    Pete is never a distraction. What beautiful coloring he has. Thank you for allowing him to star in this video. As for the walking foot I must admit that it has an intimidating look to having to use it. Your instructions are always spot on and a welcome reference tool when I get frustrated with what I may be doing wrong. Thanks a million Cody!🧵🪡🌟

      Thank you so much for your sweet comment. I started making these videos a few years ago because so many of my customers were getting frustrated because the books that come with the machine were not great and sadly never have been really good. So some of the simplest things were impossible to find and some things are easier to explain in person or via video. I love teaching and sharing knowledge. :) I am so happy you enjoy the channel and videos, it means a lot. People like you is why i keep making videos. :) You have a wonderful Thanksgiving too!!!

      Hi I found you and your great explanations when I bought a Bernette B38. And it had a quilting box with it. I did as a lot of questions, was struggling with the Achime, packed it up and went back to my lovely old Bernina 530-2 Record. Since then I’ve quilted one 200x200 cm quilt on it , no walking foot for her, six “I Spy” quilts within four month for Christmas presents. Sometimes my poor old machine, bless her, gets tired of me. I would have loved a newer Bernina model, but…. I manage. And still love it, and go to your videos if I get stuck with anything. Thank you for your great help. Greeting from a damp Yorkshire the best County in England. Sibylle. “The Midnight Owl” 🦉👍❤️

    Hi Cody, I have.Bernia 435 sewning machine which is fantastic. Can I get a dual feed foot for this machine .Or would it be better if I got myself a walking foot.
    The Bernia 435 seems to have have left behind with so many Bernia machines coming to the fore front.
    Would it be possible for you to do a tutorials on this machine please on anything. Thank you.
    I love the material in your shirt excellent. Cody is delightful do not leave him out of your tutorial’s. Thank for such interesting programmes they are great to watch and learn. Thank you for making so interesting.Eileen.😃

    • @sewingwithcodyandpete8651
      @sewingwithcodyandpete8651  ปีที่แล้ว

      Your 435 is a wonderful machine sadly they “temporarily “ stopped making but they haven’t started back and it’s been almost two years now. So I don’t have access to a 435 but it’s almost identical to the 475 so I can do some more info on that machines and mention and show stuff that the 435 has.
      So the 4 series machines don’t have dual feed it’s a mechanism built into the design of the machine so it can’t be added. So the only option is the walking foot however the walking foot is amazing. Thank you for all of the love to my channel and videos. Thanks for watching 🥰🥰🥰

    Thank you for this video. I have sewn on a Bernina 440 QE for 16 years and was very attached to my walking foot. 2 years ago I got the 770 with the dual feed which I love but I didn't feel like it was up to the task with some things. Now I know I can use my old walking foot on my new machine. I never event thought of it. Thank you! Also Pete is so cute! We added a green cheeked conure to our family a few months ago and he loves to sit on my shoulder when I sew. I loved hearing Pete talking during the video! Do you have a stand or anything that he hangs out on when your sewing? We are trying to find ways to keep ours entertained.

    • @sewingwithcodyandpete8651
      @sewingwithcodyandpete8651  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So many 440 owner transition to the 770 it's a great transition and both wonderful machines. But I 100% agree the dual feed is amazing but there are times when the walking foot is still needed. :)
      Aww Green cheeks are so adorable! I used to have one of his play stands in the sewing studio but i was running out of space so it stays downstairs, I need to make him a smaller one for the studio so he can have his own space. But yes sometimes he gets board and wants to walk around and chew on walls so then that's when I know he needs to go downstairs and play on his stand. haha
      Thanks for the message, always a pleasure to hear from a fellow parrot sewer. :D

    Thank you! Thank you for pointing out that a walking foot is not 9 mm. I’m thinking of getting a 570 QE because I want to quilt using a 9 mm serpentine stitch. It would never have occurred to me that the walking foot wouldn’t allow for a 9 mm stitch. Now I know I might need to buy an additional D foot if I decide to buy this machine. Needing to buy new bobbins, new D feet, and a new single hole stitch plate are really jacking up the price. I love my old artista 170, but it’s motherboard is dying a slow death.

    • @kateheads887
      @kateheads887 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I use the 9mm serpentine stitch with the dual feed no 1 foot. I reduce the foot pressure to about 10-20. I have quilted up to about 60 x 70 without any issues. I have a 770 but need a smaller machine when I move house.

  • @singercouk

    love the birdie being picky but there is another diffrence in that dual feed moves both back and forward duplicating lower feed movement where as the walking foot only feeds in one direction. Otherwise great video thanks.

    Thanks Pete & Cody! I've had my 570QE for a couple of weeks and was curious about the difference between the two - I'm not a quilter, so the built-in really suits my garment sewing but will get that walking foot down the road/ the next time I'm possessed to sew with velvet.

    Bernina is WAY too expensive for the amount of sewing I do. It would be nice if you did a video on all makes of sewing machines that have built-in dual feed.

  • @countkostaki
    @countkostaki 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    The Janome Accufeed system seems to be much more like a walking foot rather than the dual feed system. It's build in like the dual feed system on the Bernina/Bernette/Pfaff machines, but the feed teeth are at either side of the presser foot rather than the single pull at the back. Would you say this is as good as the walking foot, considering this allows the machine to go at 9mm and uses two feed teeth rather than the single one?

    • @sewingwithcodyandpete8651
      @sewingwithcodyandpete8651  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A great question I am familiar with the Janome accufeed. I like it because it is on the side of the foot and not behind similar to the walking foot. So this allows the accufeed to pull the fabric before it is stitched and more active in the very beginning unlike the Bernina dual feed. However the one complaint my Janome customers have had is the limited number of feet that the accufeed can accommodate. Because the Bernina does offer About a dozen different feet for the dual feed.

    • @countkostaki
      @countkostaki 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@sewingwithcodyandpete8651 Oh really...? That's interesting because I've got 10 attachments for the AccuFeed system which are all accommodated by the Janome built in system. Maybe it's just regional differences though - but the 10 attachments are what's on offer here in the UK. Having said that do I use all 10 AccuFeed attachments...? No, I don't. The most I use are 3 - the general purpose (this gets use by far the most, probably 90% of the time), the narrow general purpose and the zipper.

  • @twisterking1963
    @twisterking1963 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You are so WRONG! The Walking Food doesn't transport the fabric at all. The Dual Feed does!. You can easily demonstrate this if you lower the bottom feed and try to sew using only the Walking Foot. The fabric won't move.
    The Walking Foot is 'powered' through the needle movement. The needle goes up and down all the time and doesn't change with stitchlength or reverse. So if the movement of the needle was used for transport by the Walking Foot it would always move the top fabric in the same direction with the same stitchlength, while the lower layer of the fabric would be transported by the lower feed in the direction and stitch length you have set on the machine.
