The Mongols were great horsemen. They would attack with horse archers first in waves. The strength of the Mongolian army were their horse archers who could accurately fire about 300m away. This simulator doesn't account for this.
Not only that Mongol Army had better and much more powerful siege weapons. Their composite bow had much longer range so the bulk of the Romans would be wiped out before they engage in a close combat lol

The Romans would only have to form a basic testudo formation in order to be safe from arrows. Don't forget the Romans were masters of engineering and siege warfare also. They had great knowledge of things like siege towers and catapults, as well as how to defeat them. However i'd still give the edge to the mongols because they existed later and had access to things like gunpowder for early cannons

Nah run is that last thing they will do when facing with mongols. tactically, when you are faced with skirmish troops like the Mongolian horse archer, the first thing you will do is form a shield wall formation, in this way you do your best to resist the rain of incoming arrows, you shouldn't run because if you run then the army formation will break and you are an easy target for heavy Cavalry to charge.

But The Mongols concentrated all their forces, while the Khwatezm forces were guarding different cities and forts, leaving much lesser forces in the field and lesser forces at any point than the Mongol for es.
the whole Mongol horde were barely 300k total, they also would never mobilize all of them, they'd typically send 10k riders to deal with an army of 30-50k, by nightfall the 30-50k would be all annihiliated

Every single mongolian soldiers were accompanied with 3 horses. 3 Horses were rotated and the soldiers could move 400km a day relentlessly when the armies of roman empire could move 20-30km distance a day. And the battle ratio also has to be fixed. Mongolian army has to be minority. They were the butchers. 1 Mongolian Army = 5 European Infantry.

A lot of errors: 1) Lack of horsemen archers in the Mongol army. 2) Movement of the Roman army... they never move the first line when assaulted (they used the pilum lance) only the secondary and tertiary line moves to reinforce the first line.

All the sieges only end one way lol. Chokepoints etc. In real life siege warfare was all about taking your time, engineering and using many tactics and specialists.

This was exciting to watch but the Artillery (or whatever the ancient term is for these weapons) were very unrealistic. They fired unrealistically fast and never ran out of "ammo".
