    I've had my Segway P100s for one month now and I've done over 150 miles so far. I average around 4-6 miles per day and I ride about 4-5 times per week. The scooter is great so far but there are a few flaws but lots of great things as well.

    Thank you so so much for taking the time to review the P100s!
    I've been looking for a proper review for months and all I ever found was reviews for the smaller P65, or for the much more expensive GT2 (paid reviews no less)
    My first and current scooter is the Hiboy S2 Max, and while I like the little rascal a lot, it leaves a bit to be desired on distance and speed that I need in my area, not to mention the suspension
    Thank you again for your time spent on the review! I finally have a solid voice and thought on the scooter, and it's definitely on my Christmas List.

    Thanks for the review, you gave me a lot of think about. A month ago I purchased a little Segway D28 on sale for the heck of it. It's so much fun to zip around the neighborhood. I'm going with a big boy next spring, kinda like the guy who buys a starter bike and instantly outgrows it, haha. Cheers!

      Automatically shifting to park after stopping/getting off/etc is so that someone doesn't "whiskey throttle" the accelerator and the scooter jumps to full acceleration without someone on it.

    This was an incredibly comprehensive (and honest!) review! I, too, am a P100S owner and feel that this was a great investment especially as a first scooter striking a balance between performance and utility that will last me for years.
    The best point you made is that this is perfect for people who commute 5-10 mi daily which for me fills in that "last-mile" gap that I have at work between the employee parking lot and airport terminal that I work in but also commuting more easily around downtown.
    I completely agree about this model feeling solid even traveling at higher speeds and also the design of the P100S (and P65) looks well thought out and streamlined. You might have already touched on this in your forthcoming video but after having my P100S since late April and at about 300 mi... my biggest gripes are with the rear brake.
    I've had to align/center my brake assembly on several occasions hearing the brake rotor rubbing lightly on a brake pad after some riding and also needed to tighten the rear brake cable because the tension loosened which gave my rear brake less stopping power (maybe new cable stretch). I've been reading online about others having issues with the fender loosening or falling off, however, I haven't had that fate as I've been ensuring weekly the axle nut cover screws are tightened. All of these simple adjustments I've only used 5, 4, 2.5mm hex keys and needlenose pliers. Also as a cyclist, I feel like Segway reversed the brake levers with the right controlling the front brake and left controlling the rear; it should've been the other way around IMHO.
    Anyway, awesome job with the amount of time shooting and editing this video and you definitely covered a lot with your P100S. Eager to see other videos of your experience with the P100S you make!
    Happy and safe riding!!

    You did a fantastic job with reviewing the P100s. I own one and think it's a beast. I also keep mine in drive mode. Live in NYC and the speed limit is 25mph on the local streets anyway. 25 MPH on a stand up scooter is impressive enough for me. The initial torque on sport mode is too intense for me. LOL.

    Great review. I just took mine out for my first ride yesterday. My wife was on the Max G30, so I set my Drive mode limit to 19 MPH so she could keep up. Of course, there were several times where I did full runs in sport mode. In total, we did 19.6 miles, with some decent hills excedding 25 degree climb angles. Upon returning, the P100 had 46% battery remaining, which was more than I expected with a 6'1" 220lb rider. The G30, which ran in Sport the entire way had 48%, but its rider is 100 lbs lighter.
    After checking the tires, I was only on 17psi, so that range should be better at 40psi.

    Nice comprehensive review. I have the P65 and am looking to upgrade to the P100s for the suspension since the P65 is my all around favorite scooter for its balance of weight, price and power. I also have the GT2, which I love, but dang that thing is heavy when loading and unloading from a vehicle.

    Oh. Park mode means when you stop it for a certain amount of time, it switches to it. You have to press down on the throttle to disable it, and then you can ride the scooter. It’s a premium safety feature.

  • @turbanatormansehaj
    @turbanatormansehaj 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    8:40 this actually isn't how the motor power works. I have a G30LP and the motor gets up to 800 watts, at least that is what the new 6.0 app watt indicator says. Your scooter motor has a nominal power of 650 watts, which is like the normal wattage the scooter will operate at, however, the wattage of your scooter gets up to around 1300 watts of peak power (according to online sources). Your eco mode is likely operating at the nominal power of 650 watts, as my scooter operates at its nominal power in eco mode: 350 watts. Your drive mode would probably get to around 950-1000 watts, whereas the sport mode accesses the maximum motor power.
    Also, the park mode is there so that an accidental throttle input doesn't cause the scooter to go haywire. It is a safety feature on all segway kickscooters as to prevent injury or damage to the scooter. Hopefully this helps.

    @corndog9482 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    i am 5'8" and weigh 125 lbs. on 100% down to about 65% - ish on 'Drive' mode, if I don't lean forward over the bars at stop to low speed before I punch it, the torque is enough for the front end to lift up and want to wheelie. I can't have two fingers on the brakes while max acceleration, either - only one. I need at least four fingers gripping the handle bar, or I will fly off. This is also on 'Drive' mode. I think it's safe to say that I don't need anything faster 😂

  • @Krispy416
    @Krispy416 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    650 watts is the nominal wattage.
    The P100S peaks at 1350 watts. This is how it gets to 30mph.

    • @WilliamShakerTech
      @WilliamShakerTech  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Nominal power output refers to the rated power that a motor can produce without damaging itself. Peak output is the maximum power that a motor can generate for short periods of time before overheating or other issues can occur. While it can do 1350.. 95% of the time, it uses 650 watts. Most scooters with even 500w can do 30 mph but they are restricted for obvious reasons (tires, lack of suspension, battery management, inverter, etc).

    Park mode is protection mode when you stand still, you cant accelerate. You can activate it by pressing brakes and off you go. Also William forgets to mention 650W is lowest in sports, once you accelerate faster you get up to 1500W on a single motor. I have been using it for 2 months and I'm more than happy to have it. There might be a few cons tho ; water makes suspension squicky, so you have to "lubricate" them with specific oil. I also noticed while driving uphill in sports mode, you feel like driving automatic car when it strugle to switch to higher gear (maybe a software bug). For me personally these brakes or wheels are not good for high speed stopping. I had to re-adjust brake disks but that's normal when it comes out of fabric. But I will switch to hydraulic brakes soon, kinda bad that for this price they haven't include it. Overall this scooter is beast and very powerful, I love it!

    I have the same one and I'm not happy with it. The suspension is horrible, it vibrates too much and you can feel the smallest grooves in the road in your arms. I use it every day to go to work, 44 kilometers. I have had to go to the kinesiologist to relieve neck and shoulder pain. The Max G2 was better, less vibrations and lighter.

If got a balance disorder, which means that i can't ride a bike for example, i think the closest alternative to that with 2 wheels would be an e scooter but i've never driven one yet because they are still illigal on public roads over here. They're working on levalisation for it for halfway thrugh the year. Would it be worth buying or trying? Do you need to work your balance (as much as on a bike) to not fall over?

Rear suspension is damaged. left arm is not working. rear fender just dropped because it came loose too. its a design fault because every one of the two suspension arms can work independently and cause the wheelaxis to tilt sideways and get loose. its a big dissapointment. i will try the GT1 now on which the rear suspension arm is a U and not two seperate arms.

    I had to return my p100s after 15 days. I have 4 shorts that show the poor build quality of this scooter. What an absolute mess of a product. I hope people avoid this scooter until they fix all the serious issues with the design.
    The rear disc brake rotor is mounted to a plastic hub extension. It warped after a long ride. Was un-ridable after that, unless you completely disconnect the brake caliper.

  • @LuckyAlann
    @LuckyAlann ปีที่แล้ว +2

    1. P100S has bad quality disc brakes. If you transport scooter in the car, they will change geometric shape and start to rub on pads.
    2. Suspension is also vulnerable, and after a 100 km wheels start to rotate by obvious swinging way in my case. When you rotate wheels manually while scooter is stopped it is clearly noticeable.
    3. For only rear wheel powered scooter it has to much momentum when you starting a scooter. It is relatively easy to loose control if you are not very careful with dosing a throttle at start.

    Saying the motor only uses 650w shows a complete lack of understanding of electronic control systems. The battery is a max voltage of 54.6, in high support it sends over 100 phase amps(over 5000w) through the motor. The 650 is a rating number and it's almost arbitrary. The motor does not determine the current

    A but if rant:
    The problem is not with the scooters; it’s the kids and 20-year-olds.
    Some understand the rules of the road, and they wear a helmet. They don’t speed and are courteous to others.
    The rest are just idiots. They ride on the highway going fast as possible. No helmet. They are just waiting for the right accident to give up their lives and possibly donate their organs to people that need them.
    E-Bike and scooter deaths are now one of the top devices surpassing motorcycle deaths.
    Regulators, enforcement and education committee action groups are the only way to make this mode of transportation safer for all.
