is what I did. I had a very finicky sweater knit I needed to hem. I serged the edges (lengthened that stitch to 3 and increased the differential to 1.5 on my BL Imagine) first, hand basted my hems in place, lightly pressed. Set my machine (BL Soprano) for twin needle, attached the regular walking foot, increased my stitch length to 3 and went very SLOW. No stretching out of shape. I’m pleased with the outcome. I have not tried this on more than 2 layers, like neckbands as of yet. Remember you can not backstitch. I just pulled my threads to the back and hand tied. Hope this was helpful!😊

    I have the digital dual feed but find it frustrating as the quilt gathers after it has been stitched. then I have to stop and pull it straight - the stitches are perfect it just doesn't go through under the foot itself - as if the foot is too low. The stitches are not gathering - just the fabric after the stitches have occurred. And the batting is not thick. The foot came with my machine. Advice please.

      Hi Debby! Sorry for the frustration! Have you tried adjusting the Digital Dual Feed Feed Adjustment in your settings? Sara talks about it at 20:45 in the video. We also have a full (free) class on the Digital Feed over at Sew at Home Classes here: sewathomeclasses.com/digital-dual-feed Hope it helps! Happy quilting!

      What she says still doesn't address the height of the mechanism in the back that is not high enough to let fluffy batting through.

    • @carylhalfwassen8555
      @carylhalfwassen8555 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Daniel Becker You can use stitches that move forward, not sideways. And only those stitches that are not greyed out. The Janome Accufeed is more forgiving. I am not impressed with this feature. I cannot understand how quilters are using it for quilt in the ditch. I am constantly pulling the quilt from under the digital feed as the quilt moves behind the presser foot.

    • @designertjp-utube

      Hi! I really definitely believe so! A Walking Foot Attachment helps to work as an extra pair of hands in holding your slippery fabric down. You will use less pins too! "Walking Feet" Attachment Model's main job is too help keep your top layer fabric moving in sync with your bottom fabric which gets major help and pull from the feed dogs underneath. #DesignerTJP

    • @babylocksewing
      @babylocksewing  ปีที่แล้ว

      A walking foot is designed for straight stitching only. We do not recommend using it for decorative stitching- that's when you'd need the deluxe as the needle bar can move side to side. :)

    Thanks. I don't like the digital feed because the clearance doesn't work well for quilting with thick sandwitch

    • @babylocksewing
      @babylocksewing  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The original Digital Dual Feed foot which came with a lot of Baby Lock machines moves fabric smoothly through the machine for quilting multiple layers and for thicker hard to manage fabrics. The fabric can bunch up if you do not pay attention to how much room is behind the machine for the fabric to follow through the machine. For example, if you are stitching with the accessory table on the machine, the fabric doesn’t have a way of angling down and away from the machine and can bunch up if you aren’t paying attention. Baby Lock introduced a compact version of the Digital Dual Feed foot which combats this issue. Speak to your Baby Lock Retailer about the compact foot and notice how it allows for the fabric to release easily all the time, regardless of the bulk.

    I am not a fan of this digital dual feed at all! I spent thousands of dollars buying a top of the line machine only to have the accessories inferior. First of all the belt is terrible . It drags on the fabric and doesn't roll smoothly. But most frustrating of all is the device itself sits way too low onto the deck of the machine. There is insufficient space for the thickness of the quilt to feed underneath the dual feed. The quilt bunches up and doesn't feed smoothly, it drags, and then affects the evenness of the line of stitching. I hate it. You need to declare a recall, and redesign something that actually works for quilting. I should have bought the Bernina.

      Hi jesm1776, so sorry for the frustrations you have with the Digital Dual Feed. We recommend watching the full free class we have over at Sew at Home that is solely on the Digital Dual Feed. It may help alleviate some frustration. sewathomeclasses.com/digital-dual-feed Hope it helps!

      I have the Bernina 830LE but, after 5 yrs., purchased the Unity because of the cost of accessory feet, bobbins, which are M size with special markings recognized by the machine, so you can't use rewound bobbins. I found changing the feet a fiddly process, and attaching the embroidery hoop complicated. If you get thread caught in the bobbin case you have to take it to a dealer to have it removed! Really!
      The dual feed on the Bernina is exactly the same as the Pfaff design. It was a Pfaff exclusive for many years so I'm very familiar with how it works. It's excellent in most cases but doesn't feed slippery fabrics as evenly and smoothly as a dual feed attachment because it is only pulling the fabric from a center point not two parallel places.
      If you still want a Bernina, I have mine for sale!

      I have tried watching as many videos as I can on the Digital Dual Feed. No joy. It is a total waste of time and money. I'm so unhappy I bought this machine.

      jesm1776 I agree the the digital dual feed is a clunky chunky embarrassment. A beautiful machine like the Destiny deserves much better design. And the changing of the feet is very awkward and clumsy.
      Babylock, please rework this expensive afterthought-of a foot. Give us something like a Bernina walking foot. please.
